On a list full of musts for me like the Iranian Tomcat and the RSAF F-16 this is the absolute imperative acquisition. Been lusting after a Turkish MiG Killer quite a while now.

Ah, this is the one that shot down a Syrian MiG-23 in 2013 (per f-16.net). Do MiG-23s exist for any other purpose but to be shot down?

But I digress. Pity is this one and not the one where the TurkAF F-16 shot down the RuAF Su-24. I would have bought that just on principle. I was not able to ascertain the identity of the F-16 involved nor do I know if kill marks have been applied. Maybe would even commission a model maker to make a Su-24 going down in flames and make a nice little diorama.

this is showing the incorrect engine type, but it sure is nice. Amazing news, the upcoming Jordanian F-16 will have pilot's signature on the bomb.

Yep, I'd like that Su-24 killer better than this too.

That would be a great release, but I guess at least with this HM can release the MiG-23 that got splashed too

As well as being shot down, MiG-23s are great at crashing too. There's a great book - "Red Eagles" - about the Have Donut and etc programs out at Area-51 (when the 4477th T&E Sq flew various Soviet jets as aggressors for US pilots) that talks about how much of a death trap the MiG-23s held by the 4477th were for the squadron's pilots. IIRC a quite senior officer was killed flying one, at which point they grounded the rest.

Very different from the hardy Mig-17s and MiG-21s they were also flying.

Upon the aviationist it's the F-16C serialled 91-0008, belonging to the 182 Filo (squadron) who shot the mig-23 !
http://theaviationist.com/2015/05/08...kill-markings/
The drawing from HM shows this serial number, but the squadron marking shows a viper belonging to the 192 Filo squadron :

This viper from 192.filo shows a kill marking of Mi-17, maybe a mistake from HM ? or aviationist mistake between 182 and 192 ?

But the viper belonging to 182.filo have eagle as emblem :

I'm surprised HM would make another Turkish model, the others are just waiting to be dumped, I'm being serious this time...

This one sports a Mi-17 kill, Shot down September 16, 2013. F-16 serial 92-0005 as can be seen in this shot.

91-0008 is heading this shot of the Konya flight line at the 2015 Tiger Meet. You can spot the MiG-kill beneath the cockpit. Definitely in 192 Filo markings.

So no mistake at all by HM. It might be that at the time of the shooting 008 flew with another squadron, but MiG-kill and Tiger Sqn 192Filo markings is correct as such.

Not often but it does mean you do have to be careful about making sure the information you're looking at is correct for a particular airframe. All the more important if the intention is to send the details to HM.

It depends how HM wants to depict the aircraft. Same goes for other releases, for instance the Israeli MiG--killers.

In this case I do like the tiger squadron markings, although 181 Filo which was most probably the Falcon flew for when the kill was made, has a beautiful toned down leopard all over the tail.

i had crossed 2 sources (aviationist and F-16.net), but unfortunately wrong...

otherwise, i do like the 152.filo emblem, warrior on his horse... from crusades time.

A Turkish collector (Tayfun Gürol) has let William know about some required corrections to the profile drawing.

The exhaust nozzle was incorrect and has been changed.

The white colored K.ATATÜRK signature on port side has been added (just behind the canopy).

100th Anniversary logo shown on the original profile drawing will be moved to the correct position on the starboard side.

Revised drawing below.

Dan

This may be the case where someone new is doing Hobby Master's photography and is under exposing.

Normally the background appears white, but here the background appears grey.

As always judge in person.

Basic art 101, you can always look at the same picture in black and white to see if the tone is off:

No matter how much light you add to the picture, it will only change the contrast, tone is always the same.

Whom ever is working at HM with the grey's coloring has been for quite some time getting them far off from the original aircraft.
You see it in the models, badly. The colors will create a dark or light tone, known as value.

HM is using the correct FS36118 dark gunship grey. However, it gives a factory fresh look which doesn't make up for any (sun bleached) weathering.

HM's photography is not helping either. I have the latest USAFE F-16C (Spangdahlem) and it looks fine by me.

It does appear HM's recent photos are under-exposed. Another new release mentioned is the Val where the green looked considerably dark. However the colour is a lot lighter than seen in the photos.

I hope the upcoming brace of Mudhens look good in the flesh too, as I have pre-ordered both.

The issues of colours is a constant thorn in HM's side, in this forum at least.

Something I have noticed is that the screen one is viewing the pics on makes a HUGE difference too - one example is the RCAF BoB show pony model which looked dreadful on my work computer's monitor, but then much less lurid on my phone. Of course, the hard part is knowing which is giving the more accurate impression...
