The Foxbat is a beast of a aircraft, so unless HM use plastic for the main body (highly doubt it) that should mean it'll be very heavy.
i did weigh the tomcats before. don't remember the exact figure but probably around 1.2-1.3kg max. i'm thinking at most the foxbat would be 1.8-2kg? at 2.5, they're probably the costliest weights in my gym...

This is going to be quite the chunk of zinc!
I wonder if it will replace the CW SR-71 as the zombie chopper of choice among the DAC community?
In any case it is certainly going to be very impressive. I can't wait to see one in the metal; very happy the silliness with former members and Hobbymaster Collector has been sorted out so we can have the pre-prods shared on here as soon as they are available

I originally had the J-8 Finback as my zombie slayer, this might take its spot with sher heavy brute force

Brace your(cabs), the Foxbat is coming
Yeah, IDK if I would be placing this one right in the middle of one of my long glass shelves (even if they weren't in my VN cabs and so not in the running to house one of these anyway..)
Re: Hobby Master HA5601 MiG-25P Foxbat, Lt. V. Belenko, Japan 1976
Some production photos (unpainted/unprinted) of the MiG-25P just went up on the Hobby Master web site. Shipping date has been advanced from May to April.

It does look nice ! It seems that the mould design allows different versions, I hope HM is planning some of them.
However I also noticed that the pictures of the unpainted model are showing a fairing under the radar radome, which is correct for a MiG-25PD but not for the P version (the fairing was for the IR search and track system implemented on the improved version of the MiG-25 studied after Belenko's defection). I hope it's only a mismatch that will be corrected on the final release.

it does look like it's part of the nose assembly and perhaps they'll use a different nose cone assembly for the mig-25p?

monsieur uf... guess jumblies was wrong with the 2.5kg assumption? but william said 460g? for this beast? makes me wonder whether this model's a plastic model or hollow diecast
Re: Hobby Master HA5601 MiG-25P Foxbat, Lt. V. Belenko, Japan 1976
Whats probably plastic and whats probably metal you can guess from the photos on Hawkone's website. For me it looks like only the air intakes, exhaust nozzles, nose cone (and gear doors, ordnance, antennas etc...) are plastic parts. Rest of the fuselage seems to me from metal. Final weight of course depends on inner construction too.

Jumblies are obviously quoting shipping weight (model & box, shipping box and packaging), disappointing and inaccurate this isn't heavier then a Tomcat, which is 200kg lighter empty weight

Is the air rather thin up there on that high horse ? This man was a pilot and an officer, not a conscript grunt, let's get this straight, about the only tyranny he would of suffered was maybe less beetroot in his borscht
That said, I will still get this release despite the gutless traitor for $$$ the pilot was as I don't want to wait 3 yrs for a proper soviet release.

I'd think a guy like you (with a Ukrainian handle) would have figured this one out a long time ago. Compare the actions of the Soviet Union in 1976 to those of Russia in 2017. The similarities between those two corrupt, repressive and aggressive governments are striking, are they not?
Belenko rebelled against Soviet tyranny, something he knew about first hand and came to despise. He was indeed a highly privileged pilot under the Soviet system, but despite all of his privileges he still couldn't stomach the idea of continuing to serve such a monstrous government.
There's a lesson there that applies today, every bit as much as it did in 1976. We've had this discussion before and you're entitled to your opinion, even though I and most of the Free World holds the opposite view.
Enjoy the model.

It may well be hollow Diecast .... I base that on the answer from F-14's reply in which he says that the square/rectangle pieces in the pics below are indeed weights from the inside of the HM F-4 he is Code 3ing.
That then begs the questions for me...myself, never having to open a Diecast model, ....whether all my planes are hollow with weights. Are there any 1/72 models that is solid metal, not counting the obvious plastic parts ? Just thought I put that out there. I'm not willing to start taking apart planes just to answer that question. But if they are hollow, are we getting ripped off if we assume they are solid when they may not be?
Re: Hobby Master HA5601 MiG-25P Foxbat, Lt. V. Belenko, Japan 1976
Most of the Chinese domestic market brands like Terebo, AVIC and AF1 are much more heavier, that market assumes something heavy to be of high quality but it could be gappy AF
We are assuming manu scale the weight as well, I'm guessing they don't and use whatever amounts of metal and plastic in order to make a balanced or cost effective model. Though I didn't mind the plastic Flogger wings, the weight was slightly disappointing. If this DOESN'T end up being the heaviest HM model, I'd feel abit disappointed and cheated. It has to be one of the biggest 1/72 models on the market that's not a heavy bomber.

Of similar size model,
Terebo Su-34 and an Non AF1/Terebo Su-35 both weigh in at 548g.
So HM-25P is really underweight.

lol... you're right. if you wanted value for money weight-wise, go for terebo, avic or af1. even av72 and fm loose out spectacularly.

If you guys want heavy heavy planes buy polystone planes but they only make them in 1/30 .
All diecast planes are hollow. The parts are metals and put together just like plastic planes ( but less parts hence less detail).

we'd have to start a polystone aircraft forum then
