Default My Avro Arrow

Finally I got my Arrow ( Hobby Craft 1/72). This is my 1st Canadian Jet and won't be the last.

I quite like the weathering on that! (How it would look after an extended test flight programme)

Hey thanks. I plan to build the RL201 too if I can find the kit for a good price.

looks good, does this mean you are going hornet hunting soon? Perhaps a Canadian Starfighter or two?

It is a well-finished model, I used to get ridiculously fussy about removing joins, sanding parting lines on all parts, etc. This one turned out better than anything I ever made. The only model I actually completed was a Tamiya (I think) 1/48 A-10A finished in the lizard grey/green scheme. It looked just like the real deal except I hadn't applied a flat coat, so it ended up with a "satin" finish after decals applied (I didn't have the balls to risk mucking it up after getting that far). Anyway, nice thing about this Arrow kit being you could create the fleet of the entire test programme - believe they had up to RL-206 in the works.

What brand of paint did you use for the "day-glo" orange part of the RL-203?

Hey thanks Caribou & Kangaroo.
I used Tamiya paint and mixed the red & yellow to get the "day-glo" orange.

RL-206 was virtual complete with the much more powerful Orenda Iroquois engines and would have flown very soon. The axe stopped it from proving what a world-beater interceptor for the time Canada had in the CF-105. Several others including 207 and 208 were in an advanced state. Hope the guys doing the torch work didn't care for beautiful aircraft or that would have been one painful job!

It looks like from RL203 to RL206 all have the same painting scheme ?
