I know most won't notice, but I prefer CW's silver painted vents along the spine of the A/C.

The walkway is probably not supposed to be on both sides

I like the two lines on top of the canopy and how it accurately resembles the remote control antenna

For newer HM releases (this JR F-14, blue japanese RF-4EJ.....) there were no Pre pro photos posted, only the artwork and then Final Product photo only. I wonder why, since pre pros were the perfect possibility for last minute changes, to fix minor touches like this.

What's going on?

Colour it in mate if it makes you butt hurt so much

You want HM also misalign the skull and crossbones as well like in this pic ? Which isn't of AJ200....

BTW, I noticed on this release that the vertical tails have been corrected and are no longer quite so vertical.

I agree with you Dan. I know I'm in the minority but the whole 6 Phoenix's on an "A" model just dumbfounds me. Google will find a few pics of inert load outs but operationally the jet haul it off the carrier and be effective. It most likely couldn't of gotten airborne without using emergency only fuel. People need to chill the F out and just enjoy it.

^ Well people whined (just like you did right there!) about the 'unrealistic' 6 phoenix load and it appears we won't ever get that either now...

Funny how it's 'live and let live' about the TARPS pod, but pitchforks and torches for Phoenixes.

The half-dozen Buffalo ability was probably for a no-sh*t Cold War, the Soviet bombers are coming for us BARCAP. A lot of operational constraints go right out the window in wartime. Operational longevity and wear and tear concerns disappear when the primary concern is keeping KH-22/AS-4 missiles away from the carrier group. Something of an emergency/contingency nature programmed into the jet, but never used because it wasn't practical or needed.

The mold is fine, I'm just a little discouraged that they won't release pre-pros so we can catch the little stuff that keep this from being an excellent release, IMO. Just hope they don't make these little (but big) mistakes on any Tomcats that I really want.

It's too bad it looks nothing like this. HM did do a great job overall on this release, it is very nice, it just doesn't look like a 70's JR and that is unfortunate. The white makes this bird, its absence makes it look like a 1990's JR

SKF's looks nothing like that though. His looks solid all the way down in his thread. It maybe white on the bottom as no pics were taken of that, but the white shouldnt just be on the bottom

The white coming from the bottom should wave into the primary top color.

Take another look. The white is there on Michael's photos.

It's just that the pics are a bit under exposed due to the all black background.

I was expecting slightly less than this

Even our Aardvarks have more than what I am seeing on his example.

Are you referring to the demarcation line where the lower surface white meets the upper surface gray?

I think it look fine the way it is. The demarcation line for the white on the bottom of my CW's F-14A VF-84 AJ200, AJ202, AJ203 & AJ210 is more or less at the exact same location as HM version while the AJ201 & AJ207 copies are more of what I think you're describing Steve where it goes up a bit further vertically on the side of the plane.

yes, when I look at his pics I see a 91 JR much like this CW

CENTURY WINGS Aircraft Diecast Model | 1/72 Scale F-14 | F-14A TOMCAT U.S.NAVY VF-84 AJ201 1991

I don't see a 70's, needs more white. I think it's nice and well done, but it is like this one's twin brother.

Even in their art of what they were attempting to make it look like the white is clearly spilling over and the final production pics too. I just don't see it on his. Regardless they did make it look good and that is a step in the right direction. I have the CW landing booked anyway so if everyone is happy with it than I'll leave it alone

Well... looking at photos of the actual aircraft, the position of the demarcation line appears to match the model.

Photo belongs to 787SupplyChain as posted in this thread

the white carries through all the way to the nose on the real aircraft. It doesn't on the model, it stops at the diagonal bar and goes no further. Its a shame because it could have been that much better.

As you said in SKF's review topic, the white does wave into the grey, so all is good (paint wise).
