Default Russian bird future best choice?

In my small Russian jets collection I have got:

- Mig-21MF Fishbed Sao Do Vietnam 1072 (HM 0182),
- Mig-23M Flogger Brandenburg East Germany 1970 (HM 5301),
- Mig-25P Foxbat Belenko Japan 1976 (HM 5601),
- Mig-29 Fulcrum (ALtaya),
- SU-24M Fencer White 16 ("the famous" Russian CBW 722401) ; ordered,
- SU-35 Flanker (Altaya),
- SU-35S Flanker Black 902 Airshow 2009 (HM 5701).

I know the Altaya models quality is not so high.

Definitely I want to get the Iraqi Mig-21MF (HM 0105).

What could be a good choice to complete my collection ? I think about the next models to be issued by HM...

Before answering, don't forget two important things:

1) I'm not a specialist like most of you (important disease part 1),
2) I'm just French (important disease part 2).

Thanks!

Anything really if you're not fussed about accuracy.

Famous saying around here, buy what you like and like what you buy, I think it was Tomcatter that coined that phrase.

no, i think monsieur rbj coined that phrase.

the altayas did do schemes other manufacturers shunned in the past. they were good for what they are... and decently priced too.

no need to apologise to anyone about your collection... unless you criticise yellow leading wing edges, swore not to buy one, but bought it anyway... coz they dumped

In all seriousness, the first 7-8 HM Fishbeds are great, as were there Fagots.

If your after Flankers, just by pass what HM have currently made for the Su-27, ok the Indo Flnakers weren't bad. JC Wings also do Flankers but most of their colours are off too. Any of the HM Su-35s are alright and their Su-33 is soon to be out. JC Wings does the Su-30.

Digital Ukrainian frogfoot is a must.

North Vietnamese J-5 from HM is probably going to be the best that mould will see.

Fullback you have your choice of HM and soon JC Wings, just wait for a scheme you like.

Finally the Fulcrum, JC Wings are the only manu currently doing it, well so is Herpa but their pricing and schemes are crazy. No new Fulcrums from them for awhile now.

Oops nearly forgot, Calibre are doing more grey Fencers but you have 1 so you probably won't want to sell your other kidney for another one

Otherwise, i like the Su-27, you have the choice, HA6001 or the next HA6006

Add the CalWings SU-22 maybe this year or the next?
A HM MiG-29 is a MUST imo
MiG-27 Not many operators, no more than 10. Some nice schemes to be done to warrant this version of the Flogger. Cuban MiG 27 would be a great start!

more likely next. they've got their hands full getting the robotech stuff out this year, and correcting their fencers.

True. We will hopefully see improvement on wave 2. Then I will patiently wait for wave 3 to be released. Nosecone antenna needed viagra and pitot tubes needed to lay off the viagra. These bendy parts can be fixed with aftermarket or just harder plastic. Paint rubs like I saw on some of the examples here are a no no period. Should never leave factory like that.Especially not on a $180 model.

the scuffs are probably due to the tight fitting wing gloves. i've seen them on my tomcats and have kept the wings fully deployed since. but that antenna and pitot... you really gotto read noel's comments on their fb page to actually shake your head in utter astonishment. then again, i probably wasn't paying attention during my high school science classes

If your not fussed about colours, go for the latest Soviet Su-27 from JC Wings, 35usd difference between JCW and HM and HM's aren't right either so why bother paying more.

Cuban scheme deffo for me. I mentioned wanting this to be done in one of my earlier threads. I'd love an Angolan and East German Mig 23 too.

Is there a specific era of Air Power that you prefer? Do you collect Cold War era migs in addition to modern fighter aircraft? Because HM makes a great Mig-15 and Mig-21 in the North Vietnamese Air Force schemes that will pair up nicely with their F-14J Phantoms and F-105D Thunderchiefs And if you have an F-8 Crusader from Century Wings then that will work even better. You'll have an instant collection on your hands just from this list of planes right here. A little off topic but Hobby Master even makes the planes who were piloted by Robin Olds and Stevie Ritchie, who were both legendary aces during the Vietnam War

Very true. The Vietnam War has been well and truly covered by various manufactures,...even Corgi.

The MIG 19 is an interesting,...its just not the Vietnam War that would make it popular but the Arab/Israeli conflicts should also give it some game.

I suspect the MIG19 does not have the well name name like the MIG15, 17 and 21, which is why its on the back burner with HM.

HM have announced the MIG29 and MI 24, so I figure it will still be a while before the "Farmer" gets a guernsey.

Thanks guys for all your comments!

I forgot to include the Altaya Mig-31 Foxhound in my list.

I also forgot to tell you that my apartment is not so big (!), therefore I try to focuse on few countries (France / UK / USA / USSR-Russia).

But according to your comments and my last investigations I think I will go for:

- Iraqi Mig-21MF (HA0105),
- SU-25M1 Frogfoot Ukrainian Air Force 2014 (HA6102)... for the camo!,
- SU-35 Flanker E 2012 (HA5705),
- SU-34 Fullback Syria 2015 (HA6301),

And hope that HM will issue soon a Mig-29 Fulcrum.

Comment about HM SU-27 mould make me think about it.

I'm also fascinated by the Vietnam period... I've got some A-1, A-4, A-6, A-7, F-8, F-100, F-105, F-111 and about 15 Spooks.
