I suppose that all of these very expensive, recently tooled models are making Hobby Master a nice bit of cash for R&D then?

I'll be looking to pick up a MiG 25 in due course. Not 100% sure it will be this one, but I won't rule it out!

Great news HM are finally do soviet aircraft but will pass on this one. I don't think it's a wise move that the first Foxbat they make was flown by a traitor

Yeah, the site reports Red 13, but I believe it will be Red 31. Some cool history for those who are into it.

Bit of time travel, do remember seeing the old Hasegawa kit at my local hobby store back in the day when there was such a thing as a local hobby store

Superb!
Fastest Mig of all times and right away the bort number with most interesting history.

Another big n´heavy model - practically same size as SU-27/35.

I met belenko about 20 years ago. I had no particular opinion of him but his feat was impressive.

this is the only model of the current set of releases that I'll be getting, plus or minus an outside chance on the p-26.

in light of yesterday's release of the report by the MH17 joint investigation board and the torrent of absolute lies that came out of russia absolutely before and after it in an attempt to muddy the waters of the fact that Russia bears full responsibility for the murder of 298 innocent men women and children on this plane, i wanted to take this opportunity to further show you guys just how through the looking glass today's Russia is:

check out this article on belenko at "pravda.ru"

A Story Not About A Hero - PravdaReport

it's from 2003 and since then the propoaganda has gone into hyperdrive, but even this is instructive. a hint of the deluge of russian propaganda that was to follow that we "enjoy" to this day.

RT.com's web TV is hilarious, if somewhat unsettling viewing.

They have all these different channels that mimic Western media perfectly, one with US sounding presenters, one with them speaking exact BBC English, and the production values are very high.

They will report fairly normally most of the time, but then there will be something really jarring about Western fascists or the glory of Putin throw in there.

It's strange, but fascinating viewing and interesting to see the (often subtle) spin they put on certain events - especially compared with the occasional sledgehammers as mentioned above.

With MH17 they have been going into overdrive, just this week deciding the did have radar data (something they have previously always denied).

Well, what do you know, but this radar data clearly shows the missile came from the Ukrainian side. Of course.

The icing on the cake is that it completely contradicts what they have offered up before, tracks that were meant to show two things now missing: A) a UkAF Su-25 & B) MH-17 changing course just before the attack.

Sometimes one wonders who they think is going to actually believe this rubbish, but then we have to remember that most of the time they don't give a stuff for what we in the West think and the main target is the internal Russian audience.

Which is why these RT.com internet TV channels are such compelling viewing: it is actually targeted at external audiences and so a very clear live case study of modern propaganda in action.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Ukraine and Russia (including some time in mariupol, not far from the front). Even if you follow the Russian english language lies from RT, Sputnik, and the like, you're seeing but 1% of 1% of the propaganda that russia does in russia and in ukraine as part of its hybrid war agianst ukraine. I'm convinced that if the west really understood the nature of what Russia is doing, we'd collectively be so disgusted we'd entirely cut them off from the civilized world until they changed. I say without exaggeration and with a full and deep knowledge of the history: russian propaganda today in ukraine is far more insidious, mendacious, and cynical than even goebbels' in ww2 It's utterly horrible and the reality is that as beyond terrible as they were and putting aside for a fact that it was wicked and evil beyond description, at least the nazis had an ideology - the fascist russians of today don't even have that - it's simply opportunism and lying and say anything that will stick to keep the ruling class in power and the people in line.

There was a thread before I don't where but HM said (I'm paraphrasing) that they would stop doing the Mig-21 for awhile as sales weren't doing too good. I can't see how this would do any better. Many users like the 21 but scheme wise there's not a lot there other than these silver schemes. Hope they could've gone with the easy cash cows first like the flanker and Fulcrum. Then go for the risky ones after. In any case I'm pretty most of us are waiting for the camo version

shhh we all know we'll get the flanker and fulcrum (and endless mre F-35s and mediocre tomcats and other lowest common denominator stuff ) eventually from HM. let's enjoy the obscure ones as much as we can since every one is a win for the real collector.

hard to imagine why the MiG-21s aren't selling. it's almost as if they expect us not to notice that HM is now trying to sell MiG-21s with inferior paint finishes to the Corgi/HM MiG-21s of about.. 7/8 years ago at only *6 times the price*.

