Definitely in for one. I hope it's reasonably priced, because they are quite small models.

Have the first Russian P-39. No need for these.

I've also got the first Russian P-39, but nice to see HM dusted off the mold to make a few more Airacobras.

Can't understand why they thought this was a better idea than Air-a-cutie unless their goal was to simply flush out from the bushes the people who still can't be bothered to apply the terms 'russian' and 'soviet' correctly.

seems like $59.99 is the base price for 1/72 WWII single engine models these days.

Dang! I'd have bought that one no matter how many HM Aircobras I had.

Would be good I think for Hobby Master to get some suggestions from fans for choices if they're planning on re-releasing more 1:72 WWII, but it's nice to see HM/ Skymax resurrecting some of their 1:72 WWII single props.

Though these are basically the same plane, different pilots looks like, a split run?
I too have the previous ace of P-39 aces so probably a pass for me.

Not sure why HM is choosing such "dull" versions, although will buy one because there is not much on the market from fighters flown by soviets buring WWII. Much better choice would be that one:

or a winter one

The one of Rechkalov would also be nice, especially for people who missed the first HM release with Pokrishkin

Over on Hobbymastercollector.com, the January 2016 poster no longer features the P-39s--what happened?

I love the P-39, and although I don't buy much die cast anymore, I'd still like to add one of the little friends to my ww2 collection.

As to the bodacious boobs found on many liveries, William has expressed concern before that they may not be "collector friendly" to some extent. Even though they have released some in the past with pin ups. So I don't know. I remember trying to convince William that there were a couple of scantily clad women adorning the nose of some F-105s that were just begging to be done and he disagreed.

Same here - it's a difficult choice.

The other sides feature an angel and more Cyrillic writing respectively.

What is the historical significance to this particular airframe that it's being realeased in two liveries?

err... hasn't hobby master provided a brief description of their significance?

"In April 1942 Ivan II’ich Babak was assigned to 45th IAP (45th Fighter Wing) of the 100th
GIAP (Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment) flying a Yak-1. In April 1943 Babak downed 14
fighters over Kuban making him a top Kobra Ace and winning the HSU award – Hero of
the Soviet Union. Later that year Babak contracted malaria and spent several months in
hospital. On April 22, 1945 Babak was shot down and had 33 victories and 4 shared.
The inscription below Babak’s P-39N reads “From the schoolchildren of Mariupol”."

"When Ivan Babak was placed in charge of the 16th GIAP in February 1945 his P-39N
42-9033 was given to Grigorii Ustinovich Dol'nikov of the 100th GIAP. On April 18, 1945
Ace Petya Guchyak was shot down so Dol'nikov had Barak’s Angel on the right side
painted over and an inscription added that read “For Petya Guchyak. When Ivan Babak
was shot down on April 22, 1945 Dol'nikov had the inscription “For Vanya Babak” added
to the left side. Dol'nikov accumulated 15 confirmed victories and 1 probable."
