Beautiful photography, really brings out the life in that hornet!

I ended up hunting down a 2011 HA3502 CF-18 Hornet "Libya No Fly Zone" as my first Diecast Model Aircraft a few months ago. Cost me a fortune but it was well worth it! It also started a downward spiral of me collecting more RCAF 1:72 diecast models, I'm at four at the moment, and I'm still hunting for more!

Go for the HA1054 Lockheed CF-104D (CFB Baden-Soellingen). It's one of my favorite Starfighters. I have it with gears down on take-off on the HM stand. It looks awesome with the stand because it's angled at almost 45 degrees.

Hi!
New to the forum, recently started my own Canadian collection and would love to find a CF-188 to add to the collection.
Looking for ideas on displaying the jets, any pictures would help.

Hi there Jsnow and welcome to the wallet emptying club. Nice pic of your RCAF collection - the list is long that can be added to it

A change of theatre for our Canadian thread - WWII... at this point anyway. I will admit the Spitfire is one of my favorite WWII warbirds. I think these are two of the best from Gemini Aces.

Gemini Aces GARAF1006N Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX RCAF No.412 Sqn, George Buerling, RAF Biggin Hill, England, 1943

Gemini Aces GARAF1008 Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX RCAF No.443 (Hornet) Sqn, ML417, RAF Croix-sur-Mer, France, 1944

Impressive looking GA Spits EF, especially for 1:72 scale. Noticed the "movable" control surfaces as well. Accuracy, paint, and detail could very well rival CG offerings. Great photos as usual.

Thanks Spooky, glad you like the photos.

...and the WWII theme continues. Canadian of course

Next up is quite an old Corgi release. Might not compare well against the latest HM or GA models and for me I like the scheme not to mention the history behind the actual aircraft. Very much a BoB plane.

Corgi AA32008 Hawker Hurricane Mk I RCAF No.242 Sqn, P2961, Willie McKnight, Battle of Britain, 1940

...it's almost impossible to photograph a "black" plane. Very cool seeing a single engined aircraft with a four gun turret in the rear. Don't know if this is an urban legend, I have heard it said the Hurri and Defiant looked so similar they had on one occasion flew in a mixed formation to fool Luftwaffe fighters. Last pic has them both parked.

Boulton Paul Defiant NF Mk.I 410 (RCAF) Squadron, RAF Drem, 1941

Very nice photos!

The Defiant must be a code 3 custom repaint of a diecast model or made from a plastic kit.

By the way, no big deal but, 242 Squadron was entirely RAF (although mainly manned by Canadians) and not RCAF.

Keep those photos coming!

I've always liked this Corgi Hurricane as well. Other than the infamous gap at the lower tail, which I tend to ignore, this WW2 bird is a real gem...

I am shocked,....shocked ya hear me. A thread on the RCAF in Diecast and no mention,....I mean no mention at all on one of the most beautiful pieces of Diecast ever produced.

Corgi AA32606 - Lancaster Diecast Model, RCAF No.107 Rescue Unit: The Flying Mule

Its as beautiful in the flesh as those presented on the Mule site. I would not get rid of mine any more likely than my Bomber Command Lancs.

I have a rather extensive RCAF theme going myself. Although its a post war theme up to the CF188s. I do have some WW2 stuff, but unfortunately its in with the RAF themes (sorry Dan ).

The Arrow is the pick of the bunch, but the NMF Voodoo is a star too.

Nice collection EF.

Forgot to mention, on the afternoon of October 9, 1953, Avro Lancaster KB 966, of No. 405 Sqn., RCAF Stn. Greenwood, NS, crashed very close to the PMQ's where I was living. I remember playing outside in my backyard when the plane crashed, and the earthshaking impact I felt when it hit the ground. KB 966 lost power on both port-side engines immediately after takeoff and, sadly, all crew members were killed. I've attached a couple photos of Lancaster KB 839, located at the museum site at Greenwood...

