The Raiden is a great looking plane, I quite agree.

Marushin 1/48 D3A1 Val, nice model, a pleasure to put together

I had bought a J2M Raiden as well but it was a nightmare and the less said (yes you TC ) the better

JC Wings Ukrainian Su-27 Flanker, a decent model, quality of the paint (not the colour although also not great) seems low grade.

Group shot of the Ukrainian Air Force so far, man do they take up a lot of real estate, normally get 7-8 models on display in the same space.

Hobby Master HA5702 Su-35S Flanker E, Red 06, Russian Air Force, Latakia, Syria 2016

Great model, really like it and look forward to more Flankers from HM.

Not as heavy as Witty but that's no issue, wish the stand arm was little higher so it can clear grounded models. Has anyone tried putting this on a Witty stand (if at all possible)

Oh interchangeable nozzles fit on very well, too well that it feels like you have to break them off to change them

No overspray, colours could be lighter not darker and yes, stand should be higher.

Good man, great model isn't it.

Model of the Year 2017, with all the Foxbats and Nighthawks as runners up.

I'm interested in getting the PLAAF and Red 07 from the Paris Air Show 2013 now, not that I'm too keen on the later but looks great in dark grey.

Eagerly awaiting the first HM Su-27 as well. Gonna need to start stocking up on Witty stands I reckon

i'd say best NEW mould/model of the year. then again it's probably because the flanker looks awesome to begin with. i still think jcw did a good job with the digital fulcrum (minus points for them leaving out the bay door struts!). their digital camo flanker would've been in contention too but i'd have to agree with your observation that the colours are too bright. but they're essentially witty moulds so they're out of contention. the nighthawk kinda have itself to blame as it's a nice mould but well, letdown by its all-black scheme. the foxbat? nicely done... but again, it's angular lines aren't as graceful as the flankers.

Exactly, the Flanker just looks bad@$$. Also best new mould from HM along with the Nighthawk and Foxbat.

The later to shouldn't lose marks because of schemes, although that does help the Flanker alittle. Maybe because there isn't any competition with those 2 moulds that it would be like winning by default but with the Flanker there is the JC Wings version albeit not exactly same variant. The JC version is not bad it's just that it's a direct Witty copy, I think in the what 2-3 yrs since Witty passed, collectors have demanded more and while HM screw up ocassionally, JC have screwed up from the start in a big way.

Like I want to get a PLANAF J-11 but I think I'll wait for HM to do one rather then get the JC version.

i suppose jcw paid quite a fair bit for the moulds and are just trying to recover their investment instead of having to pour in more for correction.

i still find the back story intriguing as to whether it was indeed gj who spilled the beans on ww or not seeing as to how inseparable gj is with jcw. probably just a matter of time before gj revives their military line especially since herpa seems to be pricing themselves out of the competition.

They probably did but they ain't no venture capital company like Cailbre Wings either, it would be ridiculous to not improve a mould when you have the means and money to do so after years of selling airliners, they've just hurt their reputation with no modifications and suspect colours and patterns.

I reckon it's obvious their was some bullying going on, not like Witty stuff was hard to sell if they picked the right subject. Witty Flankers were the best and JCW will never live up to that so we are stuck with what HM will make, so far good mould but borderline JCW retardedness with colours.

business call, they probably tried the easy way out and see whether they could push some of the unmoded models out. and to a certain extent, i think they have. herpa on the other hand... totally wrong call. mebbe in the future they may see a need for improvements but for now, i doubt they will.

it's kinda strange though seeing how jcw pays so much emphasis on the correct colours and shape of their civvies. but to be fair, jcw has tackled some really good schemes...

To be perfectly honest, the only good thing that has come from JC Wings military line is making more Witty stands

I'm sure HM will tackle the nicer Flanker schemes as well.

Btw, has HM done a digital scheme yet ? I don't believe so.

Not I Sir, not I

Contrary to muppet beliefs, I want HM to succeed, I haven't quiet run out of $ or space so I want them to keep churning out quality models.

But it's disappointing to see all those camo Floggers not done right there only costing themselves $

I'm afraid so mate. I've always wanted to start a Cold War period RAF theme but I missed my chance all those years ago, now it's too costly to track down.

There's a few I do want to track down for other themes but not in any rush.

Nice little model, fancy box art, silver camo application (well green camo but HM applied silver over a base green model) is tighter then in the pre pros. There is no longer an open air brake option as shown in prototype photos.

Witty Zero, one of their last Zero's I believe. Series 2 model, well kinda, wheels are not fixed but there are no closed door parts and the smaller gear doors that hug the centreline tank are fixed. Nice model all the same.
