I,m not sure I want to do this but I've been thinking about getting an f-35. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one?

The 1:1 version made by Lockheed Martin is pretty neat! I'd get one myself but it's way out of my price range.

Me too, but it won't fit in my display case and purchasing a hanger is way out of the question.

People love it or hate it. I, personally like the way it displays. It has raised panels which throws a lot of people off. On a display with other Gen 5 fighters though I think it looks good. I'm actually looking forward to the F-35B.

I recommend the HA4401 since that is the squadron whos primary goal is flight testing the F-35 at Edwards AFB

Hobby Master HA4401 - F-35A Lightning II JSF Diecast Model, #07-0744: The Flying Mule

Some places have it sold out, retails around $79, if you can't find it, let me know, I do have a brand new spare. I can sell it for $75 shipped in US. Let me know, thanks.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still on the fence so I'll see what the F-35B looks like.

I have a Hobby Master version in my collection and like it a lot.

Personally I think the criticism of the bumps is overdone a bit.

On the other hand... Members here can get upset if there is a wrong marking or color or lines are out of position on ay other model.

With the Hobby Master F-35, there are HUGE bumps all over the model that absolutely are not on the real aircraft, but because it is the best of the worst available, they are accepting the mediocre model as fine.
And because there is enough support of that, the next version of the F-35B probably will have the same honking flaws on it.

Guess it comes down to what you willing to swallow. I will pass on this one. HM could definitely do this correctly if they wanted to.

Yes, you are right, and this is why I don't have any F35...

I'd get an F-4, F-15 and F-16 from HM. Added up that also makes F-35. And you'll have some nice looking models!

I was one who heavily advocated HM take the leap to make an F-35 but... I wanted them to make a GOOD F-35. I also want to display the latest in my collection all the current Air Force aircraft in the inventory. I understand getting an HM piece because of that want but if I am going to display one, I would rather go with a good plastic model to look nice next to my other good die cast rather than a bad die cast one. It takes away from the other good pieces.

With other collectibles, I have gone with bad pieces and then upgraded but in this case, because there are so many other great models on the market that stressed budgeted, I rather spend my money on other great models than make there purchase on a flawed HM F-35. To each their own, I understand some wanting to fill that niche in their collections. I can wait until something good comes out. There are too many other good models I want as well that I'd rather make the leap on and make the best on my limited budget.

If I had money to burn, then I probably would not mind popping one of these in my collection, but my funds are tighter than I would like and I want to make the best on my purchases.

Totally agree with you. And since we'll be looking at F-35s for the next 3 or 4 decades, plenty time for other decent models to turn up.

Thanks to all that replied, especially Tripoli and Richard from Rotterdam. You both put the value of a dollar and quality into perspective. For now I"ll pass until the quality improves or prices go down. Thanks again

Funny, I feel the same way about FOV's Osprey.

In 10 years time (if this hobby survives) the F-35 will be the only model released

I'll wait till they "dump"

i am agreed with tripoli, this diecast is not worth a buy, thats not a good job from HM, the raised panels are wrong and ....in same colorlike the whole jet, in origin they are in a lighter grey....

what was the last mission this aircraft played an active role in? perhaps it's worth waiting for that operational scheme?

Tomcatter, it's still playing an active roll in "Mission Delay" and "Operation Moneypit".

not to mention "operation (cost) overrun"... and the "mission (cost) recovery" targeted at international air defence procurement.

No actual pics up yet, just the art.
This is a chance for HM to make modifications and make the model correctly. If they don't, it's through stupid stubbornness knowing the flak they received for the current model. They could have fixed that as well but decided to go forward knowing there was issues. Given the reception, for them not to correct this model would be beyond foolish knowing they face the same reaction if not more for making the same mistake again.

Just saw the pictures, yep, Hm stupidly went ahead with the same braille. Defined stupidity as knowing you are doing something wrong and still doing it.
Sad to see HM not trying to get the second one right, frankly deeply disappointing to watch them do this.