Thanks Dan. I knew I was going to slip up somewhere You are correct about the Defiant. It is the new Airfix tooling. The decals are aftermarket as no RCAF markings are included with the kit. I remain hopeful Corgi will release an RCAF Defiant someday.

Thanks mate. I was wondering where you were going with this and perhaps start talking about Beavers It's a cool looking scheme and great Corgi made the model in addition to the usual Bomber Command ones.

Wish I lived near an airbase Certainly sounds like quite an experience. I will have to pass on the RCAF heavies "mission" to another collector. This could change depending on how this one turns out

Here are the two RCAF heavies I wish were part of my Canadian Collection. CG-AA32605 (KB726) Avro Lancaster RCAF No. 419 Sqn. and CG-AA32606 (MK.10MP) Avro Lancaster RCAF No. 107 Rescue Unit. When collecting Corgi WW2 1:72 scale fighters I decided not to get these two RCAF heavies since I thought they would take up too much room. It would be great to see photos of these two beauties from members' RCAF collections.

I have the RCAF Lancaster Rescue - and it is fantastic. They come up from time to time on eBay and usually not too bad of a price. It is definitely a worthy addition to my collection. I show the picture of my Arrows with the Lancaster to show the size of the Arrows in comparison - it was a very large aircraft.

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...lancaster.html

I envision that I will require a Vera to add to my collection as my grandfather was a mechanic on the Lancaster during the war (Passionate Peggy) - too bad I do not know which airfield he was stationed at. My other grandfather was a tail gunner instructor in Wellingtons so I will be needing one of these as well - to pay homage to their service.

I forgotten how much I liked this model. AV200 made a nice job of the paint finish and choice of livery.

If someone were to produce a 1/72 diecast version, here it is next to the Witty Super Hornet

Good for you! IMO, they are the best MK IX Spits in spite of a few inaccuracies like the oversized rudder (because it is a moveable piece?) and the underwing pitot tube of the clipped wing version glued under the wrong wing. And, why is the pilot all dressed in blue?

I have these and they are some of my most prized models of my collection.

We got lucky with Tracy finding some parts... As a suggestion, if you can, grab the whole "front gear assembly" in case the "door" can't be reinstalled. Also, both sets of "air brake doors" in case it's the "ups" instead of the "downs" that are missing from your, yet to arrive, "203". Happy to have been of some help...

I believe you've described exactly what she has set aside for me.

All items have been picked up from CWHM and await 203's arrival :-) I imagine 203 must be getting pretty close to customs and REPATRIATION :-)

Good news and happy "Tracey" (with an "e") was able to locate the parts. I look forward to hearing what kind of shape your 203 is in after it's arrival and your thorough inspection...

CWHM ARROW PARTS: Contact Tracey at CWHM Gift Shop if you are in need of parts for any of the three Avro Arrows. There are no "day-glo" parts available but most pieces for all three Arrows are white. Please refer to my more detailed post located on the "Arrow Mk.1 25204" thread...

I'm please to report I totally lucked out on the 203 !

While the outer box is in utterly appalling condition, the model itself is every bit as pristine as my museum bought, 204.

Thanks go to those who alerted me and to those who encouraged me to buy despite my initial reservations about missing pieces.

The missing piece turned out to be a non-issue thanks to the advice given by Spooky and Stitching 6 (their strategic advice to contact CWHM for spare bits). Thanks also goes to the fellow who encouraged me to, "wait" for a, "better price". You know who you are

Fantastic news Brent... Arrows 203 and 204 look awesome parked together.
Don't give up hope on finding 201 - there's 3500 of them out there...

Brent... You can now install a HM pilot figure in the front seat of 203 and 204. Getting the GIB (guy in back) jammed into the rear seat is a chore and he can't be seen through that tiny window anyway... Or, did you install the PF's I sent you in the RCAF Chipmunk...?

I joined the "3 Arrows Club" today ! Pictured in order of purchase, bottom to top. Two months ago today I had zero Arrows. The price was much better than the other 201 listed (probably still is listed) which would cost over 700.00 CAD (after currency exchange, shipping and importing duties).
