Of course I am sure you probably know all that already, but for any other Sandgropers and just in case you weren't aware I thought I'd share it
I've already dropped what seems like a few thousand with him over the past 2 or 3 years, meeting him, his parents, his sister and his brother-in-law along the way.

He's a friendly guy with lots of stock and has the best prices in Australia as far as I'm concerned too.

Ha ha, yep - I am in exactly the same boat! I recently had a look at a sheaf of invoices from him going back a couple of years and the total was clearly going to be so horrifying I didn't actually calculate it, but just put them all back in their envelope

Graeme not only offers better prices than any other Aussie retailer I am aware of (especially for us Perthies who pay no P&P), but he is also a genuinely good bloke who also offers better customer service than I have found from almost anywhere else.

I reckon we're pretty lucky to have him!

If it wasn't for the Foxbat, no one would GAF who he was and he'd just be like anyone else wanting to live a better life, if it had been any other aircraft he flew in that NATO already knew about, then I'd agree he wasn't a traitor but still no hero either

Besides we all know it's not like pilots just get up in the morning and say to themselves "I feel like flying my super secret and much feared aircraft over to the enemy today" no their defo wasn't any CIA or however involvement there, not at all lol

Ok let's agree to disagree and enjoy the model regardless of it's history

Yes, that's exactly what I'm suggesting. There are many ways to resist tyranny. If a Luftwaffe pilot had flown his Me-262 to England in 1944, the Nazis would certainly have denounced him as a traitor, just as the Soviets denounced Belenko in 1976.

As students of intelligence matters know, offers of financial rewards are usually of little or no use in cases where individuals are motivated to defect for ideological reasons. (They can, in fact, produce exactly the opposite of the desired effect.)

Ignoring fabricated Soviet/Russian accounts, every credible account of the Belenko affair agrees that his defection was self-motivated after years of disillusionment with the pervasive corruption and brutality of the Soviet government and military. If you have any credible evidence that he was recruited in advance by the CIA and that he did what he did for money, let's have it. (By the way, how was it possible for the CIA to make contact with and recruit a Soviet fighter pilot based in a closed military district in the Far East, when the nearest CIA station was thousands of miles away in Moscow?)

It's worth noting that Belenko was not the only Soviet bloc (or Soviet-aligned) fighter pilot to fly the coop during the Cold War. Others came to the same conclusions Belenko reached. He realized that he was working for the wrong side and decided to risk everything on one throw of the dice - while simultaneously striking a devastating blow against a system he had come to despise.

This will be my last comment on Belenko. Enjoy the model and good day.

Good day to you all me hearties, aarrrr.

It seems that my Altaya Foxhound be scuppered. I hope they launch the Foxbat B, I'd be quite taken by a Det 63 'R' ship.

Unfortunately not. Would have been one hell of an experience. Friends of mine have seen them operating out of the former DDR after the fall of the Berlin wall, but I was stuck with school exams when they traveled at that time.

I bet it was a pretty full on sight and - especially - sound with those massive burners going full bore for take off.

Shame that these jets are only flying in such limited numbers nowadays.

This is exactly why I am doing my PPL, about halfway in now, then a twin rating.

Being back seat in a Mig 29 is much easier, but the Mig 25 can go a fair bit higher. It's probably the closest us mere mortals will get to space for maybe 30 years until Xcor and Virign Galactic can bring costs down.

I'd really like the two-seater from that vid too, so once they've done some single-seaters I'll ask William if it's possible.

That's not the only Foxbat in those colors.

That's a nice one, even shows the belly tank. Not a common find in pics.

And the next pics are rather large and I don't feel like resizing.

This first version, if it turns out well, will be perfect for me. As long as the shape is nice and they grey turns out alright like the first Mig-23. Other than that I'd like to see a reconnaissance version or one with bombs (Mig-25RBK?)

So far all those camo images I posted are the Recon MiG-25R models. HM is giving us the fighter/interceptor model, looks like there would be some changes necessary in the nose area to make a recon model so I'm guessing these schemes would have to come at a later time.

Unless somebody comes across a fighter version in camo.

That is the bomb, right there. If HM consider it, I hope they a heap more pictures of that scheme.

With the introduction of HM's Mig 25 and Calibre Wings SU 24, here's hoping 2017 is going to be a good year for Soviet metal!

It's looking like the best year for Soviet Metal since 'Sabbath' played Olympijskiy Stadium, Moscow in 1989!

Hmmm.....maybe that's what brought the Soviet Empire down?!

Sounds like you'd qualify as a modern pop artist - all you need is autotune!

