Default Calibre Wings Eurofighter Typhoon

Calibre Wings next big project after making themselves some Macross/Robotech fancy tomcats? They've posted it on their Facebook so we'll see... hopefully before my grandkids' grandkids

Well it looks like it'll be a tandem seat Typhoon so tell us what you think should be improved from the Witty and Corgi moulds, and what schemes do you look forward to from Calibre Wings.

A single seat version

Seriously though, only having the twin tub doesn't give much room for schemes. I am sure they will have a replaceable part there, as all manus do.

On that assumption I would like a JG71 special, an operational RAF scheme with mission tally.

I would hope for finer detail than with of the current moulds, with better figment and a better selection of ordnance available.

Pretty excited about this TBQH, fingers x'd it comes, as TC says, in our lifetime! A top quality Eurofighter is a model I have long wanted

tbh, i think witty/jcw has pretty much done all the nice schemes. most of the operational typhoons are pretty much like their viper counterparts, drab grey. but that's just me...

One big plus with calibre is they seem keen on large load outs and variety of weapons, so hopefully we'll see some good ordnance configurations offered.

Calibre are more likely, than Corgi, to share out the releases amongst the various operators. Maybe even Italian, Spanish and Austrian schemes!?

Where they not talking about maybe doing a MiG-29 on their FB a few months ago as a potential new mould? Would not mind a nice Typhoon or two.

well, they're doing customised macross/robotech so you don't really know what they're up to... and they've got like lots of teaser trailers but with the exception of the 144 viper, they've yet to get anything else on the shelves. they seem promising but may have gotten ahead of themselves with the numerous tomcat schemes announced and who knows what other tooling are in the works...

Yeah they said the Mig 29 was 'surely in the pipeline'. Oh course, they are giving an ETA at present of Dec 17 for the Su 24, so anything after that probably won't be seen till this time next year at the absolute earliest?

Maybe they are just sounding out interest before finalising their next 'announced' intended mould?

i'm not at all a particular fan of the su27, but i can't help but think that while a decent ef hasn't been done in diecast yet, neither has a decent su27... and there's a far bigger market i think for a truly decent su27. even a pretty decent su27 would probably obsolete all previous incarnations (gaincorp/AF1 and witty/witty-follow-on).

That also said, there's an even bigger obvious prize out there ... F-35. again, not an aircraft that i particularly care for, but all the current releases (HM and AF1) are seriously flawed in one way or another.

i wouldnt read too much into the macross stuff. those each look like a couple of late evenings work by an enthusiast employee who had access to some spare decal sheets and a few manufacturing f-14 blanks. and even if they do release a couple - so what? it's not like they can make a whole side line of anime themed stuff.

i mean, CW never did the obvious thing for the japanese market:

Thanks. Sounds like they are considering it maybe? As far as the SU-24, somebody please wake me up when the first pics of the production units are available. Thanks in advance.

I agree the Su 27 & F35 seem like obvious choices, but I get the feeling Cal Wings want to produce what they themselves find appealing, so maybe they don't fancy the Su 27 or F35? Certainly they've given no indication on their Facebook page they are interested in doing them.

I'm kinda surprised they haven't (yet) suggested they were going to do the F4 as both AC & HM could be improved upon. The F4 is equally as 'iconic' as the F14 and has multiple operators.

Or maybe their plan is to build up a truly global appeal by varying the source material, US/Russia/Europe in the first few releases? It's far too early I suspect to work out what, if any, particular plan Cal Wings has.

well their tomcat was supposed to be release in the fall of 2016 so we'll see...
