Default Something of interest to a few of us who like certain 1950s jets...

While generally trying not to be a rumour-monger I heard a juicy one yesterday from a very substantial source in the know, that a certain flying aircraft museum which has worked with a certain diecast manufacturer in the past to create a couple of models of a certain aircraft much beloved in a certain country (and seemingly very popular elsewhere too) is very seriously thinking about contacting said diecast manufacturer about releasing an, as yet, unreleased version of said aircraft for next Christmas season. Said museum is currently benefiting from quickly selling off the remnants of a different aircraft model produced by a different diecast manufacturer and looking ahead to something exciting for next year!

Sadly for the hoards of fans including Richard the Ground Pig's Uncle Bill and cousin Mike, I have to confirm that the much desired subject is not the universally lusted after Avon-powered Sabre. (As opposed to the not-so universally lusted after Avon Lady!)

Cheers indeed,
Roy

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum commissioned Hobby Master to make two editions of the Avro Arrow and is currently selling off the remnants of the Corgi supplied Lancaster VR-A.

Sounds like there could be a CF-100 Canuck on the way!

Interesting....I wonder how CWHM enjoyed their experience with the Hound and the Lancaster. I was hoping that it may pave the way for a RCAF Halifax (am I allowed to talk about the RCAF Halifax in this thread......just confirming since the new regime is in town ), which is desperately needed in my view.

At anyrate, it appears (I assume) they are now heading back to HM to get the Canuck out and about.

10 out of 10 for CWHM, they are quite the organisation prying unusual Canadian (unusual Canadian stuff in the context of the Hobby) Warbirds out of the manufacturers for collectors.

My Arrow (oops, sorry another different aircraft in the thread ) is a stunning piece of Diecast and one of my favourite models in my collection.

The Canuck would be more than welcome.

I am curious though on whether CWHM made any money from the Arrow and Lanc. I do hope so. If they did not....then clearly the CWHM is for the Canadian Aviation Enthusiast first.

As I say....10 out of 10.

Question I know the CAC Sabre was thrown around before, but just to calm me ( i can't wait to see these) is anyone planning on making these any time soon in 1:72 or are any available. I'm trying to build a collection of post-war jets such as

- An RAAF Canberra
- An RAAF Meteor
- A CAC Sabre
- A GDR Mig-15
- A Luftwaffe CL-13 Sabre

I already have a RAF Meteor and a Me-262

edit: I know some of these are not post war but you get the idea early jets

RAAF Meteor already done by Corgi in 1:72. Inbox me if you want to buy one with your Xmas money, or alternatively, hang about and watch out for one from UK eBay.

The Luftwaffe Sabre is made by Corgi, and Easy Models.

The rest have not yet been made. The RAAF Canberra is a popularly requested model from Corgi, and one day I really hope to see it made.

Apologies to Royd for the thread hijack. Ace I think this would be better as a separate thread. Alternatively, have a go at the search function, it's actually a pretty accurate tool for looking up info.

Nice thing about the -100 is there are more than a few good liveries.

Just one addition to the list: fortunately, the MiG-15 with GDR (DDR NVA) markings is already made by HM.
HMs MiG-15 is an impressive but underrated little jet.

Classy to apologize but no real need, we're talkin' 50s jets here, right?! The lack of an RAAF Canberra from the pooch is an even bigger head-scratcher than the lack of an RCAF Halifax. I thought their proposed Argentine Canberra would be a big seller too; surely many of their regular customers remember the Falklands. As all us "colonials" (Frack that!) will attest the Pooch has completely dropped the ball with their livery selection! I'd buy an RAAF Canberra in a heart beat and I have the Airfix kit ready for a build in those markings if I can ever find the time...

You lettin' something you know slip there Dan? (I dearly hope so; I'd love a Clunk) What I heard involved an unreleased version of the already released model. As most of you have figured out from my vag hints, the museum is CWHM. Personally, I'd like to see RL-205 with the dayglo rudder, but I don't think even RL-206 is off the table! (I pointed out the need for Iroquois after-burner cans on RL-206). I thought the mold was to be retired after RL-201 but that doesn't seem so in fact!

Fingers crossed as nothing's written in stone just yet.

Roy

CF-100 would be extremely welcome, my vote is for one with the rocket pods on the wingtips. Also in metal finish (there is one at the Edmonton museum in camo, just doesn't seem right for this airframe).

Can't say if they made money on the Lanc, but at $199 CAD retail, with only a museum membership discount offered, it's not cheap or for the casual buyer. Despite that they are selling, albeit more slowly than the Harvard IV. Picked mine up in person about 3 weeks ago.

The Arrow was an instant hit, highly sought after by most avid RCAF collectors.

Very friendly gift shop staff (although they didn't know VRA had a prior release...).

Not sure about the Lancs, but the first two Arrow models from CWHM sold out quickly and paid for a lot of carrots! Plenty of people in this part of the world who don't collect diecast or even airplane paraphernalia of any sort but who have one or other or both of CWHMs previous CF-105 releases.
