Not bad for $20-30, Easy Model is good like that, as gap fillers

The world must be coming to an end......finally I have the Belgian F-16 Solo Demonstrator. After waiting til my teeth were naturally falling out waiting....I cancelled my PO with TFM and ordered and received in short order the plane from EZToys! They came through for me

Just checked TFM today....the webpage for this plane still shows it as a pre-order and just as UF mentioned for the price hike of TFM PO's....yes indeed, they also jacked up the price. On TFM...back when the Big Bang took place...the PO price of this particular plane was 124.99 USD ...now it's 137.95USD. Quite a bump in $$....I managed to order it from EZToys at the old 124.99 price. It is listed In Stock on their site.

Anyway here are a some pics below...I may or may not review and add additional pics. Right now I'm not ready to add it to my flying circus planes presently displayed.

Not yet having done an official diecast "Walk Around" ....it's a nice looking Plane from what I can see so far

The Blues will be in San Diego...in a few months (schedule is online)

I found the following 2 documents from the FAA website dated for 2016 (2017 could not be found) ..of interest at least to me...I may print them out to display with my collection ....

Blue Angels Maneuvers Manual

https://www.faa.gov/about/initiative...ers_Manual.pdf

(The first 4 pages are landscaped...the rest showing maneuvers is in normal portrait orientation)

And......

Blue Angels Support Manual

https://www.faa.gov/about/initiative...ort_manual.pdf

Going to RIAT tomororw. Will see the Patrouille Suisse if the weather holds - last year I only got to see their "taxi show" which was actually awesome. The swiss alwys put on a nice show more or less, though not sure it's enough to make me regret not getting a HM version

That's a darn nice collcetion there blues boy. The "teams" that I collect are Blue Angels (all 1/72 models except for the terrible T-6), Thunderbirds (all 1/72 models), Japan Blue Impulse (all models) and a few one-offs like the Ukrainian display aircraft.

Have a great time at the show

Thx...it took me awhile to amass my collection

The T-6 was my terrible fault .... That I believe was my first attempt to communicate with William for a "great" idea....the end result was a failure...as you may or may not know.....I was ripped pretty bad by some members of the forum.....(the posts are buried in a thread somewhere...can't remember how far back, perhaps someone can find and post).

I strongly believe till this day...I had sent him the correct information in written verbiage and pics (see a samples below).

My debacle was that I did not ever pay attention to any pre-pros in order to catch mistakes and let William know before the Final. I took for granted from the the back and forth emails that it was going to be made correctly. I never asked for him to send me pre-pro pics nor did he take it upon himself to send any for my review.....Mia Culpa

As a result, as most of you are aware of, the result was:

wrong propeller spinner

no antenna

wrong serial number...an N was added before the number as well as the last 2 digits were swapped 91074 from the actual number which was 91047 (taken from a webpage that has all the BA's BU. NO.'s)

the yellow was overly bright

There were probably others.

Lessons Learned?? Pre-Pro's are important!!

BB

I had started from the very beginning asking William if he could do the Meatball shown below....and he gave it the thumbs down.

I sympathise. I'm sure that most of us who've assisted HM over the years have learnt similar painful lessons. It's one reason that I generally minimise my involvement these days.

HM tend to say they will send pre pros first to those helping and never do, not sure if that's William dropping the ball or his colleague that deals with the art work, I'd like to think it's the latter.

Odd, I had a lot of back and forth with William on the Spang F-4E and G before they hit the shelves.

At the time of the BA yellow SNJ, I don't think anyone was seriously into the plane or knew about the existence of it. Save the true die hard BA fans.

What a crock of crap. Tax payers now have to pay more to have a model representing our tax dollars? So much for selfless service.

I noticed this auction today. I don't think you have it Blues Boy? Needs a touch up around the stand mount area. I think this piece would be considered not common.

the model looks pretty basic and spotted a couple of blemishes. it's also interesting to note that the title describes it as a model by pacmin pacific miniatures but the item specifics states "century wings". looks more like a crude wood model with decals and not something i'd pay us$197.99 for

Thanks for trying to be helpful......

I have come to realize for myself ..... A wake up call if you will ..... that I have a serious problem with collecting, and for all the different genres of other types of collections other than aircraft, that I have, ...I'm heading towards hoarder status. In view of this, I have ceased collecting. It's was turning into an addiction. What to do with what I already have? That's TBD. I may read/reply posts, maybe post myself, as I still have an interest in aviation overall.

Finally.....although news of the BA transitioning to F/A F-18E/F was iffy for a while....it's now official...yes the news is from Aug 2018

https://news.usni.org/2018/08/14/35796

I had already put the bug (excuse the pun ) into Williams ear...for a 1/72. Now he knows it's official and doable in the near future.

Adding to my BA airframes, this will be a buy IF it is produced.

Crossing fingers

Seems I recall some kit-maker that did a four-plane set of BA F11-F. The cool thing about the set was that the stand allowed for displaying them in a diamond formation. Would be kind of interesting for a diecast maker to do something similar. Hah, can you imagine what HM's rendition of the stand would look like?

revell did the f4j. not sure who did the f11f. hm would probably bungle a ba formation stand... but me thinks corgi would make an absolute mess of a ra formation stand. their current stand are humongous relative to the ra models!

Yeah, it would take some engineering that isn't necessarily a hallmark of diecast these days. BTW, I looked it up and the maker was Monogram. Not a whole lot to recommend the models involved, but the stand was awesome. Friend of mine bought the ancient kit on Ebay and built her up. Great little display piece until the cat got it!

The weight of zinc supported would of course be a factor for any Manu to mfg a multi-plane formation stand. A challenge indeed....

Here are the aforementioned formation stands

Monogram F-11

Revell F-4

And adding AMT/ERTL F-18

well that comment was actually premised upon their stand design that didn't cater for centreline tanks... but i guess ba never perform with those so it'll be ok, i guess?

Here's a company that makes smoke systems for different types of planes...there are also vids in use at shows...it appears the Mig-29 is approved to use it.

Also see the PDF Smokewinder Manual at the very bottom of the page. Shows the systems used in depth.

My guess....The only reason other planes don't use them is probably a configuration and attachment issue.

Sanders Smoke Technologies - Smoke Generators - Smokewinder

Greetings,

A MFG company named Air Force 1 Model in China has produced a 1/72 Diecast metal model MB339 airplane with the UAE Fursan aerobatic team scheme.

Since they now have a new 1/72 scale tooling mold of the MB339 airplane, perhaps you can request to manufacture a custom order, with your Italeri packaging, a limited quantity of 1/72 Diecast metal model of the MB339 Italy Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team scheme. You have the exclusive license for the Frecce Tricolori from the Aeronautica Militare Italiana.

I know Italari already makes the 1/100 scale Frecce Tricolori, However, no one has ever produced the Frecce Tricolori airplane in 1/72 Diecast metal because the mold was not available from a MFG before.

Now the tooling mold for 1/72 Diecast metal MB339 is available from Air Force 1 Model MFG.

As a collector of 1/72 scale Diecast metal airplanes, I would purchase a 1/72 Diecast metal Frecce Tricolori airplane.

Please reply with your opinion.

Thank You!

I was at the Avalon Airshow last Sunday. It was a very hot day, so I didn't stay for most of the flying demonstrations. I did however manage to catch the Roulettes going through their paces.

Did anyone here on this forum/thread happen to download the PDF blue Angels maneuvers manual mentioned in the post above from awhile back?

The link is dead now..
