He certainly put on a grand display.

Never got the patch though.

Awesome model, so glad I finally got one

One of the few Pooch 1:72 EE Lightnings I don't have.

Not to worry,....a Pooch 1:48 Lightning with that exact scheme will be released in the coming months.

The gift that keeps on giving

While dusting my cab topper models, I was handling the J-20 and came across this little surprise that I don’t think has been done in zinc before.

This isn’t just fancy panelling but a button to open the missile bay doors and lower the missile rack.

Calibre Wings gimmick department eat your heart out

Hi GG, that Mi-8 is made by Easy Model, they make quiet a lot of plastic planes, helicopters and AFVs.

Postage stamp Collection 1/87 scale PS5601 UH-1C Huey Gunship, 1st Calvary Division

Surprisingly detailed for such a small model. Also weights 3x more then a Hobby Master Huey

Easy Models make good fillers

I have that PLAAF Mi-171, it’s pretty nice. JCW are coming out with a Soviet release soon.

Very nice. Can't wait to get my hands on this.

Unfortunately, the local distributor only received half the shipment form HM. The other half containing this model have not arrived.

KB Wings KBW72102, HSS-2A Sea King, Japanese Maritime Shelf Defence Force

This model shows that once again, depending on the target market, extra details can be added.

Accentually an IXO model, it has improved quality, markings and finally a box you don’t just want to chuck away.

Only downside are the screw holes at the bottom but short of selling a kidney to buy the Corgi Apollo release, this is very nice.

Since the move to Bangladesh, there appears to be some logistical issues. I noticed HK eBay sellers had these in stock before Lacorun.

This release is so good, I’m even thinking of getting one more.

Altaya USAF H-19A Chickasaw

Decent cheapo helicopter. I would however gladly pay x3 more to get a more refined, detailed and better QC model.

The J-10 is a pretty cool looking plane, if HM could invest in a Su-34, F-111 and T-38, why not a J-10, Asian market sales alone would pay it off.

A year in review

Cab 1

Largely unchanged, only addition was the JMSDF Sea King, nice enough model, would have preferred the Apollo release from Corgi but wasn't eager enough to fork out for a 2nd mortgage to get one

I am still waiting for a decent Bf-109 and a nicer white Zero with more details to fill a few gaps in the 1/48 fleet.

Additions:

KB Wings KBW72102 JMSDF HSS-2A (Sea King)

Cab 2

The theme that has had the most expansion this year is the Soviet/Eastern Block cab. Only one model from 2018 release period though, a sign of the times I guess, I would have liked a nice light blue Flanker but it wasn't to be. The rest speak for themselves, gap fillers or later ordered 2017 releases. The PLAAF Su-35 is nice but the colours are questionable. And while the Hobby Master MiG-25 gets flak, I was still pleased to have one, especially when it's the exact Soviet scheme I was after, bring on an Ukrainian Foxbat next I say, when the Russian's ran away, they left a lot of these after all

Have to say while the scheme is nice on the J-5, the difference in green on metal and plastic isn't and it's what has held me back from getting anymore of these.

The Corgi MiG-21 was cheap as chips and the Terrbo J-7, well not much choice really.

Note the lack of Su-24, maybe in January.... 2035

Additions:

Corgi PR99404 North Vietnamese MiG-21 Fishbed
Hobby Master HM5901 North Vietnamese J-5 Fresco
Terebo PLAAF J-7 Fishcan
Hobby Master HM5703 PLAAF Su-35 Flanker
Hobby Master HM5604 Soviet MiG-25 Foxbat
Hobby Master HM6102 Ukrainian Su-25 Frogfoot

Cab 3

Probably one of the biggest disappointments in 2018 was the lack of WWII models on offer in 1:72, means to say basically nothing. Without Skymax making anything and Corgi slow as a wet wick (not to mention stickers and very odd scheme selections recently) there really was nothing to get excited over. Only addition was a very old and very well made Dragon Armour STuG IV made back in 2006 !!! boy were we spoilt back then

Additions:

Dragon Armour 60115 zGermans STuG IV

Cab 4

Pretty uneventful here as well, no spooks worth getting, still no Super Bug that I'd want and lack of anything from Century Wings meant no additions to the USN theme. Instead bored, I decided to hunt down a few aircraft I liked but didn't have much need for, well aside from the P-38. Lightning is a great model and adds to the Singapore theme, the hunter I wish Corgi did an Arab scheme so instead I got this. H-19 is average and the Huey pretty nice for a smaller scale. Hoping Century Wings do some more Intruders before they retire.

Additions:

Corgi AA32713 RAF Hunter
Corgi AA32312 RAF Lightning
Corgi AA36601 USAF P-38 Lightning
Postage Stamp Models US Army PS5601 UH-1 Huey
Altaya USAF H-19 Chickasaw

Cab 5

And when there was REALLY nothing to look forward to, one turns to airliners The An-225 is great even for its small size, I should have gotten the 1/200 version when it was out. The 737 was just to complete the set really. At least they revised the stand instead of using those daggy and outdated wooden stands.

Additions:

Herpa 562287 Ukrainian An-225 Mriya
JC Wings XX2190 Air China Boeing 737-8MAX

Actually I have but I have also reorganised them so many times that these are like I never have plus my original image host decided to pull the plug

Ah well there will find it hard to get to my wallet these days, not when the can't get most models right..... or release the ones they say they made

Thanks guys. I only wish IKEA came out with those white cabs sooner, it would of looked a lot nicer.

TC, I've said it before, despite the suspect yellow edges, it's still the best Viking scheme and now that HM seem to have abandoned the mould, even more glad I got it, the others they came out with I had little interest in, especially the low viz schemes.

Would you believe those tanks were arranged like that first go ? I guess one has to have little OCD to appreciate this hobby

Anything you guys want a closer look at, I'm happy to take more detailed photos of.

Technically I guess there was. The MiG 21-1 ‘Analog’ was involved with the original Tu144 wing development programme.

.... My statement was for a bit of humor "single delta wing" meaning just half of a double delta wing... which I then posted a Photoshop'd Fishbed graphic with having a single delta wing out of the normal double delta wing.

I suspect the Mig-21I was, technically, constructed with 2 single (halves) delta wings attached to the fuselage . .making 1 larger, overall delta wing configuration ...it's a play on words

Here's a cool vid on the Mig-21I Analog....

Whats more interesting the technological changes in the designs. swept Wing, delta wing, variable geometry wing, the swept/cropped delta and finally the canards.

Single engine, twin engine, turbo-jet to turbo-fan.

But overall its the sleek aerodynamic trend the Russians and been trending towards. Today, its aerodynamic design for manoeuvrability and thrust to weight ratio vs stealth/integrated fusion designs of the US.

It is an interesting and revealing photo though.
