Thanks for the pictures! That F-16 is very impressive and I really like that F-14 over water diorama!

Those Su24s look much better than the pre-pros that we saw before - possibly becuase of a wash or because of photographic technique.

I know I am not. I wasn't going to anyway, takes up too much space. I am just pointing out that the prices are getting out of hand.

Well, cost has been an issue since the beginning of diecast time and its silly to get outraged about it. All of us have spent many thousands of dollars (or whichever currency) on model aircraft that sit on shelves, but an $80 diorama is outrageous lol. Silly

$80 for that diorama base will attract a lot more attention from people who happen to see your collection than the next 5 (to your non-specialist visitors) same-ish jets combined. i'd buy it. moreover, i am on the lookout for any 1/48 marushin stands if anybody knows where to get some.

Ergo like the fantasy of the painting so is the fantasy of the diorama. I would be more impressed with a F-14 breaking the sound barrier showing it fly through the vapor ring in a diorama.

By all means, if there are pics of an actual F-14 showing the same kind of wave trail as depicted in the CW diorama...I for one would like to see it posted by anyone

That’s because Fantasy Wings take most of their followers for fools

I’m surprised they haven’t done the Top Gun models yet, since nonsense seems to be their thing.

I'm thinking CW left out the additional Water Skis option for an additional cost and of course an additional wait ........ then you can use the CW fantasy Macross/Robotech F-14 with the fantasy Wave Base. IMO that looks to be more of a match

Not sure what to think of this.....As if CW doesn't have enough to do....they have introduced a line called "Imaginarium" ???

It seems to me ... It's another word for Fantasy!

So, CW can't come up with better accuracy then independent modelors???

So, now they'll produce these based on hobbyists models....

I'll admit there are some great modelors out there and some great and accurate depictions.

However, for this new line...CW can throw modelors under the bus when a released model has inaccuracies.

My Opinion.

As blue, no. I don’t think I’ve heard a single person who is happy with that release since Noel personally preferred the change

Yeah if you read the comments on their Facebook page, it seems like most of their followers are not serious collectors of military aircraft but anime fans.

I have no problem if they want to make fantasy nonsense, if they sell and it helps fund more serious projects, great but when it delays the current serious releases, then I have a problem, enough is enough

The circle-jerk pile-on on calibre wings, a new company that is in the main moving towards providing higher quality models to a range of hobby interests is getting more than a bit ridiculous at this point. i dont see anything to suggest that CalW has had particularly more accuracy issues than, say, Hobbymaster or Century wings. Is CalW perfect? Of course not. Was their public response to that ******* customer unprofessional? Sure. Should we hold their feet to the fire in a reasonable way to continue to encourage them to keep the quality and accuracy of their models high? Absolutely.

But I'm not going to raise a stink if they happen to creatively use the same moulds to cater to other markets. Good on em, i say - a way to keep more people happy and keep costs down. In fact, I don't usually buy 'fantasy' schemes but I strongly considered asking a friend at the shizuoka show to buy one of the bluecats for me (but for whatever reason it didn't happen - though i might still buy one if they were available online).

This picking on every little CalW flaw has become some sort of cancerous meme on this forum. They make decent models. They look to make new and innovative moulds of niche subjects in the future. They have decent potential in a market otherwise dominated by one player. Losing them would be a huge shame.

Really FS, I am in favor of the competition of a new company to break into this market...but I see CW slightly different. IMO it should stick to it's core lineup for which it touted...to paraphase the gist....produce exquisite fine quality art.. and undoubtedly there justification for it's high pricing.

Now for this new lineup "Imaginarium" ..... I am under the mindset that at this juncture of its early existence, diversifying so early would be problematic in keeping commitments of its first products lineup. Diversifying new lines may cause further delay's unless of course CW has added more factory assembly production lines and increased shipping schedule to meet this new product line.

Diversity in a young company's life is not always a good thing....diversity also means desperation for some struggling companies to which they are spreading themselves thin in order to generate revenue to keep the company afloat. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

FS you can consider me a circle-jerk....it's OK

not true... calibre wings does not have a monopoly on being picked on for every little flaw. yellow wing edges gets bash equally

ok, here's the thing... you don't see other manufacturers pooh pooh their competition and if flooding the field with more manufacturers to maintain the competition is paramount, then i don't see why tsm wing shouldn't be getting more support. you're right, if calibre can make more people happy, then power to them so no, the nitpicking isn't gonna drive them to the ground. at the end of the day it boils down to their products... they speak for themselves. but they're not doing themselves any favours for not churning out more models as new models generate interests which translates to income. i don't think anyone would wanna see the demise of any diecast aircraft manufacturer. witty used to get flak, but when they closed their doors, it wasn't because of any criticism we threw at them... and it was sad to see them go eventhough some of their stuff were labelled as garbage (remember their snoopy nosed legacy hornets?).

monsieur bb, doubt that diversity means desperation in calibres case. macross/robotech just seems to be noel's obssession... and i understand that. i'm a macross/robotech fan myself, but no, the macross/robotech inspired tomcats don't appeal to me as they fail to capture the essence of transformable models. but that's just me. and again personally, my view is that the "imaginarium" models should've been left to it's sister company, calibre toys instead of calibre wings.

My thoughts exactly. How many F-16s F-14s can the market take? I mean if you look at HM you can find every known F-16 scheme in existence...we don't need anymore. How about a decent A-6 Intruder? Aside from Century Wings (which are both rare and expensive) there isn't any. Classic USN Attack Aircraft in service for almost 40 years.

There are so many other things they could so instead. However, that being said, I am glad they did an SU-24, were I modern jet collector that would be on the top of my list.

Did no one ask that question when HM went into the Tomcat biz with the EXACT same mold as Century Wings, a model that had been criticized by collectors for years because of its “inaccuracies?” At least the Calibre Wings entry is actually new and offers goodies like a numbered COA. BTW, I’ve been eyeing sales of these different F-14 on EBay, and NONE of them appear to be “flying off of the shelves.” So yeah, the market for “premium diecast Tomcats” really does appear to be glutted with product. I own two Century and one Calibre F-14, and don’t anticipate further purchases of the type.

actually people did ask that exact question but i think it got overshadowed by the promise of a century wings tomcat at a fraction of its price

coa are goodies? is that what this hobby has come down to? ooh... shiny limited edition cards. woeee! i got to get me one of those!

well to be fair, hm and calibre wings have brought more squadron schemes to the table. hence, although there may be a glut of tomcats, lots of different squadrons AND schemes to be had. it gives collectors a choice and that's not a bad thing. and the glut only forces the market to adjust its prices accordingly. another plus really.

Umm, the bulk of your comment is well taken, but HM's mould is NOT repeat NOT repeat NOT the same as Century Wings. I guess you either don't have one of each or haven't looked very carefully.
