Finally my Calibre Wings Jolly Rogers Tomcat has landed today, very happy overall, wing gloves in good shape, unlike riceless pictures, I ve been lucky on this !!!
However, no stand in the box, the one with 3 legs shown on the box, and on pictures,
Was the guy controlling boxes sleeping ?......
the only issue for me with Calibre Wings Tomcat
Yes, thanks for posting your delivery Tomcat380 & good to hear you received good quality.. Per UF, it would be great if you can post some pics if you have time. I am also trying to figure out which distributors seem to have taken delivery of decent models. I also wonder if a certain SN# batch was more affected such as the last builds.
Thanks for the pics Tomcat380. The glove vanes on yours are a little rough, but don't look too bad. I noticed on a full shot pic, your canopy was not closed all the way down. Are you able to close the canopy so it sits flush with the windshield? This was another complaint from a collector on another forum.
So far this looks like the best retail copy. But I can't help but notice the gap along the leading edge, I guess that's the price to pay for those moveable vanes. fuselage to nose section gap which everyone hated on CW/HM is probably at its worst with Calwings
Sorry guys, even as a newbie I have to say this is bull-crap...
You guys paid approx. 150 hard-earned $ or equivalent of your country's currency for this!!!
Anything other than straight lines, immaculate colors and prints should be unacceptable!
If they reduced the price down to 29.99, well ok then, why not? But at 150$?!?!
NO, everyone who has anything other than an immaculate model should return it for a full refund as a courtesy to other collectors if not for your own wallet's sake.
The manufacturers should know that they can't do that!
They only make 1000 of these, it's really not that hard to have ONE PERSON sit there for 3 eight hour shifts and spend 2 minutes per model to say yay or neigh on a model!
CW's are +$220aud here, more if you can't buy from a local store and need it shipped, I imagine Calwings will be priced similar, can you imagine paying upwards of $250aud ($190usd) before adding postage and getting that sort of quality
my first thoughts... not another calibre wings thread. i hope this doesn't become the norm for every collector who receives the model. monsieur tker... see what you started with your "how to guide for newbies"
the gappy glove vane and gun panel (and airbrakes) is simply the result of wanting a universal mould but i really do wonder how diecast cars come out looking so awesome with that many different parts (and medium) but diecast planes still struggle with gaps (and matching colours)
about the stands... have another look. there are quite a few trays in there.
