Default What should be Hobby Masters next mould ?

I'd like to see them do a MiG-29 fulcrum, it's the natural progression for their Soviet moulds.

Curious.... I see the title of this thread which you started....

Then I'm aware of this thread you started as well....

https://www.diecastaircraftforum.com...-releases.html

IMO they mean they say thing, no? New releases or new moulds could mean the same.

Did you give up on your previous thread with 56k plus views?

Inquiring minds want to know

Eh...I don't see these two threads being in conflict with one another. The other thread is more of a catch all kind of wishlist thread where we can discuss and debate possible releases that Hobby master could do on either existing molds with new liveries or different squad members, where as this is the thread for what Hobby Master might consider as their next big push for a brand new mold. Something that has never been done before and defies precedent.

So with that in mind, my choice would be either the C-5 Galaxy, the RAF Tornado, The Tu-95 Bear or the U-2 Spy plane

BA your analysis is compelling...

So then for me I would like to see the post Korean pre Vietnam F9F Cougar ... among its missions for reconnaissance... It was also used by The Blue Angels and VF-61 Jolly Rogers. Those would fit in nicely to my Blue Angels historical airframes theme and my Jolly Rogers historical airframe theme

Spot on.

I too would like to see a Tu-95 but in 1/144, never did like Herpa's overpriced 1/200 mould which was gears down only and not very detailed.

F9F Cougar would also be nice but I think HM would do it I'm 1/48 considering they already have a F9F Panther in that scale. Although if they did a -8 with Sidewinders, I may consider the up scaled version but my preference is still for it in 1/72.

You'll be old and gray and partially blind before you blurrily see an HM copy of that bird Better grab one while you can as it exists now ... and apply the standard forum 3 foot viewing distance rule.....or...... A little Deep Gap Ready Mix Filler and some Testor silver paint, and your good to go

I was actually thinking about this last night some more and I would love to see the scrapped General Dynamics F-111 B that would eventually be scrapped by the US Navy in favor of the F-14 Tomcat. I don't think any company has ever made a B model of the F-111 before. I wonder if the specs even still exist after all these years.

They can't/won't do any Dassault planes because of the exorbitant license fee- that's why they stopped doing the Mirage 2000.

Here's what may or may not still exist....

https://www.urbanghostsmedia.com/201...ave-scrapyard/

IMO I suspect a Diecast model of a F-111B unlikely....

Making moulds bottom line is profitability..... If you can't assign multiple schemes to manufacture off one mould.... It just ain't worth making it.

The F-111B never made it past testbed status....

That's true but still....This year would have marked the 50th anniversary of that aircraft. Talk about a lost opportunity.

That's understandable plus Dassault have their own shop and obviously try discourage manufacturers to make any Dassault products. My assumption anyway. It's a pity as I'm a huge fan of the Mirage F1 and was hoping to see these made one day!

Otherwise descarding the Dassault position,I'm hoping to see a SU-24 made by HM. Calibre made these but they sold like gold nuggets and can't get any now. Plus they were mighty expensive.

I don't think there's any point to this, not unless Calibre go bust. It would be nice to think niche models like Su-22 -24 -25 have a big market but really they don't. By the time HM came out with theirs, everyone would have gotten the 1-2 models they wanted from Calibre.

As for selling like gold nuggets, I don't think so, not at retail level anyway. And only because it's obvious less then 800 were made.

If you look at JC Wing production numbers, it's clear that less then 800 units is more then enough to satisfy demand. For example they started making 720 units per a Flanker and now it's 600, some of that could be because HM have a competing mould now and therefore less demand but I believe the world of zinc is shrinking not expanding.

I would like to see HM make a 1/48 version of the P-39. Their 1/72 version just doesn't do it justice and it would seem to fit with their recent new 1/48 warbird moulds.

A couple of wild wishes would be to see releases of the Twin Mustang and Tigercat.

That would be super sweet but I don't think HM will ever do the same aircraft in different scales, at least not same varient.

Probably lucky enough to get a B/C P-40 after they choose to do a rather pointless "N" in 1/72

Hudson/Ventura and early non turreted A20s.

UH1H

F5A

F105G

(R)F101A/C

and a very unlikely B58 in 1:72.

For a new theme, 1:144 Cold War biggies/heavies. TU22, TU16, B58, B47, U2 etc etc.

If HM could learn to mottle,...then some Italian WW2 exotica would be nice. Macchi G50, MC202/05, SM79 Sparrowhawk.

i think super etendard is a great choice in 1/72 (its just a very good looking aircraft as a model - something the mirage 3 isn't though the mirage 3 is probably a slightly more sensible business decision (slightly only because the middling falcon models release doubtlessly had some effect).

