I haven´t seen Herpa 1/72 F-16 in the flesh either, but until other guys reply you, maybe can help you information that Herpa is using old Witty molds. To be even more correct - models are made in JC Wings China factory for Herpa from old Witty molds. So in the meanwhile you can search DAC forum for Witty F-16 issues (which certainly are some.......hmmmm .... many?)

Hi
Not sure if this is still relevant, recently I purchased the Herpa Hellenic Air Force Lockheed Martin F-16C (Block 52) - Zeus Demo Team and was really impressed with the scheme, the model itself is nice and solid, all attachments slotted and fitted well, with no issues. I am no expert on the detailing of the plane, as an enthusiast of die cast military aircraft I like it.
Only thing that is a downer is the stand are sold separately, I have attached an image to show hope this helps.

Welcome aboard, Almac!

Herpa F-16 model/mold originally comes from Witty, and Witty used to sell their stands separately for an additional income. Herpa took over this policy.
For sure, Witty stands are worth buying, they are widely considered as best and best looking stands in diecast.

Witty stands can also be used for many other non Witty/Herpa/JCW models. If you are interested, you´ll find some threads on DAC forum, best by searching: "witty stands" and "witty stands" dac forum on Google (unfortunately - and strangely - DAC forum Advanced Search doesn´t offer searching the exact phrase like ´Witty stands´).

Below are the 3 F-16 display stands mfg'd (or branded) by Witty Wings, JC Wings, and Herpa....

The $69K question are all three from the same mould and has the same stand to plane attachment points?

If so, then anyone of these brands should in theory work for any F-16 ever mfg'd by WW, JCW, and Herpa....

So then it's a matter of dollars and sense...where to buy with the lowest overall price (including shipping)

If not....and Herpa's is somewhat different (not in looks, but attachment points method) ..then as painful as the Herpa price is for their branded stand....it's the only one that will match up with their planes IMO

The model planes I have in flight using stands are the ones from Hobby Master, Calibre Wings and Century Wings, which are relatively straight forward to set up.
Although Calibre Wings, can be finicky to set up the plane on the stand.
I like to have the plane in flight is my preference.

Curious questions..... For as much as you take great satisfaction in a fully loaded out plane, how is it you don't take advantage of a stand to present it in all its full glory? Why be fully loaded and on landing gear where you don't get a full perspective of the loadout visually, to display? Unless of course, your fully loaded, landing geared planes are sitting on a mirrored surface to see the underside load reflected. IMO seems to defeat the purpose of a full load and not on a stand.....just an observation to each his own of course.

Herpa, JC, Witty stands...THE-EXACT-SAME. Including the attachment point.

The only variance I have seen is the Gemini Aces stand, the big 'A'...the attachment to the model is the same, but the angle of display is slightly different, and the screw to hold it is shorter IIRC. So I have had one stand collapse, once - learned that lesson, the screws while looking are identical, aren't the same!

But other than that, the Witty/Gemini/JC/Herpa models have beefed up exhausts (especially compared to Hobby Master models), designed for long-term display on their stands.
