Default HM Northrop F-5 and HM F-4 Phantom questions..

Anybody know which (if any) Witty stands will work well with Hobby Master's F-5 and F-4...??

Witty stands are the cat's meow IMO, I know the screws can sometimes be prone to stripping, but that can remedied with a drop of blue (not red) Loctite down the screw holes when assembling.

Any info on the stands is appreciated.

I use Witty F-16 stands for HM F-16s and F-2s all the time. Zero problems, slide right on.

And I use Witty F-18 stands for HM F-4s. Can't fit the belly tank and they might put a little pressure on the aft pair of Sparrows on the F-4, but they work.

Would that be the Witty F-18 A/D or F-18 E/F stand..?? Apparently they are not interchangeable, at least not on the Witty birds.

Personally, if its not a plane the stand is made for I don't trust the Witty / GA copies for other models. Had too many take a nose dive for my liking.

I think I saw you post something on this in another thread Shawn, but wasn't it primarily due to stripped threads...?? I'll be the first admit the screws on the WW stands are very small diameter, and the thread pitch is too fine, so I can see where they'd strip easily, especially with larger/heavier models, but there are a couple ways to remedy that, and I really like the way you can rotate and swivel the model a bit on the Witty stands.

No, I have found that using superglue as lock-tite helps with screws.

Its the models falling off of the mount itself that keeps me from putting a non specific model on the Witty stands.

And the GA stands for the F-4 are the worst! Everyone of them has taken a dive.

F-16s on F-16 stands ok
F-15s, same
F-18s are good, I think the arresting hook helps.
F-104s alittle nervous, but so far ok.

OK cool, thanks for clarifying that...

The majority of my F-15's, 16's and 18' are mostly Witty at the moment anyway, so I should be good to go.

Both, doesn't seem to be an issue WRT the HM F-4.

That was me....happened to the larger birds, Witty F-15 and CW F-14's. The smaller models never had an issue. Since then I keep the CW's on the ugly clear stands. They sure looked great on the Wittys though, not worth the chance to me, though I didnt put any loctite on them when I put the stands together.
