Default PHISHING WARNING: AVOID WALLPART AT ALL COSTS - PLEASE READ FIRST - Photo SCAM

Unbelievable! I stumbled across this website that is taking pictures posted in our threads being copied and sold as posters at wallpart without permission from some of you who have done your own photo spreads, I suspect.

By the looks of it…..nothing is sacred anymore.

In the case of The Poster Shop and other sites that are sure to follow, DO NOT VISIT THE SITE and give it traffic and by all means DO NOT FILL OUT ANY COPYRIGHT VIOLATION OR DMCA FORMS. The website Change.org has started a petition to remove WallPart with over 50,000 supporters.

If anyone here has already filled out the copyright complaint on the bottom or even clicked on any links there, it would be best to immediately run a spyware scan on your computer.

Hobby master release print posters

Those pictures came from the threads…

Super Kung Fu……. http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...ce-ha1968.html

ACpilot……. http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...esota-ang.html

I’ll bet there are other member’s pictures on this spyware site, maybe even some of mine.

Then the website has the GALL to make you prove to them in a fill in form, with your personal information (therein lies the phishing) that your pictures are actually yours (authored/created by you).

DO NOT VISIT THE SITE and give it traffic and by all means DO NOT FILL OUT ANY COPYRIGHT VIOLATION OR DMCA FORMS SEE POST #4 BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION - Super Moderator -

I picked one of the pictures and took it through some of the cart/checkout process…. the poster are being shipped from China but the website may have its origin in Russia.

They're pretty desperate to have used a few of my pictures. It doesn't bother me, but this is just wrong.

I know how it can have a negative effect on those of you who work very hard to produce great pictures for us here.

It appears the sole purpose of this website isn't to sell prints at all (there does not appear to be any proof that actual sales are happening) but rather to target photographers who are featured on WallPart's website. Photographers are known to freak out when they find their images being used without their permission; it is a behavioral condition that has been reinforced in to our sole existence. If and when a photographer does find their work on the website, they are without a doubt going to issue a cease and desist through WallPart's DMCA/Copyright link at the bottom of the page. Strangely enough, this link at the bottom of the page is one of the only clickable links on the entire page which is not consistent with most legit ecommerce sites. This contact form is the whole purpose of the Poster Shop's website. The contact form is a phishing platform that is used to spam the user and potentially infect their computer with malware and who knows what other nasty adware and spyware.

Throughout the website's existence, much of the functionality, search results, and contact forms have changed. One day you can search for your name and find stolen images only to search 24 hours later and find the results page completely empty. It's clear the site was never meant to run as a business and the functionality of it as a whole is pretty broken. The site is currently hosted in Russia and has been known to change hosting domains in the past after being outed by tech savvy visitors.

It is pretty sad to know that their are websites and companies out there like WallPart preying on photographers who are simply trying to protect and maintain the copyright on their own creations. In today's world we can never be too sure where an email or contact form is actually sending or what personal data is being sent to a company in general.

Tripoli........but if it's a phishing site....then they are pretty convincing....below are screen captures that I question, in comparison to your statements....

“It appears the sole purpose of this website isn't to sell prints at all (there does not appear to be any proof that actual sales are happening).....

Strangely enough, this link at the bottom of the page is one of the only clickable links on the entire page which is not consistent with most legit ecommerce sites.”.....

1st screen capture short of my providing my own info to continue, show to be headed for a legit sale......the other screen captures are in fact clickable to what the links on the page describe....

So .... yes one should always take caution....especially from overseas sites and as a matter of standard practice as I always do....spam/virus check second nature to me......still to me the site looks like it's selling pictures. AVOID THIS SITE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

Anyone that has visited the site should IMMEDIATELY run virus scans on their pc's. Free software for such can be downloaded safely and free at cnet.com if you need to.

Jeff, Thanks for the FYI 411.....thorough due diligence always pay off. I'll definitely stay clear, as you and I hope others do.

Still to see a photogs pictures for sale (that are not really for sale) is discouraging.

Shady Website Offers Posters of Any Image on the Internet Without Permission, Including Your Art

I haven't clicked any of their links, but I think Tripoli deserves a big thank you from us all for explaining the scam and its dangers in detail.

I work as a software developer, but not on "websites" (I work on engineering solution software systems) and immediately grasped what he was saying, but would not have been cognisant of the scam without Tripoli's explanation despite my technical expertise.

I hope no members here have been caught out and can only repeat Tripoli's warning - if you have clicked around there you NEED to run at least a couple of virus/malware scanners.

Not all will be picked up by any one product in my experience, which is why I say at least a couple...

I would advise changing passwords and etc if you have actually provided any details too.
