Default Looking for a large B-17...any suggestions?

Hey Guys,

Brand new to this hobby and am looking for a large B-17. Somewhere in the neighborhood of maybe 1:48 or larger even. What are my options...how much is that going to set me back?

Ive seen the franklin mint ones and they are pricy...anything else I should be considering?

Look up Franklin Mint B-17 in ebay and you should get a start. You might find some FM B-17's at Aikens Diecast also.

They Actually released quite a few of them.

B17G "Nine O' Nine"
B17F Memphis Belle
B17G Tondalayo
B17G General Ike
B17G Swiss Air
B17G RAF (MK III) "Give It to Uncle"
B17G "A Bit O Lace"
B17G "Carolina Moon"
B17F Sweet and Lovely B17 Air Sea Rescue (which is an odd one).

Plenty to choose from. I have one in my Hanger, "A Bit O' Lace". Large and heavy. They make a great centre piece surrounded by 1:48 Mustangs and T-Bolts.

Try corgi aviation archive range, from £100 to £150 each, they're good

I've got the Franklin Mint 1:48 General Ike B-17 and love it. I also have the FM 1:48 Dragon and its Tail B-24 and its cool also. Very big models. I got mine years ago for $125 each. Seemed high back then, but very low now.

Franklin Mint / Armour is your best bet for the B-17 in 1/48 scale. I have the whole selection and can tell you , they look great if you have the room to display and afford the shipping with insurance (especially outside the US) due to weight and size (B-24, PBY, Ju-52, HeIII and to a lesser degree B-25, B-26, DC-3/C-47 share the same fate.)

Good luck - if you need more info contact me via PM.