Very true,..particularly the military section of DA.C.

I hope so too. The Hobby needs all collectors, regardless on what forum they participate,...or if indeed they frequent the forums at all.

Its a bit sad,...there are only three dedicated forums for Diecast Airplanes. There was more,...…..the Diecast Flightdeck is the one most sadly missed.

That's why sites like HawkVoodooOne are so important.

I personally want to see some more WW2 stuff, but HM are not really into 1:72 with WW2. They tend to have a run in a certain theme. At moment is Russkie stuff, which I collect occasionally.

A couple of MI24 would be nice,....maybe one or two Russian MIG29s and a East German one,..should just about cover my needs.

This is me back in April of 2017 at USAF Museum. I'd take one similar to this.

I'd love that standard camo too but I'm hoping that they also take the same route they took with the flanker mold and start off with the more advanced Mig-29 just as they started with the Su-35

Mig-29KUB. This would go well with their operation Syria releases

William sure has many surprises up his sleeve, first he said he will never do the Mirage 2000 again and what do you know, he comes up with one final production run of that model.. now he promises us this new MiG-29 in the near future, what can i say i feel so privileged, just hope it ain't the same mould as the JC Wings version..

The JCW and witty's models are giving me hard time fixing the landing gears. I won't mind getting a future HM Mig-29. I like HM easy landing gear assembly.

Just had another idea for a Hobby Master's release and I might just pitch this one to William directly. An F-15A Eagle from the 318th FIS "Green Dragons"

Well, my first choice would be something...anything in WWII except the standard fair P-51, P-47, P-38, anything Grumman etc. I think the failure of the P-40 was able enough proof what happens when HM does something too commonly available.

B-26 Marauder still remains my top choice.
Anything Japanese or Russian in WWII (except Zeros)

For more modern:

A-6 Intruder -can't understand why this hasn't happened yet.
The Rafale (now that HM has at least temporarily restarted Dassault fighters)
Grumman S-2 Tracker
MiG-29...again abit of a mystery why this hasn't happened.

I'd love a Green Dragon F-15, I'd definitely buy one.

For new mold, I was thinking the U-2 would be an excellent choice, in both major variants. Several interesting schemes available, a fairly legendary aircraft and huge contributor to world history, and gee wouldn't you know it ROCAF schemes to do in both versions! Win-win for HM!

Its a very cool scheme, no doubt.

Dragon actually released one, way back when. Theirs included the ASAT Missile and its a quite sort after model, fetching a decent price.

It maybe a bit of a what-if effort as I have no photographic evidence that the 318th FIS F15 ever carried one. Some airframes were fitted for the ASAT,....but I think the program was cancelled before the missile was ever delivered to McChord AFB, where the Green Dragons lived.

Incidentally, HM released a F106 with the 318FIS. Probably their best release,...and also bloody difficult to find second hand.

witty released one too: https://www.flyingmule.com/products/WT-WTW72005-10 but yeah, they're almost impossible to get one's hands on these days.

Forgot about the Witty one.

Franklin Mint also released a 318 FIS F15 in 1:48,...which I actually have.

F15 in 1:48, is impressive.

I remember the Green Dragons made by Witty. Came out in 2005 as I recall. Either way we are long overdue for a new one. And HM already has an F-15A mold that they have only used once so unless it's been retired I'm sure they're chomping at the bit to use it again.

Just heard back from William and his response was "Very Nice. Thank You." I can't honestly say if this is an encouraging sign or not since his last reply when I suggested the Black Aces tomcat was just as succinct. Then again the Tomcat eventually saw a release so who knows...

well, seeing as to how hm has a penchant for anniversary stuff... and what a hit their ra'am was, we'd probably see this before the green dragons sees the light of day:
What should be Hobby Masters next mould ?-iaf-f-15i-raam-independence-day-2017-tel-nof-ize-162.jpg
but back to topic... gotto agree with monsieur mmarsh with regard to japanese ww2 stuff. am impartial to the raiden but very much doubt hm would ever do that. they've done kate in 72s so unless they go the p40 route... very much doubt they'd come out with a 48 kate. so my next best guess would be an oscar/val. mebbe... just mebbe

Was the P-40 a failure though ?

Some decent Japanese and Russian WWII models would be nice, so far the only ones doing anything in that space were the el cheapo brands

Why not A-6 and A-7 from HM, perhaps the luke warm reception the Prowler and Vigi received changed HW's mind to expend the Navy moulds

As for MiG-29, would you believe me if I said many many MANY moons ago, HM planned on releasing this in 1:200 ? Glad they came to their senses but why the looooong wait for 1/72 if at all true ?

(Because I knew you wouldn't believe me )
