That is true for hobby master, even then, HM QC looks slightly better coming out of Bangladesh but it seems as though they make more errors with production vs original plan.

wish we had an "inspired by [aircraft manufacturer], manufactured by [ukrainian falcons] and made in germany" models...
... oh yeah, and the tagline, "by collectors, for collectors!"

Agreed, it would need to be made in Deutschland for the upmost premium quality. Then "by collectors, for collectors" might actually have some meaning to it and not some catchy phase some Chinese bothered to remember from a How to dupe western customers 101 marketing for dummies course
Damn, I wish CalWings gave me the model to review, I would have done some research and given a better review than this, this seems pretty generic lmao. Sorry to say!
Do you get to keep the model? Cuz if you do, you came up and they deserve a better review than this.
No offence to the reviewer but it does seem like CADwings picked 2 very junior collectors to review the model, almost as if they didn't want a serious review to be done.
Now the models are delayed AGAIN, perhaps the water in China takes abit longer to warm up so they can fix those antennas
If your models come with rust, that'll just be added weathering according to Noel

there's no pleasing you, eh? get senior collectors and you brand them shills. get junior collectors, and you say they're not serious
well, i think calibre wings has landed in hot water with this antenna fiasco... so no issue about warming up the water there
i think the correct term is corrosion, not rust... unless your models are made of iron/steel
time and again calibre wings comes out with awesome photographs... and again the flaws of the model show up in these shots. you draw your own conclusions. personally, i see a slanted vertical stab (it gets worse if you level the photo horizontally)

see how the horizontal stab on the starboard extends into the horizontal line? so no, it isn't fairly straight. try rotating the picture and you'll see how terribly slanted the vertical stab really is. and i haven't even touched on where that pitot is pointed towards...

I did say "fairly"
Plus I didn't want to be accused of editing. You are right, if you correct it slightly, the lean is even worse.
But there not the only manu to have this issue, HM's Czech Flogger, I've also seen this issue in person at the hobby store.
The only difference being one is a $120 model and made by reasonable people, the other is $220 and made by a clown.
Not great. Looks like a bit too much anhedral on those wings as well. My sole Calibre Tomcat was also wonky. I'd like a Fencer, but not at any cost. Glad I'm waiting for a (hopefully better) later release. I really don't get where some people's apparently unreserved praise for Calibre comes from.

hey, the sponsored reviewer is pretty sure that that su24 is a jet, not a prop. he's really, quite sure of that.
meanwhile, adour seems to have spent his weekend in some alternative universe where there is "unreserved praise" for calibre. wherever that universe is, welcome back and i hope he had a nice trip.
this and the other videos of the actual aircraft show a lot of really nice positives about this model. honestly, it looks great. but, it's not perfect, to be sure.
my question is this: nobody here AFACT has actually been able to intelligently comment on how prevalent the crooked pitot issue is or whether the suggested fix actually works. We were told nightmare stories about file marks on the wolfpack f-14 - mine arrived with no issues whatsoever. i'll be glad to post some pics and do some experiments if mine arrives in time, as i will be in china and elsewhere over the next few weeks.
Bent antenna(s) made out of cheap soft plastic
Leaning tail
Poor quality drop tanks, either forward or rear fins are wonky
Wing glove split
Misaligned wing glove hardpoints
Misaligned cockpit
Hopefully these are just limited to the freebie review copies that were given out.
The undeserved praise comes from people who aren't serious collectors (possibly newbies) who aren't experienced enough to know better, people who simply aren't that detailed or hoarders. They seem to get excited real easy without having any clue what real high quality is.
I'd put $100 FS hasn't got a freaken clue what his F-14 is like as it's never seen the light of day
The reviewer in the first YouTube link suggested, (btw he did 3 YouTube reviews, in total, for this plane) was somewhat hard in some spots for me to understand speaking quickly with accent. And me originally from NY...I thought I talked fast and sometimes incoherent ....any way at points 2:43 to 2:57 I had to loop and slowdown the audio to try to understand what the reviewer was saying....here's a transcript of what I deciphered:
"I don't think it's right to talk on video about things I don't believe is right because I think you know in terms of ah, you know the business will allow me to do that. It's the right thing to do. So I'll get back to a few bits, I think, ah nothing severe...."
My interpretation of this...is that the balancing of the review will be biased in favor of saying only general good impressions at least on video. In fairness he does mention the bent pitot.
I'm left thinking that he has noted something(s) he may consider severe but for the business (CW) sake he can't reveal it on video. If this is the case...then what a shame it's not a fully transparent review.

He nearly wet his pants at those rubber engine inserts didn't he
Poorly fitted hardpoints seem to be a very common issue for Calibre which make the drop tanks display in a wonky way and note the standard bent antenna.
Left hardpoint seems ok but the right hardpoint is really bad, s*** even Falcon Models were never this bad and they were probably the worst at fitting parts.

This reminds me of the old infomercials you'd see late at night:
"The following is a paid presentation by Calibre"
Though I'm pretty sure we know more about the problems then this guy, it's just sad Calibre had to tell reviewers (even amateur ones at that, even they could spot the issues) not to tell viewers the problems with the model.
"how prevalent the crooked pitot issue is"
from what we know, most of the shill models suffer from this. even calibre wings fb post has it. so afaik, from what i've seen, that's pretty prevalent with what's out there. as to how prevalent the common market models are, we don't know. it hasn't been released in the market yet.
"whether the suggested fix actually works" again, the model hasn't been released in the market. and i don't think calibre wings has done a 'dip before flight' video either. as a collector, i'd say the prospect of having to dip any part of a $160 model into hot water isn't something i'd look forward to, nor something that's "highly precise in construction and delivered with a high quality finish". a replacement part would've been a better solution imho.
Hmmmm, I wonder if a biased reviewer getting free model(s) could be considered a .........
Probably so, probably so..

