Already sent to William for his consideration.

2016 RCAF CF-18 Demonstration Team New Paint Scheme

Celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan (BCATP).

Perhaps one of Canada's greatest contributions to the Second World War. That was the enormous undertaking of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. In that great venture some 120,000 Canadian and allied aircrew personnel were trained in Canada: it was a contribution which effectively changed the course of the war.

Kinda fun! Not as spectacular as the BoB Hornet, but pretty cool. The BCATP Hornet should have been a CF-18B

Actually, I guess it is the BoB Hornet in new clothes. 761.

I like the BCATP Hornet better than the BoB Hornet; so yeah, I'd definitely buy one!

Heard from William and it is possible that we may see this as a future release.

The more I look at it, the more I like it. I would definitely buy it anyway. But yes, it's a pretty bird. Here it is in flight with Yellow Thunder, a new Harvard demonstration team:

while i am a fan of rcaf's eye catching schemes, i noticed that accurate as hm does them, they do linger around on the store shelves for a pretty long time. i'm not sure why. perhaps hm rams up production for such birds and canucks sell them at airshows? i do see the centennial and aete bug around still. lack of ordnance perhaps? no, i'm not advocating hm incorrectly include ordnance... just saying that some collectors may not pick the nice looking birds by reason that they never came with anything more than drop tanks and luggage pods, perhaps?

No doubt, an attractive color scheme, it has a sort of "pop" to it. However, the way things are presently...I would not expect to see the artwork on the Vertical Fins reproduced at the 1/72 scale by HM or any other MFG.

IMO, too intricate of hairline sketches.

Picture it without them. It should look just as good.

They reproduced the Battle of Britain Hornet's tail. I don't see it being an issue.

I'd love to see a demo Hornet in straight 1970's operational livery. Paint it light grey and put the red lightning bolt down the side, matching the CF-101 Voodoo of the era.

This is true with most release these days.

Production numbers are smaller, prices are higher, and stock takes longer to sell.

Canadian models in general sell very well however and this has been mentioned by William.

I'm one of those that avoids the special liveries. I prefer the low vis or commander liveries. I love the CF-188a but I'd avoid the the Battle of Britain livery.

That would be a bad-*** livery...too bad it probably won't be produced since it's a fantasy one.

Well, yes. Although I was hoping more that the RCAF would do one as a real demo Hornet someday.

CF-18 is still a great looking plane especially with a fresh paint job.

Saw an operational one in YYZ a couple of weeks back. It looked well worn to say the least. Even though it's a 30 year old plane it still looks sinister. Hope the demo plane won't break down every other airshow as it's still a thrill to see them fly.

I seem to remember they were filthy by 1985! We've got our money's worth out of that purchase for sure! Another stunningly beautiful photo Dan; that one almost begs to be a poster.

Cheers,
Roy

Definitely stands up to the "Hornet" name with those colors. Hard act to follow last year's BoB jet

Loving this CF-18 livery. Really cool tail art. I believe this pic is from the May/June 2016 MAPLE FLAG exercise. Perhaps HM might produce a limited run...?

There really is a seemingly endless supply of great looking CF-18 liveries that Hobby Master can pull from. I agree, Kangaroo. I like that tail a lot.

Ugh, I can't find any other photos of this livery. I know it's the Bighorn sheep/ram on the tail art cause it's the 401 squadrons badge. I'm hoping to send this to William to see if this is a viable scheme for production.

I would assume that this would be easier to produce than the annual demo CF-18...it's definitely not as complex as the BoB or 2016 BCATP liveries.

The moderators need to start banning some of these trolls permanently. This used to be a fun forum. The childish attitudes and constant shoot downs are getting to be a bit much.

Well, I think it'd be pretty cool to have a fighter from a military exercise. If they make Tiger meet fighters, then why not one from exercise Maple Flag or RIMPAC?

Also since the 401 squadron's badge/crest is the Bighorn sheep/ram, I think the rather fine tail art is a fitting tribute imo.

HM also already has the mold for the CF-18, and they have the ACMI POD from the CF-188B, so I don't think it would be too expensive or time-consuming to produce this livery. Plus, it would give people a chance to own an (almost) all grey CF-188A, as they've only produced 2 grey CF-18s.

They'll produce 50 similar looking US Navy jets in white or grey with slightly different tails. I don't think a single grey Hornet with a unique tail from a military exercise is that much to ask. Looks cool to me.
