Default Herpa 1/72 Military Range

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned (apologies if so) but whilst perusing the Aviationmegastore site for the Herpa releases I noticed that they are now the distributors for Modelyletedal JAS 39 Gripens.

They also appear to be planning to sell the Witty stands separately for the re-born Witty molds (so no change there), appear to be releasing a P38J and a F104G

They are certainly getting into military 1/72 scale in a big way.

I actually picked up a couple of the Gripens - and while HM is a higher quality I must admit that I do like the looks of them and they make a nice addition in my cabinets

Yes I assume Herpa want to get as much return as possible out of acquiring the Witty molds, unless they paid a ridiculously low amount like $1 for the lot

Are these the same mold as the Aviation 72 Gripens?

Same question I was going to ask. If not how do they compare?
The cockpit area has always been my biggest complain about Aviation 72 models. They just looks so toy like.

No, they are not the same molds, Modelyletadel Gripens look better, especially in the cockpit area as chenc544 noted.

Here you can find some more information incl. photos:

Thanks Ladia, for posting the link. The Italian model is definitely better IMHO.

No Modelyletedal uses the altaya mode as opposed to av72's mould