Could be they were referring to interest from distributors rather than collectors.

let's not forget that MiG-25 is a MASSIVE (well, or at least quite a large) aircraft.

now the interesting question: what color is stainless steel? i hope the answer for hobbymaster is not "crayola silver, as that's the color of anything metallic these days."

Yes, the MiG-25 is a very large fighter.

Compare scale drawing below with the F-15.

Oh dear, I just had the thought maybe I should display the MiG 25 with my SR71 on the top shelf.......then I thought, why don't I display all my models by maximum ceiling altitude!

Fortunately I've had a word with myself, and I'm going for a drink instead.....

Yes quite a few operators it would seem for HM to consider. Variant may be a factor as I don't know too much about the different versions.

Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, India, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Libya, Russia, Soviet Union, Syria, Turkmenistan, Ukraine

Quite so. Russia is led by a cabal of gangsters and thugs; it's now worse than the USSR was during its worst days (and that was pretty bad).

Belenko was a "traitor" to one of the most monstrous tyrannies that have ever blighted human history. To those of us who lived in the western democracies at the time, he was a brave and idealistic young man who came to understand that he was serving the common enemies of freedom. He risked his life to act on that realization. Hero comes a lot closer to the mark.

Nah, when your doing it for a better life and $$ (as some around here would know about the later) and it's against your home country, it's hardly heroic

Of course ppl in western countries will like this release, they got their hands on a soviet plane, whether it lived up to their expectation is a diff story

I'm sure that if any manu released a captured NATO plane, the internet would implode for some ppl here. I'm not saying this plane shouldn't be done, just not the first release, that's all I'm saying

That said, I'll get it coz HM have a history of starting new moulds then abandoning them "cough" Vigi "cough" for long periods, it seems to be their cunning plan to increase hyped up releases so I'll get it but can't wait for a soviet version without such bad history and then sell for a profit once rare, I don't doubt this will sell like hot cakes

We're just going to have to hold differing opinions about that.

Yes, Belenko obtained a better life for himself after escaping Soviet despotism for life in the warm glow of freedom (a desire that's universal and as old as the human race itself). And I'm also sure that the U.S. government rewarded him handsomely for his actions, as well it should have. (The information he provided about the MiG-25 and the Soviet military in general was worth far more than whatever reward he received.)

During World War II, a group of German officers plotted to assassinate Adolf Hitler. Unfortunately, their plot failed and almost all of them were arrested and executed shortly afterward. Were they "traitors" because they conspired against the tyrannical government of their own homeland? I certainly don't think so.

Right was right in 1944 and remained so when Belenko flew to Japan in 1976, just as wrong was and remains wrong. The fact of the matter is that Belenko rejected Soviet tyranny in favor of freedom and risked his life to do so. Hero.

Did you ever see MiG-25s anywhere in Europe during your travels around Richard?

Ha ha, that's actually an interesting way of ordering for display; at least for real high-altitude performers such as the Blackbird and Foxbat

The men that tried to assassinate Hilter WERE true hero's, there was no financial gain for them, they did it for the good of their country and their fellow man getting hammered on the front for little reason then for a mad mans pleasure but Belenko was not doing it for world peace like your almost suggesting

If it wasn't for the Foxbat, no one would GAF who he was and he'd just be like anyone else wanting to live a better life, if it had been any other aircraft he flew in that NATO already knew about, then I'd agree he wasn't a traitor but still no hero either

Besides we all know it's not like pilots just get up in the morning and say to themselves "I feel like flying my super secret and much feared aircraft over to the enemy today" no their defo wasn't any CIA or however involvement there, not at all lol

Ok let's agree to disagree and enjoy the model regardless of it's history

I can only begin to guess how much the model representing such a massive plane will cost.

AU$200+ from domestic stores?

Fortunately I've had a word with myself, and I'm going for a drink instead.....

incidentally my sr-71s are at the top of my cabinets. not ideal as their belly all look similar... but damn, they're huge (long)!

USD $130 RRP from TFM apparently, so yeah - in the order of AUD $200 once Australia Tax has been applied

Armchair Aviator offers better prices than even HobbyCo, usually the same as TFM (right now USD $130 ~= AUD $170, we're at bloody $1.30 AUD for a USD right now! ) when I have checked, and defo cheapest shipping deals for someone living Perth (he actually drops mine off to me at work, which is near where he lives - I'm sure he would meet you somewhere mutually agreeable too if you ask).

Of course I am sure you probably know all that already, but for any other Sandgropers and just in case you weren't aware I thought I'd share it
