New Gemini 1/72 Release for April

Gemini dropped some hints about their April releases. Of the 17 models, only one will be 1/72. This was the hint:

"In 1/72, you use this to train, for one day you hope to fly jets in the rain."

Any guesses?

I think it has to be. I don't believe that GJ has made any trainers yet. A lot of possiblities- T-34, T-28, T-37, T-6 II and many more

Re: New Gemini 1/72 Release for April

T37 would be my guess.

If it is...big news for 1:72.

The "Tweet" would be awesome.

Is it confirmed this is even a military model ? Are we assuming it is coz it's 73 scale ?

Assuming simply because they didn't say 1/72 GA, though it certainly could be. I'd be happy either way as long as it's a new tool

Most learn in prop such as the C-172 which they are already making. So I would guess the tweet or T-38 although Falcon was making that. IFR could be in any but I would guess the side by side tweet as well.

I would guess that Gemini will use their existing C-172 tooling for a USAF T-41.

If thats the case....a bit of let down, for me anyway.

Could be. Their last 1/72 release was a C172 so I'm hoping it's something different, but you could be right.

Re: New Gemini 1/72 Release for April

That seems likely I guess. I was hoping for a new tooling like a T37.

Oh well, maybe next time. :)

Actually there is nothing in the hint that says the 1/72 Release will even be Military.

Dan

Not at all. However, the fact that it says training for jets made me think that it was likely a military step up trainer such as a Texan II or something.

Jets in the rain made me think first gen trainer, ie T-37 or a Hunter T7.

Yeah, or BC, but there isn't a trainer squadron (or a jet squadron for that matter) based at CFB Comox. The Canadian trainer squadrons are in the prairies where it doesn't really rain much.

It's a C172. Gemini could not be more boring and predictable this year if they tried.

Southern Oh, flown around there myself quite a bit, seen them on the tarmac. Nice livery scheme, quite a few people who have trained on them, so I expect they will have a good consumer purchasing audience. Sporty's also has a great flight store, expect to see these listed in them along with their flight gear in their catalog. Purchased quite a bit of my flight gear from them myself.
I was hoping for a new mold myself but this is a pleasant model to see being produced.

Got the fresh news!

The new 1/72 Gemini tooling for April will be:

iconic transporter....

...or first-gen Eagle trainer:
(including diecast-punched pilot and retractable undercarriage)
