The squadron wings hawk was a valiant effort by a prominent figure in the diecast world in the UK. Unfortunately, I think it not unfair to judge it a failure - these have for many years been sold (or left unsold) even at deeply, deeply discounted prices (i've seen them as low as 15 pounds).
I've never gotten one. On reflection, this probably has less to do with the scale / subject matter and more to do with, well, the cockpit. The cockpit is highly visible on this aircraft. It's underdetailed and just wrong with the pilots sitting just too low. HM it seems has chosen not to invest in improving this.
(Above image shows the HM "children in the cockpit" and also a poorly fitting canopy, though the latter might just be a photosession assembly issue)
So, the question is: has anybody improved it? The obvious way would be with the Wolfpack details Hawk T.1 resin cockpit set. Would be interested in seeing anybody's good results to see if it's worth a go - I'd then maybe go for a RN Hawk - maybe the one with the lightning bolt on the tail if they ever did it.
