Default TSM new top gun models

Hi guys just got my hands on the new TSM top gun models and wanted to give a warning that they were not worth the wait and are complete s**t. If already mentioned apologies but giving a heads up as some companies still have for pre order.

Thanks Daniel

monsieur soldierboy89, could you be more specific? tsm uses the witty mould and the top gun cats were pretty bland to begin with. so what is it that we should be looking out for from the pics?

There is an option to possibly keep and display these planes.....and that is to use the Decal Option! You can find online 1/72 F-14 Top Gun specific decal sheets....for possibly supplementing markings to these models....

Something to think about especially if your a Top Gun movie fan.

You might have saved your hard earned dollars if you would have heeded the advice of some of the postings here....

Again....unless your a Fan of the movie and actors...and you just have to have these models...so then having these models could be a good thing...and better than nothing.

Morning everyone,
Got my money back so no issues there.
The problems were,
-antennas on top snapped off
-box was all fallen apart
-no stand and landing gears dont fit properly and fall off
-no real detail on the plane, markings
-wings are so loose the swing way to easily just carrying it
-price range in Australia was crazy for them
-the mould itself had no detail put into it
-armaments fall off.

Just a poor effort all round. Thanks Daniel.

I am hopeful the Carrier Deck dioramas they are supposed to be producing are better than the models themselves. I have 1:200 aircraft just waiting for a home. Has anyone heard of when the deck dioramas will be showing up?

Well the Flying Mule state June 2017, and Jumblies in the UK also suggest end of June. I've always been more interested in these, and the deck crew than the actual TSM planes. Albeit in 1/72.

So many problems - isn´t it sabotage?
I suspect Messrs. Wilson and Rosener of Rockman Aviation damaged models in TSM factory. Take a look - even U.S.S. Essess lettering is missing on the model, not mentioning absent rear view mirror:

Def sabotage,
The other lines from tsm were cancelled by my suplloer after seeing these so unfortunately cant give feedback on them.
Bit of trivia the tsm models actually came in to australia through the herpa we received. And selling RRP price here was $198. Wouldnt pay $50. They make me miss witty wings so much more.

Hey hey if you want to know the scary part cost was A $150, plus our taxes and freight the poor boss at the shop had it priced higher but had to mark down to the $200 mark as i pointed out all the issues. He ordered 3 of each so hes spewing.

First thing they need to do is at least buy new glue at the fsctory for the box.

If I am not mistaken, this TSM is the same manufacturer of resin-based scale model cars. They are good when it comes to motor vehicles and yes, the price they ask for is quite unreasonable specially knowing they are sealed bodies and no engines. They always seem to be overpriced against the competition with reasons including very limited edition and exclusive model types...

Now, they ventured into the die-cast metal aircraft market and I am not too surprised they asked for a 120 to 150 USD range for this model... At which point, they should at least come with a digitally remastered copy of the movie in a Blue-Ray disc.

Ticketed price was A $250 which is what most hobby master and century wings can go up to depending on release.

They definitely tried to tickle some fancies using the movie mania Top Gun had decades ago. Imagine if they managed to sub-contract HM or even CW for this particular model instead of that one they used... I am quite startled at this, because in the model car market, TSM has a good reputation with detail and accuracy (except that they do resin with sealed bodies and no engines) on their belts.

aud250??? that's probably because tsm had to pay jcw for the production/licensing and herpa for the marketing/distribution. it's definitely only for hardcore top gun fans, not diecast collectors. i love my tomcats... and the top gun movie does have a feel good element, but this is a definite no no, especially not at aud200!!!

just curious, monsieur soldierboy... you had this on pre-order? as in didn't you get to inspect it before plonking down your hard earned moolahs?

I bought both the scales. to be sincer the smallers are perfect (imho), on the contrary, the "72s" presented some problems while I was trying to assemble them: landing gears don't fit properly and fall off and the same for the armaments.
I bring them to the owner of a model shop asking him to fix and assemble them, fortunately no problem to the wings' mechanism or else...
My question is always the same: which is the meaning or better are the parameters of QC, for them?

well perhaps those are the only aircraft tsm models will ever make. at aud200 a piece, it sure is going the same way the dodo did...

Good morning tomcatter,
When i pre ordered i thought they would be a great model. From first look in store they seemed ok as box came wrapped in plastic. Was only when taken home and finer inspection that i was disappointed. Will have to get century or HM to do a top gun then i will be excited. A shame that no luck with this company. Still got calibre wings to look forward to and at least the cheaper jc wings are looking good for there price at A $140 each.

personally, the top gun livery wasn't inspiring. it would've taken a true blue top gun fan to want one, so i guess that's where you come in. but you were probably right in getting that tsm model anyway as i honestly don't think either century, hm or calibre will be doing that scheme. ever. you would be much better off doing a code 3 or getting one done for you. not sure if the decals are available though. well, at least you got your full refund so tha could be used as your code 3 fund, perhaps? and a g'day to ya, mate!
