Default New member intro and advice

Hi there. I'm a new member of the forum and wanted to introduce myself. My dad was a tailgunner on a B-25 in China and my neighbor was a navigator on a B-24 in England, so I've always been fascinated with WWII. Started collecting simple Air Signature/Yat Ming and Motor Works planes back in early 2000, and added some Franklin Mint 1/48 scale stuff. I have recently got back into it with some Air Force 1, Forces of Valor, and Dragon Wings in 1/72.

Currently looking at Corgi B-25 Heavenly Body- just a beautiful item. I'm torn between a Corgi B-24 Pistol Packin Momma or B-24 Booby Trap. Is the Corgi "silver" paint scheme on Booby Trap a really shiny look...tough to tell from pics.

I'm not a expert collector, just someone who appreciates the beauty of these machines and the men who flew them. Any other recommendation on diecast companies that do a realistic job? I've seen some from WTLK (generic China Manu) that seem decent in pics.

Thank you.

Neither of those make a 1/72 B-25 or B-24 which the OP wants.

Hello, welcome. The best company are : Corgi, Hobbymaster, calibreWing, centuryWings,Aircommander.

But you could have great model with Falcon, dragonwings, gemini ace, skymax.

Some good model are also with oxford.

Look also at "Force of Valor",the new models from them are great (the new chinook is the best on the market) and they are going to retool some WW2 plane.

Welcome. Unfortunately I cannot help on you specific question regarding the finish of those models. I would offer one piece of advice though. Try to hunt down Dragon Wings Warbird 1:72 WWII fighter planes as they are typically very nice and can often be found with good prices. I have only five of them, but think they are all superlative.

welcome to the forum! point is all makers have good and not so good models. I am not an expert either. so my motto is 'buy what you like and like what you buy' I don't pay any attention to the nitpickers, naysayers, biased towards a certain manu members.

there is no such thing as 'the' perfect model.

I have found several Dragon Warbirds...very nice detail and finish. I just have to get used to switching from 1/48 to 1/72 scale, they are small!