But seriously you'd be fine - every metal band has someone that doesn't know how to play anything: the drummer

Unfortunately after seeing Arejay Hale showing off a few times for Halestorm I don't even think being the drummer is an option anymore!

Ahh well, it works with bassist too - use as appropriate

Seriously: I bet the life expectation of a lot of metal bands is mostly dictated by the drummer; take Metallica, for example - I bet James, Kirk and Trujillo will be able to continue playing into old age, but it won't be so easy for Lars.

Anyway apologies for taking this thread off topic! Really looking forward to this Foxbat; message to HM: please don't mess it up!

I am not quite sure what that means?? I thought that promotion of all Diecasts sites, by all said sites is the best thing for the Hobby? Considering Dave freely advertises this site,....I am not quite what the intent is?? Or what it is supposed to achieve?

Particularly when a retailer can come on here and post about his/her retail outfit. Which I don't have a problem by the way.

G'day,

The problem lies with the fact that permission was sort from Hawksone by Dan (ACpilot) who is a member of this site, however DA.C has no record of any permission and as such I as moderator have asked for clarification of the permission from Dave, the owner of Hawksone and Philip. Until a reply is received, the Forum rules state what is quoted above.

Just trying to keep everything above board. Just because you're a member of DA.C doesn't give you permission to go out and make deals and agreements with other sites. These agreements need to be done correctly to avoid problems and/or legal concerns that may arise.

When correct answers are received, then things should go back to the way they were. Hang tight people.

Fair enough,...although perhaps overcomplicating things a tad as Dave makes it quite clear on his site that the contents can be utilised for promotion of HM and the Hobby.

But, "to be sure, to be sure" is not a bad thing.

It must have been huge news, the Foxbat was such a bogeyman in the West.

Definitely considering adding one, it will be another impressive piece along the lines of the CW SR-71 even (appropriately enough as that, and of course the magnificent Valkyrie) were the threats the Foxbat was conceived to defeat

first and foremost, if you guys wanna jump to a different forum, nobody is putting a gun to your head to stay. and don't make dac a recruiting ground for members to post in other forums. not cool. if they want, they will. making people check out other forum/sites just to generate traffic really takes the cake. it's kinda like me creating a blog and posting links to my blog for the sheer satisfaction of seeing my visitor counter go up... and up... and up (okay okay... granted, that's not a good comparison. but you get the gist). nobody has ever said how does traffic affect the good work that dave puts in since all the while everybody seems to say that he does it altruistically. i'm not sure where lou is going about the permission aspect, but personally i have observed attempts to increase traffic to dave's site (whilst reference photos were included in the past, none appears of late. you'd have to visit the site to know what the heck people were talking about). i agree... dave provides a very useful resource to us collectors, and have visited his site on numerous occasions. we need visuals, yes... not just links. doesn't make sense to be clicking back and forth just to figure out what others are talking about. i am sure lou is waiting for some answers... as i myself am curious too. but not just the permission issue...

As for the other bit I have bolded. Whats wrong with that? This will be interesting...........
it's not. and you can very well post links/make references to dac/dac posts in other forums. i'm cool. and it's interesting that someone would stay in a pub and keep yelling that the beer over the opposite pub tastes better, and casts aspersions that anyone who refuses to walk over don't know their beers. so yeah, i'm glad this forum isn't run by stasis...

People have tried to in the past and you've either made it verboten, double posted threads or bullied members who have posted the news.

Any number of collectors on here would be glad to post new releases AND not just for one manu either. In fact a few do already for manus that you neglect to post on.

Don't post any photos then, just don't go double posting either in threads with photos already in them for the purposes of traffic.

Whatever you do on the side is your business but don't go ruining this forum because of it.

I think your analogy is out there.

For the rest of us, who are motivated to click 4-5 times with our forefinger on the mouse, we will continue to broaden our minds and learn new stuff every day.

Each to their own.

Many punk bands could play though- or at least got good with time. Look at the Clash, the Damned & the Buzzcocks for example. Even the Pistols were better than what they were given credit for.

So basically nobody should post any photos or information about anything. Ever. Got it.

C'mon man. All photos and information come from other sources. This is a forum where we discuss these things. Dave is not a retailer and if Hobby Master hasn't shut him down, there's no chance they're going to come after D.A.C. This has got to be a joke. Or a witch hunt.

The Foxbat apparently is going to be very heavy at 2.5kg, the Flogger is 1kg and even more then the Tomcat at 1.5kg.

That's according to Jumblies, sounds about right for the Flogger, Tomcat seems underestimated so if it's at least as heavy as the Tomcat, that should mean a decent amount of zinc.

The Foxbat is a beast of a aircraft, so unless HM use plastic for the main body (highly doubt it) that should mean it'll be very heavy.
