Nice little dio that.

Corgi's Sea King is one of the best helicopter moulds out there I think - I have Chink 69 and it's a great little model..

This has to be one of the best pre assembled dios of all time and as a USN collector, I'm kicking myself I didn't get one of these or the Chink 69.

Absolutely agree, remember when I assembled the dio just couldn't take the eyes off of it, pretty model for good!

Ditto the above. Mine is packed away but may have to pull it out and look it over again.
Haven't been looking lately, but they did cost a pretty penny on eBay a while back.

It is up there as Corgi's best dio,...although the Sullum Voe Catalina is a beauty too.

I really would like to see Corgi have another crack at a dio. A H34 or another SH-3 with a Mercury or Gemini Capsule would be very sweet indeed.

Best photos I have seen yet. I just got one of these a few weeks ago. I sold my original 5 years ago and regretted it. Had to have it again. Got it for a reasonable price of $190.00.

Looks to be an expensive possible custom contract model...perhaps made of wood.....

In any event....if you want to go cheap.....try this..... Thunder Toyz | Toy Shop | Aviation Toys | Gift Shopping .... and create your own desktop version or diorama.....it says the Helo is metal ... Don't know what scale...perhaps some code 3 detailing of your own

I received the above linked toy set....sure enough the Helo IS Diecast!

Nothing on the packaging mentions a scale....here's where I could use some assistance...if someone has 1/72 scale Sikorsky Sea King .. can you provide a measurement, in inches, from the tip of the nose to the farthest end of the tail (not including the tail rotor blades)....and provide those in a reply or PM.

Matched up to 1/72 F-4 for size comparison.... I want to say that the helo is damn near close to 1/72....but true measurements of a 1/72 would help to verify.

Much appreciated and thanks in advance

Unfortunately the toy Helo I received, although diecast metal, is not 1/72 in scale according to the dimensions of a true 1/72 Sea King model...

"1:72 Scale Diecast metal and plastic parts – Sea King (Sikorsky SH-3) - Lenght: 9.5" (fuselage) Rotor span: 11” In diameter."

The fuselage I have is 8.75" in length oh well, still nifty to have.

Hey ptraney. I have a quite a large space theme going and I would love that Apollo program crest and mission badges that you have on the war behind the cabinet. Did you make it yourself or can it be purchased? I have a bit of wall space where that will fit in nicely.

I'm a little bit of a space nut myself and although Dr. Wernher Von Braun was a nazi scientist...he's still a rocketry guru to me.

I have been contemplating doing a "Von Braun Rocket Collection" theme based on the documentary series Mars in which I managed to screen photo him in his office .... I thought how cool would it be to have these rocket models, not necessarily in those scales, but of that particular rocket lineup he had in his very own office

Perhaps some day ....

Between Executive Series, Dragon and Bandai you can actually get many of those in 1:144 and even 1:72.

Executive Series sell mahogany (and I think resin) models. They are pretty cool and the only timber models I own. They make a very nice Mercury/Redstone/Atlas and Gemini models in 1:72.

Dragon produced 1:72 and 1:400 Rockets and of course you have Bandai's incredible 1:144 Saturn Rocket and Space Shuttle.

That's going to take some dusting effort or a hell of a display case

WOW,...I did not expect that. It would look beautiful in the cabinet,....but the price is certainly a deterrent.

I guess Ill stick with me Corgi effort, which all said and done is pretty damn good.

But I do look on with envious eyes at 1:40 piece. Any idea what it is made of,...resin??

While we are on space themes, I am actively looking for a good model of Voyager 1. I have a hankering for a model of the first man-made object to leave our Solar System.

You didn't specify model material or scale....google images shows a few.

Here is a museum quality. http://www.hightechscience.org/voyag...raft_model.htm

Try these two others....one you build and one is already built...

1/24 Voyager ? RealSpace Models

Voyager 1-2 NASA Twin Satellite Spacecraft Desk Wood Model Small - Scalemodelcompany

There's also a Hawagasa plastic model..

Preferably Diecast or resin. Thanks for the links.

Interestingly enough,...I had a bit of a search in various places for a SEA KING/Gemini/or other Apollo recovery and/or H34/Mercury recovery. I guess at the end of the day,...if anyone can find a diorama of any of these recoveries,...that would be sweet indeed. Plastic, resin or diecast.

I have two,...Apollo 11 recovery in 1:72 and Apollo 12 recovery in 1:144.

Love to see Corgi give its H34 tooling a run as a recovery bird, with its capsule.

Here print this out (double sided for saving a tree) and 3 ring bind it.......place near Apollo recovery dioramas as a nostalgic accompaniment...
