Well chosen by HM in the sense that their current paint process can indeed do a decent job with this scheme.

bright primary colors, clean demarkation lines, minimum of stencils. perfect for hm.

William had mentioned to me that this scheme was in the works when I sent him a picture of it - I had no idea that it would be so soon after ... very nice and a definite buy for me.

Well this certainly interests me. Seems little chance of getting the CW IRIAF so this may well be my best bet. I do like desert camo schemes, and no one can say the Iranian's didn't get their money's worth out of these airframes.

Slight snafu on Hawkones read up "where the F-18s played a major role in Iran winning the air war". They wish!

I hope HM realizes that this is a early a model and that they get the IR sensor on the nose right. The one in the artwork is wrong. Also it should have early A gun vents and no ECM blisters under the wing. The scheme itself is a great choice. Also I don't know what the correct load out for this should be but as I understand Iran hasn't been able to use the Pheonix for a long time due to spare part issues.

There's an opportunity for a really interesting loadout here, as the IRIAF modified Hawk SAMs to be used as Phoenix replacements! IDK if this scheme is contemporaneous with the use of those modified Hawks, but if it is that would be a very cool payload.

The more I look at this, the more I like it. I don't have any ME jets so far, other than Western nation's AC forward deployed to the ME, not really being a fan of regimes like Israel under Netanyahu and Jewish Home or their mates in the KSA, so this would be a perfect place to start.

Iran (Persia) has a really interesting history and culture though and its military's history is also very interesting. Despite the best efforts of AIPAC channeled via the US Congress, they have managed to keep their fleet of '70s US AC airborne and credible - an amazing achievement under the circumstances.

It's great to see the sanctions lifted, Iran welcomed back into the international community and open for business again! It's a country I would love to visit, which is now easier than before, and they seem to be acquiring new defence tech already with their S-300s finally being delivered. Apparently a fleet of Su-30SMs (though I guess they'll be designated -MKIr or something in line with the -MKI, -MKV and etc designations for India and Vietnam respectively.

Wouldn't this look brilliant next to an IRIAF Flanker when someone brings out more Flanker models (assuming that deal goes through of course)?

This could well be my first HM Tomcat after all - I think I just talked myself into it

Amazing how you still manage to piss on HM. If you don't like 'em, don't bother buying. But I'm guessing you will have already pre-ordered 2.

Pretty much the same. I'd give CW a slight edge when it comes to paint and accuracy of the model (HMs F-14D Tomcatters release has ECM blisters under the wing which should not be present on a D model). I have the Checkmates release. The markings are not as nice as CW but it's the second best F-14 mold by far. If you like th scheme get it as I don't think CW will release this in the near future or ever. Remember that the CW Iranian release didn't sell well when it came out so I think they'll be reluctant to release another Iranian model.

Don't know, generally I wouldn't advise buying models as an investment because it could go either way ie depreciate instead of appreciate in value. I haven't followed the previous Iranian Tomcats as it isn't a livery that appeals to me. If those releases have gone up in value... well you may be inclined to think the same for this one.

CW F-14 IRIAF sold on eBay over USD 400.00 on 2014, One seller listed another one on eBay and asked for Euro 550.00.

The CWs came out when most of the current collectors were still messing around with glue, paint and lots of swearing. :-)

People who are really really late to jump on the band wagon after this release will want to pay quite a bit for an Iranian Tomcat but I doubt that we'll see these high asking prices actually be paid for HM Tomcats.

I am looking forward to parking my F-4, F-5 and pre-ordered F-14 together, the CW IIAF F-14 is way too much money for me, perhaps HM will also release the blue IIAF F-14. Too bad I do not have an Iraqi MiG-21 Tomcat Killer to go with them

This CW Iranian Tomcat is hard to find in good condition, so I'm glad HM took the initiative to produce one of their own that will look similar to the one CW first came out with...

I wouldn't be as mean as to say 'stupid' - but foolish or naive... yes. The model could be released with silly errors & you'd have three on your hands.

Why not wait until first photos appear, it's not like its going to sell out in the first week or two.

Hobbymaster isn't exactly a brand you would buy for 'investment' IMPO
Century Wings - yes but I think their golden days are over due to the high initial costs nowadays and HM's entry into the F-14 game.

Personally I've never bough multiples for re-selling although I know a few who have with CW & GMP and have done well, very well in fact.

HA5205 is in a striking scheme and a great choice by HM.

But we've gone from HA5203 (JR) announcement to HA5205.... any conspiracy theories as to what has happened to HA5204?

I only bought the CW Iranian Tomcat to Code 3 it into the NSAWC version... can't do anything with this nonsense. Looks cool but I'd rather not celebrate America's enemies.

I don't see that to be true, HA1910 is being sold for $450, but CW-001604 dumped real bad, it even goes on sale many times but it is still on the shelves.

Have to agree on that. Between HM and CW, it is not about the brand, but about the scheme. Scrappy is just NOPE. However HA1910 or the HM Showtime F-4...

Scrappy will eventually sell out as did the Green Knights A-6. A different question on whether the ebay price goes up after that.

Only perhaps 5204 was the next planned release and HM decided it wouldn't be ready in time. As to the livery..., ok conspiracy would be it was another '78 JR Tomcat and CW's announcement of their 10th anniversary ruined it all

Pretty sure the Germans, British, Japanese, Vietnamese, and Russians just to start have done far worse to us and our assets than the Iranians ever will

Very good point you made but we all have our own needs & plans what will work or what will not with regards to investing in a given Diecast model. But you are absolutely right, I will wait until someone else purchases it first & analyzes it & tells us here the pros & cons, and then I will decide if this model is in fact worth the investment!! Have a wonderful day my Aussie mate!!

I don't think this is 'nonsense' at all... We all have our personal preferences or what Diecast models we like to have in our collection no matter what others might think about it. A Iranian collector might also state that we won't purchase any HM model representing the USAF because they might also see it as how you see things, they might also say; "Looks cool but I'd rather not celebrate Iran's enemies"...

Always remember what you don't like, many others might love to have or own & would pay lots of $$$$ money for... Just saying!!

Yeah, but it won't be funny for the rest of us if they actually do start shooting at each other in the US. Tolerance isn't exactly well tolerated idea there at the moment!

Contrary to the sensationalized media reports I don't think the US is the only nation who suffers from a lack of tolerance.
