Default Dassault Mirage 2000 N

Dassault have just released a new Mirage 2000 N (100 years of La Fayette) in 1:72 scale. I have just ordered one of these and and a Rafale M. The last time I ordered from them, minimum postage covered the cost of 2 models.
I will post some pictures when they arrive, which may take a while.

My Dassault Mirage 2000 N has arrived via UPS, so it was quicker than my previous order. The model is quite nice, although the pitot tube is a bit bent. It is made of plastic and quite pliable, but I wont try to straighten it until the model is going on display. Overall it is a good looking model, but the black paint is a bit of a dust magnet.

Nice model.

Don't be afraid, this should be easy to straighten the pitot tube.

These photos just prove (to me) my thinking was right years ago, when, after a few exotic HobbyMaster Phantoms were released, I got to realise these finishes were making the models look like expensive toys. So I stayed well clear of these “toys”…..
Looks great on the real thing, but is toyish on miniatures..
I just buy models now portraying service and combat colours, as the word model implies!!
rather than “colours for a day”…….
Umpire, mburkhard, Jumper and 2 others like this.

Unfortunately most of NATO planes are just gray ...

So if you want something else than a gray paint and a few roundels you need to get these Tiger meet or Special camos that indeed make the scale models to look toy-ish.

The model is based on the display aircraft shown in the included postcard. No armaments are included and it looks like the hard points have been ground down. It is not a pretty sight from below, but wont be seen when on display. I would have preferred an operational scheme with armaments, but hopefully that will come with a future release. I have a few nice models with special paint schemes, but have never much liked 'Tiger Meet' schemes. I think a white 'anti-flash' 2000 N would look good, but I don't know if such a thing ever existed.
