Default Repair help

I have HM1994 RF-4EJ Phantom. The pitot tube has broken off. I emailed William at Hobby Masters and he is sending me a new nose cone assembly. Any good ideas on how to remove the old nose cone assembly. Thanks.

wow a whole new nose cone based on a broken nose probe? why not just glue the nose probe back on? it's tricky and might require a little paint touch up, but still this is not a bad way go to.

im not expert, but i'm guessing theat the nose piece is glued on basically with some superglue variant and the 'careful' way to remove it would be, well, with tiny levers of force taking care not to damage the fuselage piece. however, this is likely to cause damage to the fuselage piece. a better answer therefore is to take a dremel tool and, once you are sure that you have a replcement nose, to simply grind off the unneeded nose. it destoys it, but the separation should be better. as a bonus, you can then also shape the connecting bits a bit for the new nose as hm rf nose joins are often not great.

I normally do try to glue the broken pitot tube back on. The plane arrived from a dealer in a damaged box, plastic cradle broken and missing a part. Broken pitot tube was no where to be found. This was the last one the dealer had and told me to keep it and gave me a credit for the full price of the plane. I needed to replace the missing part, front main gear door in the up position and took a shot at getting a new nose cone.

i wonder if hm will send me a new fuselage. dealer, who on balance is probably not bad but with whom i always seem to have some trouble or another, offered me only to return it at my expense.

Not sure about Wiliam at HM replacing a whole airframe body. I have over 300 HM planes and have been collecting them since day one. Have gone to William many times for replacement of broken or misplaced parts. The only time he could not help me out is with any parts from the Mirage 2000 series. Great customer service, replies with requests with in days and shipping time is usually less then 2 weeks.
