I'm sure all these ethics concepts were on the Russians' minds all the times they've shot down airliners full of civilians.

Oh wait, they weren't.

Oh yeah. And these Russian aviators were hardly innocent themselves.

So...
Quote:
it is telling that Russia will fly 8,000 miles with its most expensive aircraft to operate, then launch million-dollar long-range cruise missiles against targets in a country that they can fly over freely—yet their daily attacks by aircraft based right within that country are made on the cheap with dumb bombs.
"Rarrr, Russia strong!!!"

The difference of two nations at war versus a non at war nation drawing itself and all other NATO countries is a bit of a big leap in comparison. I don't love Russia, but I certainly understand the need for the need to err on caution with the Syrian conflict, and especially western forces interacting with Russian forces. This can snowball quickly. Those who do not learn from history repeat the mistakes of history.

If we have to give warnings or warning shots, before making birth certificates worthless documents. We aren't doing it 10 times over a five minute period.

As you say, just because you have a gun. It doesn't mean you get to do as you wish in other peoples space. Ivan learned that the hard way.

I highly doubt this Turkish pilot acted on his own without instructions from his higher. If he did, it appears they are backing him publically.
Well said Shawn and, fact is, we really don't know what was going on for the Turkish F-16 pilot. Warnings were given and as you said the Turkish pilot would have been given some direction before taking the action he did. Obviously "Ivan" posed some kind of serious threat by entering Turkish airspace and the F-16 pilot was doing his job defending his homeland. Don't know who the scum were that shot at and killed the crew of the downed Flanker, after they ejected, but I'm sure we can all agree that this was not only cowardly behaviour but also a definite war crime.

So what do you all think of the 111 FS 90th anniversary F-16, the blue and yellow one? Is it too late for HM to make it? It was from 2007

I'm all for this one. Normally, I'm not fond of the brightly-painted birds, but this one was well executed and would look great on the shelf.

Wow that one is definitely ready for the circus!

Won't be ending up in my collection but I understand your reasoning. Definitely a striking scheme! And HM already uses the colours on some of the pre-war training birds, so no reason to stop them... Well, maybe the looooong wish list of more regular ANG birds...

In keeping with my love of aggressor schemes I would be happy to see just about any of the NSAWC schemes, there's a good variety of flavors and they come in single or two seat versions....

Hey one last snide Russia vs Turkey comment, everybody wants their die-cast to have kill markings for some reason, here's your chance!!!

ArcLight, those would all be great choices. I've always loved the Navy F-16 colors.

Hardly an archivement shooting someone in the back that's not even trying to fight is it

That would be like awarding a kill to an Eagle for taking out a bi-plane

That's true! Heck there's an EF-111 that has a kill marking for a Iraqi Mirage F1EQ from Desert Storm, after it caused the Mirage to get spatial-D and maneuver into the ground...'Varks carry no defensive armament.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned any ODS F-16s... Lots of awesome nose art and some great historical missions to boot.

Also, that 50th anniversary Wild Weasel 16 is awesome!

I do like the Oklahoma bird with the Indian head and war bonnet. The City of Ft. Smith with Razorback hog is pretty snazzy too, since I already have the HM City of Ft. Smith A-10 they would make great hangar mates.

Turkish F-16s might not be so popular with some folks these days (downing of Russian Flanker) but here are some tail art shots of TuAF Vipers at 2012 Tiger Meet held in Norway...

I actually like my dragon vipers (I have 2 of them) compared to my HM viper, that one peice mould is enough for me to see past any inaccuracies the dragon models may have

On the topic of turkISh vipers, has anyone thought that they may have been trying to protect the IS Turkmen or some sort of dodgy deal that was going on between IS and turkey like a resupply or oil pipe ?

It strikes me as odd a plane gets shot down in another air space for 17 seconds when this sort of thing happens almost on a daily basis all around the world

As previously mentioned, best we keep to the topic of "Pick an F-16..." There is another post, "Russian Fighter/Bombers vs. Isis", that has caught fire re the "shootdown" - you could pose your question there and I'm sure you'll get a response or two...

Here's one more Tiger Meet Viper (2015) belonging to the TuAF and seen at Konya, Turkey... Bit much for me but I know some collectors really like them...

OK then, let's kick it up a notch... Viper suggestions must look cool, have been engaged in combat operations, and photos must show them firing missiles or dropping ordnance. I expect this should spice things up a tad. Here's my two F-16 suggestions for Hobby Master to produce - both firing Maverick AGM-65s (and "believed" to have taken part in ODS). We don't need no fancy tail art - check out the shark mouth on the first Viper

Think I'd be all over this one if Hobby Master ever decided to produce it...

Totally, COMPLETELY disagree with all this specialized tail art. Frankly I won't buy it. Total turn-off, unless it's the unit's regular markings.

As for some of the operational vipers, you cannot do much better for a livery than the Israeli falcons, of course, the USAF aggressors are very nice as well.

Latest shots from the 180th:

Over the Put-In-Bay Perry Monument, Lake Erie.

Heading towards Downtown Toledo from the bay.

Toledo Mud Hens Stadium in downtown Toledo.

Further down the Maumee River, almost to Downtown Perrysburg, canoed and flown this route myself several times.
The house I grew up in would be in the upper left corner somewhere in those trees.

Over towards Bowling Green, the university stadium and airport running along I-475, I have made hundreds of landings there buzzing the highway, VOR a few miles away.

Coming into Toledo Express Airport, what much of Ohio looks like from the air.

I´m absolutely with Jumper! I like the operational markings and would never buy such a crazy creations.

For me are all military planes first and foremost awesome fighting machines made for strikes, combats and battles, damned deadly weapons and not some f*king circus flying posters. Same with all those large animals, birds, fishes, vegetables, flowers etc. on tails and fuselages. This is military zone and not Animal Planet. That´s how I see it.

* freaking, of course

But even „stock“ operational schemes can look very tempting:

This scheme is interesting also because of rare smooth transitions from dark grey to medium grey:

I like the ´Don´t mess with Texas´ slogan

Here´s big picture of the ´Don´t mess with Texas´tail

And here are the famous Lone Stars Gunfighters, which btw. would splendidly go to Peugeots F-4E HA1935:

I'm loving those OH 180th ANG birds. I guess we'll have to keep pestering HM until they make a few.

Is that a Canadian flag near Perry's Monument? Have they invaded, and the folks of South Bass Island just don't care as long as they keep bringing the Molsons?
