I'm a bit afraid to try remove it with a knife, because it can cause damage to the paint, but since I've noticed that it's a bit annoying

Tampo can be removed with nail polish remover. If you want to remove the extra mark then put some on a cotton bud and gently rub over the marking.

Yup, nail polish remover, tiny amount. But it will be pretty tricky. Don't even think of taking a knife to it.

Just when I thought HM had produced a perfect gem. I would have never noticed it until it was pointed out. Now it bugs the s**t out of me. I'll just have to live with it I guess. Not brave enough to take nail polish remover to a $128.00 model.

Nail polish remover worked for me on 1:43 diecast car models which have a layer of varnish on it, but what will happen on this model to the "blue" color of the scheme that under the bomb marks?
It can also become faded... (Maybe)

A person who don't have the model always can buy the Decals version of it, choose any number he want and without any bugs (which knowing).

BUT, it's decals
I've search specific the HA5702 Red 06 that is fully painted, To remove any concern for the perfection of the model over the years.

Sorry "plane737"

If you overdo it, you will fade then strip the paint underneath and possibly run into other bomb markings. So only a tiny amount at a time and patience.

There has to be an easier way. Oh well. I can hardly see it now that it is my display case.

Well, I have changed the color of the “blue/mint” element inside the cockpit behind the pilot’s seat.
It indeed was blue in the Flankers of the Russian navy, in the 902 prototype model and in some on the purple flankers, but on this scheme it should be black.
Now it looks fantastic!

Good point, nice work. I'll have to take a closer look at mine and see if I'll bother.

This really does look like a nice bit of metal: your (collective) photos are really making me wish I had more space!

I had a go at Makinen's mod and it was dead easy as long as you have transparency glue so you don't fog the canopy. Thoroughly recommended.

How did you remove the piece from the canopy? Don't want to touch it before trying anything

It came out cleanly with little force, just rocking it back and forth a few times.

Like Adour said, with a little force it came apart from the canopy, and after painting, attached it carefully with a very small amount of transparent glue.

Well folks if you want to add on the R-77 missiles to your model, now you can.

To be honest, this HW1004 set has disappointed me. HM modelled R-77 missiles just basicly, toy-like if you want. I惴 speaking about grid fins which look like shapeless stubs to me. And painting them black didn愒 help the result too.

Check below IMHO far better efforts from Witty/ JCW / Herpa / Gaincorp / AF1:

Original R-77:

Source: Bharatbakshak

Witty:

Gaincorp: (thanks for the picture, Jan )

And my favourite - AF1. What a beauty:

Missile fins. Small detail you can say, but what a difference. Beauty of scale models is largely in details (correct details). Just my opinion.

Anyway all other manus simply wanted to deliver accurate fins (within limits of their technological capabilities of course). Here again I must highlight AF1 effort: yes, even AF1 beats HM here. How sad: now I realize that with R-77 HM actually again (next to their modern pilot figures) delivered actually the worst in diecast (don't take my word for it here please, I haven愒 check all those Aliexpress / Taobao chinese-made Toy Flankers and their R-77s; I had "serious" manus in mind).

Yes, HM missile set is easy to use. Just attach and thats it. And they may even look acceptable ... from 1metre /3 ft. But for me, I惻l better get next R-77 missiles from Herpa or buy ICM plastic kit.

Note:
Cheaply also look those deep ejector pin marks on HW1004 R-77s. Also here愀 not very much professionalism ...

You don't notice the details on the Witty version till your about 3cm / 30mm away though

The ejector pin marks are pretty bad, what's worse is that all it would of taken to make it look a little nicer is rotate the missile abit more so the pin marks aren't facing outwards but I'm guessing even that requires too much throught at HM.

Or just simply use a better way to manufacture them and pass the cost onto the collector 🤭 😂
