"is no more", "has ceased to be", "bereft of life, it rests in peace"
I can't help but read that in John Cleese's voice in my head.
Could someone take a photo of their NASA our Mountain Home Eagles next to a couple of other HM models? If the really aren't as blue as they appear, seeing them side by side with other models will help show that...
Seeing this pic then the colours aren't the sore-point: it's the exhaust nozzles... Hahaha
nah... the sore point is not hitting the jackpot time and time again coz then i couldn't care less what nozzles or tint the models have and just buy them all
and guys... you may want to revisit the witty releases. some of them are excellent, canopy shape notwithstanding. go check out the detailing on their idf eagles. i must say i was floored. yes, they're that good (either that or i'm easily satisfied)
HMs shape also has some flaws. The canopy bulge somehow just seems wrong. Also the nozzles just look bad. For the price they are asking for it, it's just not enough.
Why should it cost that much? I don't ask for top notch nozzles but I'm sure they could have done a better job. It costs already what, twice as much as a witty F-15?

Witty went bankrupt - so no longer a competitor.
HM is not twice as expensive. Witty is 20% cheaper.
As much as I would like HM to make that exact IDF model Dan posted above, I will absolutely wait for HM to make it.
The HM model is a great mold, just waiting for Hm to pop out the livery schemes and o do them justice. Right now, I have the first HM Israel model, if my budget allows soon, I will jump on the first HM F-15 model as well because it's a great piece. When HM stops adding color effects and stick with the actual non blue USAF livery schemes, I will be jumping to make the purchases on them as well.
witty f-15s are now in the $50 range on ebay, but this is misleading. that price is mostly driven by the fact that a few sellers have decided to play the 'long game' and not discount much knowing that witty is gone and HMs aren't getting any cheaper. in practice, and this is even quite recently, witty f-15s were much chepaer. i dont think i ever paid more than around GBP 20 for one, and for my favorite, the early eglin's gorilla's one (fixed gear) i think i paid around GBP 12. I bought the edwards one in a combo with the f-16 for gbp 15 at a show.
i had the EG one side by side with the HM tiger meet one. they displayed quite well together. the only f-15 in my collection that doesnt look good is the dragon SJ with the tinted canopy.

whoa... that's a lot of f15s! would love to see that nest of eagles in all their glory! must certainly be a sight for sore eyes...
I bought the F15I a few weeks back. If they keep up with the quality of their F15 models I may end up with a whole nest of Eagles.
not after you start reading the threads on their other models, you won't. that idf with its popeyes will be alone in that nest... with perhaps the japanese twins.
I would have bought more eagles by now if there has been any good ones. But for now, only the IDF eagle is in my display. Wanted a NASA and USAF F-15 badly for display but HM has screwed the pooch on them so far. Once HM decides to realistically paint them and not get artistic, I will jump at the purchase. Sad because I would have bought two or three more by now if they had painted them correctly.
Actually at the time a blue-white-red flag would have been correct (as long as it didn't sport a socialist red star). In 1999 NATO was fighting against (the State Union of) Serbia and Montenegro. Some time in the mid 2000s Montenegro and Serbia became separate form each other and then Serbia changed its flag to the red-blue-white one of today.

But...if u check the jet kill mark...the color order is blue-red-white... Not blue white red..
Good to hear it Dan, I already had a slight feeling the photos by HM were a bit misleading. Will have to check it in the store, but it looks so much better already in your pic.
I think it looks pretty good. The contrast isn't as high. When I flew at Ailine X half of our fleet looked different do to a poor paint scheme and weather fading. This looks good enough to get. I love Eagles and I think this will be one that "I'd wished I'd gotten" if I pass it up. That being said I need to start narrowing my focus for space. Maybe time to start unloading some different models.
The blue tint on USAF F-15s is a fact, and the picture of the model (not by HM) shows it decently but it still can be better. Freshly painted F-15s will show that tint with no doubt.
Other than the wrong color on the body and two flags, the radar cone should be in another type of color. Personally, I do not like HM F-15 about the seam lines along the front canopy, nozzle, no turbine fans, less stencils, and the assembly etc. HM F-15 series is just like low profile model. HM did make lots of good models in the past, but not recently.

I'd be interested in seeing it photographed on a white background, the blue background is possibly affecting the contrast.
That said if Dan can see the difference / improvement then others will too & more of these will be appearing in collectors hands over the coming days & weeks
