Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Wow, that cuts Century Wings off at the knees with that move. Sharp move to do as both models should be strong sellers for HM.
Wonder now if CW will consider the F-117 as their next best move to produce or if they are just too tight on budget to do anything at all.
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
checks the date --- april **2***!!
happy happy joy joy. perfect prowler livery.
best announcements in ages. i think 5 prowlers and 3 vikings for me more or less if they release the expected liveries. a lot of excellent liveries for both with quite some variety, too.

Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
I suspect the 117 is a hard sell. I dont think other than the Stars and Stripes it was found in a livery ofther than basic black with a different s/n? Bravo for both announced releases though!

its a top year for HM..... having 4 new molds that are most awaited.....am definitely getting all of them....prowler, vigilante, Hawkeye andthe viking....a dream come true, finally......
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Very cool...they aren't my favorite planes but I may have to get one of each. Glad you guys are happy as well! I would definitely go for the S-3 Navy One.

Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Well, isn't that a surprise. I knew stuff was coming.........but I did not think of these two and together at the same time.
Its a rather odd situation for me, I have always been keen on the Viking, but seriously never thought that someone would release it in 1:72. But I dunno about the scheme?? As for the Prowler, well its a type that I was never that keen on, but there was one scheme that really did get the hook in me....and oddly its this one. So I guess I am pretty happy, the Prowler is a defo for my hanger, but I may wait for other schemes for the Viking.
I see lads have referred to CW with this bit of news. I agree, that it constrains CW and future toolings for them. But I am no longer convinced CW had another tooling in mind. Well see,.......but CW are gonna have to be rather clever if they want to give another tooling a go. Watch out if HM decides on the F14,...in my view that could be the end of CW.
I hope HM are not over investing in toolings. AF1 is one driver of HM's current state of investment, but until the B25 and B17 are seen, I am not convinced AF1 have really put that much of a dent into the US market. I myself are only interested in the P61. I might pick up a PLAAF model at some stage when they dump and the Soviet TU16 is a certainty, when its finally released. So I just hope HM are not going over board,.......although its a dog eat dog world these days with so many manufacturers, so it makes me wonder if HM have decided to be aggressive and isolate CW with the final objective of doing them away from the market altogether.
Maybe its not about AF1 after all?????
In saying that (and bringing in the emotive part of me)...I really would like to see some more WW2 toolings in 1:72, another nice twin would be nice.
Still awaiting the 1:48 Mmil...too.
Oh...and yes, the single seater Voodoo and two seater THUD..........are two other big ones we are all awaiting for.
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Awesome!! The only part of this that sucks is that I almost had myself convinced I could go all 1/200, but now it seals my fate that I will have to continue to piss off my wife with both scales
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Navy planes are strong right now. The Vigi, Prowler and Vike are fantastic releases, but I'm still hoping for that freakshow aircraft, the Cutlass. An interesting if not effective aircraft.

For what it's worth I'm in the US, buy lots, post infrequently and haven't picked up any AF1s. I'm all set for all four new HM toolings though.

I'm surprised there's not more love for a 2-seat skyhawk. ton of users. i'm all for a single seat voodoo, but the two-seat thud i think is rather specialist. The thud has a strong case for being in the top 5 all-time HM models; i just got the desert fox one yesterday to add to my tally. so don't get me wrong, I love it - but I think the 2-seater may simply be quite limited.
still, if they do a two-seat thud
the two seat skyhawk otoh would open up a large number of possibilities. the single seat voodoo, besides causing a flood of camo 2-seat voodoos to suddenly appear on ebay, would open up a relatively large number of liveries.
and then there's this happy fella. cocaine is a hell of a drug

Not quite sure what you mean by "specialist" regarding the EF/F105F/G. All the schemes HM released with the B/D you can get for the two sweaters. These include NMF, various desert schemes and Euro1 type schemes along with S.E. Asian schemes.
Unfortunately the G never served in USAFE, but the F did including some based at Spangdahlem.
Now whether HM decides that's it's not economical or not, I have no idea, but the variety of the F/G in scheme diversity is as prevalent as the single seater F101s.......minus the RF101 of course.

Actually, the big question for me what, if any, are the major physical differences between the EF105F, F105F and the F105G.
If there are very little or nothing substantial (or can be easily modified on the tooling) then the variety in the two seater F105 is not an impediment to the tooling in my view.

Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
Prowler! Great news! Thank you for the model, HM. However personally don´t like the VAQ-136 Gauntlets livery, so I´ll wait for the classic Navy grey-white scheme, which also nicely match to my CW A-6E Sunday Punchers. Hope this comes next:
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
theres so many squadrons that the prowler has joined........theres no hurry....i guess everyone who want this aircraft and want a specific quadron will just have to sit and wait.....
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
I know we're going to see alot of CAG style releases, but please please please don't forget the old school gull gray and white schemes with the tan radomes.
I am with Ladia's pick on the VAQ-134 Garudas. I'd prefer the "NL" tailcode when it was assigned to the Carl Vinson.
I also like the ones with the radioactive symbol on the nose...
I really hope for an S-3 from VS-29 Dragonfires when it was assigned to the USS Carl Vinson in the 80's.. It will be interesting to see how HM will keep this one from sitting on its tail... I am going to guess that the foldable part of the tail will be plastic.
The next thing that has me a bit worried.... is the price! If little F-6 F hellcats are selling for $69, and F-4's are selling for close to $80 USD in 2014, I really doubt we'll see these models selling for under $100 USD.

Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
OK, as requested, the email with request for Prowler in classic US NAVY grey/white livery has just been sent to William. I have explicitly mentioned BuNo 158541 and 158547, with later option for MARINE VMAQ-2 Playboys.
Have also pointed out to William the importance of compressor fans in intake ducts, which are on Prowlers really visible, asking him not to forget or omit this important detail as unfortunately happened to HM Phantoms.
Re: Hobby Master EA-6B Prowler and S-3B Viking Announced
If William will be aware how important it is for us collectors, I believe he will take care. On Prowler it is really visible.
And if Century Wings can do this, why not Hobby Master?
I would actually expect some reply like: compressors in EA-6B intakes? Already arranged, guys.