I think in this case I'll give this person the benefit of doubt that they aren't a shill, a shill sounds like a much more organised, this guys review is anything but organised.
The deal was, you get a freebie, you don't point out the issues.
What I find funny is how Noel gave out freebies in order to market his product but the freebies have so many issues with them, are they factory rejects or Calibre's QC really is that bad, I mean this aren't their first model now so no more excuses like when they put teeth marks on Tomcats.

You sure about not being a shill ... I have my reservations .... His YouTube username is "Corgi / Diecast aviation collectors Page" He might be organized. This person has 33 reviews uploaded .... Primarily he is corgi .... Perhaps the offer of a CW freebie was to good to pass up or he sees an opportunity to branch out...

I did notice his username but seeing as he only has 16 followers and his reviews are done without the aid of shill light boxes, I gave him the benefit.
I think he's just a newbie that wanted a freebie, he doesn't have many models so if he was shilling for Corgi, we know why they are pretty much gone
I 'd to myself when I heard that too.....Yeah a shill box would have been a dead give away.
Hmmmm what if he held back mentioning defects on his corgi reviews??? (hence only 16 followers)
Well Que Sera Sera

I'm pretty sure the offical shillsperson for Calibre is FireFighterPilot, unless he just shills the Tomcats and then maybe Noel was looking for someone to shill the fences.
Plus isn't there a guy on CS3 that shills for Corgi ? Or maybe works / has a close relationship with them, this guy doing the review has 1/1000th of what Corgi ever made.
Plus isn't there a guy on CS3 that shills for Corgi ?
.... Before signing up to a forum ... I shopped around .... Looked at CS3 didn't like the format, thought it was a crappy user interface IMO .... Then DAC was found ...and the rest is history .... This is the only diecast aircraft forum I belong to ... So to answer your question, I don't know. Really, I couldn't give a RA about forums I don't belong to or visit

Well this hasn't been suggested that I know of ... It's the smallest I can find and you won't have to use hot water ... It's a dry fix .....
Of course to straighten fully, several adjustments over time will be required

Waiting for darker grey SU-24 I´m not going to buy these first wave CalW Fencers, so I tend to see glass half full . But even now, even when you have to straighten the pitot tube and with all those mistakes it looks like amazing piece of diecast (... ok, with slightly increased tolerance level ).
Anyway releasing factory promo pictures with such visibly slanted vertical stab is a bad mistake. Unnecessary mistake. I hope Calibre Wings are already informed about this problem.

To your list of needed improvements, UF, I would personally add:
rather too dark panel wash - especially from below, on white surfaces, it almost reminds me the first release FOV/Unimax F-14 Jolly Rogers. I would prefer bit more decent wash. Hope this will be improved too in second wave.

No offense to you Ladia .... But those panel lines look like someone used a black Sharpee pen on them
That can't represent reality, could it??

Anyway you should know that what you see is really a factory effort: on their first Tomcat have FOV heavily overdone panel wash, it was maybe the worst panel wash in the industry ever.
You can google pictures by yourself, but its quite hard to find today.
Here´s how it looked from topside:
FOV beginner´s mistake, their later releases were actually very good as you can check here:

Haha how do you know if he is a Junior collector he may well have hundreds of models and been collecting for years unless you know the guy
Maybe some collectors will like the top panel wash and others won't. I'm still wating for my -01 Soviet from diecastairplane.com.
Panel wash is generally very Ok for me, anytime.
Top panel wash on CalW SU-24 doesn´t look so exaggerated - from available photos it looks fine to me. Only the black panel wash on lower white surfaces looks way overdone: https://youtu.be/D0N0P6_YHvY?t=86
Time points 1:24 - 1:26 .... First....in the reviewers own words, his personal disclaimer "If your an Idiot like me"
Time points 4:52 - 4:56 .... "you got cannon or you got missle for this point on the wing".......
Time points 8:24 - 8:27 .... "you got the cannon on the ... (incoherent word) ... the cannon there and that's twistable"........
What he calls a cannon is a rocket pod mounted, which in turn is indicative of the reviewers idiocy
If your going to review from experience and speak with ... accented superior pompous knowledge .... then at least try to be precise in using the correct words to describe something .... In this case, and I don't have superior knowledge , but the "cannon" looks to be a B-8M1 rocket pod for the S-8 rockets.

Well if his video reviews are any indication of the size of his collection, I count roughly less then 40, at most 50, I didn't check the whole videos though.
His shed also shows (in a few messy way) not a big collection.

Do you think this is a clever plan set out by Noel? All the FB fanboys that blow their load over staged marketing photos rather then in the metal photos think, he's an idiot... wow, I'm an idiot too, maybe Calibre models are by idiots for idiots ....
he's an idiot... wow, I'm an idiot too, maybe Calibre models are by idiots for idiots ....
it took me awhile to stop laughing....I was tearing and peeing at the same time.....
This only proves that CW hires self proclaiming idiots, not figuratively but literally to review models in which nothing could be said bad about defects.
Ahhhh CW.....always good for a laugh and the butt of jokes
It's a Happy Thanksgiving entertainment for me ....
To those who do celebrate Thanksgiving ... May it be a Happy one for you and yours

You liked that hey, thought you might
Maybe instead of a Premium range of models, there should be an Idiots range because that's really where this hobby is ending up with all the errors and excuses
