Now this looks promising. Glad I held off the 1st release, this is much more appealing to me. Especially as I will probably only be getting one EA6B.

Yes this is one I hoped HM would do after I saw an article about building the 1/48 Kinetic EA-6B. The writer chose this livery for the model as it really caught his attention... and I can see why.

Don't really like the look of this one in real life, can't imagine it's going to look good in diecast. (IMO)

This looks better in real life then in the poster. Very tempting but still waiting on the Black Ravens hi viz prowler

I do like this more than the last one, but I'm holding out for a very early hi-viz scheme from Linebacker I/II cruises... IDK how many Prowlers I'll end up with, but am willing to hold out till one of those comes along, at which point I will no doubt decide I really like the model and begin filling in the gaps - yet again

This. Definitely want the high vis "Ravens". Would be my first pick. That being said I'm pretty much in for all of them.

Yep you can definitely count me in for one

Does the stand accomodate the central ordinance? Couldn't quite tell from the photos on Hawkone's site?

Hope there are drop tanks with it as used as a jammer not a SAM attack airplane. Whoops, I see credit for firing 150 HARMs during Desert Storm! Lets say I have never seen an armed version in combat. Drop tanks please.

I think so as I could see blue ordinance underneath with the stand.

This bird really looks cool with that camo scheme, I waited for this one as I'm not a big fan of the boring 'grey' versions...

The grey sensor pods put me off. I can't get past how they just look out of place against the camo so i'll stick with my Gauntlets EA-6B!

Cool...didn't know that. Do they ever paint over jamming pods/EFTs in the Navy for camo reasons?

That is true but you can always display your Prowler with them AGM-88 Harm missiles... that's what I will do and I don't care if it's wrong or not because at the end of the day it's your model on display in your own home!

I wish they would release more Intruders and Crusaders. (I already have almost all their USN and the one SEA camo SLUF so I'm pretty sorted as far as Corsairs go, though some A/B model early really schemes would also be nice to have.)

Again, with the flying tadpoles, I have a bunch of the cool hi-viz USN schemes already, but I would buy more at the drop of a hat - also especially if they did some A/B (A-6Bs configured for Iron Hand, though a USMC EA-6B with the Prowler-style RWR/EW bulge on the tail would be another definite buy for my too...) early, VN war schemes.

Why there has not been a VF-111 Sundowners Crusader is one of the great diecast mysteries IMO. That would sell out without a doubt - not only is it a very-attractive scheme in its own right, but who wouldn't want a line up of CW Crusader, X-Plus/HM Spook(s) and CW (plus whichever of the other 50 or so manus putting out Tomcats these days next get around to releasing a VF-111 F-14 again) F-14, with a nice little HM F-5F to top it all off? All those glorious tails and shark mouths in a row would be a brilliant little mini-theme.

Well, I think so at least.

But, as you say it's been a long time between drinks for CW's other moulds (ie not Tomcats!) and I fear we may have seen the last of them, more's the pity!

as madonna once sang... life is a mystery. hence the absence of a sundowners crusader is one of them. c'est la vie

okay... i'm on the fence with this release. now that i've got it in my hands, the first thought that strikes me is, "is the mid brown tone supposed to be this pinkish?" then again some may say it's the lighting or colour perception. anyway, my very first prowler and the overall mould looks excellent.

The color does look a bit off compared to the real life photos and the final product photo. Btw, how do you get your models so early tomcatter? I get mine like 1.5 months after you.

yeah, somehow the in-camera auto adjustments are playing havoc with my pics. but tbh, the actual colours do somewhat differ from the pro and real life photos. that pink hue!

no idea, mate. always thought timbuktu was far more remote than any other place in the world. in fact these were sitting in their boxes for a couple of days already. only just had the time to unbox them. didn't know you have to wait that long for your stuff to arrive. dan seems to get his pretty quickly, doesn't he?

Most of my models are purchased in Hong Kong which is something like a half hour drive from most factories.

Add another six weeks for the container ships to get from Hong Kong to N. America.

just opened mine.

i bought this model at nearly full price, but indications seem to be that supply exceeds demand so you may be able to find one cheaper soon.

the colors are much, much lighter than in the pre-pro photo posted above. however, the match to the actual aircraft is pretty darn good. the flat finish works well on this and the soft spray edges are appropriate and well done. yay! fs complimenting hm on paint and it's not april 1!

hm's prowler mould is lovely, fortunately for hm, this livery required little to no stenciling, though they should have aded more detail around the cockpit area.

naefookin bad, but, again, saved by the lack of stenciling and such on the prototype. one of hm's stronger releases.

i'm thinking that the prowler is the current HM equivalent of the F-105 and F-111 - just really decent large moulds whose errors are drwarfed by the overall impressiveness.

this image is pretty darn close in colors to what's sitting on my desk now. i have led lightbulbs everywhere here in this office. maybe under harsh white light the pinkish effect might come out more, but under something more like natural sunlight it seems to be ok. as i said in the other thread, maybe the pink could be toned down slightly, but its not a deal breaker.

agreed. not a deal breaker. would be a long wait for another desert camo prowler, that's for sure. that doesn't mean i'll be letting my prowler bask in the sun to look just right, though

I'm also happy with my example when i first purchased mine and the 'pink' don't bother me at all... but i do hope it won't be the only HM camo Prowler because i definitely wanna see another camo Prowler version, a darker green or grey version perhaps, such as the sample below...

Speaking of the HM EA-6 Prowler, i really wanted the 'Star Warriors' at one point when HM first revealed it, i was so joyful & happy and was crying like a little 6 year old school girl when HM announced it... but after it was cancelled man my hole world came crashing down and to this day i'm still not the same person i was before, i can't still not forgive Disney for doing this to us Star Wars collectors...

NO DOUBT I would have bought that if it were produced

Hell I would have even bought a Hogan Wings 1:200 version of it, if they produced it as well!

If your a Code3'r (I'm not)..... You can always find and buy the Microscale ...AC72-0027......1/72 decalset that includes that scheme of decals as well as 3 others for VAQ-209.

Maybe they'll make an EA-18G version of it.
