why wait till saturday what you can post today... especially something that looks this good!
that's one blackbird i've yet to add into my inventory. it'll definitely make it eventually... and i just may do another blackbird elephant walk shot. just may.
Ahhhh....Trip your choice of picture above is even less reality unless your living in the "mirror mirror" universe ..... Zooooooom in on the wording of the first plane in the foreground.... You had a fifty fifty shot
I know a few here demean CW on the inlets but overall, the Century Wings SR-71 is one of the best models still in die cast to grace collectors shelves. Despite a similar livery schemes, it has consistently sold well and demands higher prices on the secondary market. Both indicators of a popular and good model within the collecting community.
I have 3 right now and have debated getting many more. Yes, the thought of lining them up like in the pictures above for display is extremely tempting given how nice the CW models are even with the few flaws they have.

I'm going to have to strongly disagree. Pointing out that the intake spikes are wrong is not "demeaning" the model, it's stating a fact - they are wrong. Sure, it's big, it's black, it's impressive, but still very wrong. I don't agree that strong sales necessarily indicate a good model either. What it indicates to me is demand for a popular subject. People want SR-71s, and I'm absolutely one of them. I think it also suggests (as do several other toolings), that for many collectors good paint trumps shape and mechanical accuracy. Don't get me wrong, I want good paint too, but it doesn't excuse gross inaccuracy.
Mine look great on display (it's hard to notice the spikes from the side). However, if someone releases a good quality, accurate, fully detailed release (so that's not CW's or AF1's, they fail for different reasons) - they're all off for scrap.

if all else fails, they make for good hacking weapons during a zombie apocalypse... provided they don't fall apart at the seams
Just like CW's F-14, they were only the best while there was no competition. People already herald Calwings as the new gold standard for F-14 (don't know why with all the scratches over their models and those cheese grater wing gloves ) I sure if Calwings were to make a Sr-71, hype alone will send fan boys running for the Kleenex and a massive dump of models on the secondary market.
