Default HobbyMaster F117A "Gray Dragon"

My HobbyMaster F117A "Grey Dragon" arrived recently. While the color scheme matches the real plane, it is bland in the extreme. Having now seen the model in real life, I much prefer the previous black versions. I presume that a future release will have the green/brown camo as done by Franklin Mint. I will probably get one to complete the set, but it will most likely sit at the back of the display case.

thanks for the honest assessment. I think it's very important to be very judicious when choosing grey aircraft and even then prepare to be disappointed at times.

Yes, grey schemes can be problematic, especially the light grey ones. Having said that, I have just ordered a HobbyMaster F-35C. At least it has a ****load of ordnance to distract me from the plain grey paintjob. To be fair to the F-117A, stealth planes are not meant to be flashy. I would kind of defeat their purpose.

Thanks for the pictures dollfin and review.

I have the first release (ODS release) and I am unsure if I keen for more. But HM appears to have done a decent job of it.

Just regarding the Franklin Mint green/brown, I could be wrong, but wasn't that a "what if" scheme in RAF guise??
