Tennoheika Banzai !!!!!

Aoshima 1/48 A6M5 Zero. Possibly THE best mass produced aircraft model ever created

Deagostini 1/72 Ki-45 "Nick". Nicely packaged for the Japanese market and quality looks great for a cheapo IXO rebrand, although I think these got better attention then the regular IXO line. Model is also pretty darn heavy, makes most HM models feel like feathers. Gear options and stand included.

I have 6 more incoming and about 3-4 more on my list.

The FoV version was crap but that was to be expected,

As for no one else doing them you know that's not true.

awesome collection, monsieur uf. despite my dig at your ijaaf/ijnaf theme, i must say it's turning out to be quite something. wish i mixed scales but still stubbornly sticking to 48s for now. hope to see more japanese ww2 airframes in 48s in the future... preferably by aoshima/skynet.

Thanks mate. That's what I'd hope for also, to see an Oscar, Raiden, Frank, Tony, Val and Betty from Aoshima.

I might consider a Betty but the old 1:48 fighters had some really basic details, not worth the 2nd hand market price tags.

Agreed but in IKEAs infinite wisdom, they only offered brown till this year and then they realised ppl might want more options

lol... that's their business strategy really. you think you'd be able to add on additional cabinets in the future without much problem... but then the colour from years ago has been discontinued, or they reduced the size of the shelve plugs, or you not longer have the same door options, or they've moved the location of the shelve levels, or...

My spending isnt really a good indication of this hobbies health but of a healthy bank balance

Manus are slowly pricing themselves out of the game and poor quality will be the final nail, give it another year or two.

no, but it's also an indication that collectors are willing to spend more (and expand their themes) to stay in the hobby. price increases are inevitable... but incrementally. hobbymaster has kinda up the ante by coming out with new moulds and justifying the exponential increase thus. yes, i'd still get their new releases but won't be able to justify getting all the airframes, although the nighthawk may be one that i'll follow religiously. and that's not discounting the fact that another manufacturer peddling their wares cheaper may come into contention in the future.

That's how it starts, prices are up, quality down, accuracy verboten.

I was going to follow the Flogger religiously but screw up after screw up has left me with just 1 so far.

And as for the Su-35, right off the bat it's ridiculously flawed in terms of marking accuracy.

Again, another model I would of liked more of but not for say $200 a pop when there's a clear lack of care for accuracy. Just churn and burn inferior quality duplicates each month, that's the name of the game now.

More like quality and accuracy demander

Oh but I am and they aren't the only manu, there's an unknown Chinese manu that does one as well that looks pretty good.

I'd rather Deagostini with optional gears and slightly better QC then say Amercoms with fixed gears and often cringe worthy QC

I was putting away the boxes from last weeks mammoth unboxing / re-org and came across this buried in my storage space.

Hadn't seen these for awhile. Surprisingly looking at their details for a mass produced, available at Target, made in 2002 model, they still hold up not too bad.

I didn't have room for the rest to be put on display in their allotted themes but I did take out a 7th Matchbox model that looks right at home on display.

And yes there are rivets

keeping my fingers crossed that the japanese collectors persuade hobbymaster to get these moulds out in 48. you already know how much influence they wield just by looking at the jasdf spooks. better yet if they get aoshima to do them!

Yeah Aoshima would be my pick, I'd like an Oscar, Frank and Jack, maybe a Tony in 1:48 (don't want the marushin versions)
