Default Die Luftwaffe! 1/72

Hello All

What would you all recommend for 1/72 diecast German Luftwaffe aircraft.

ME-109 E-3/F-3/G-6

ME-110C

ME-410

FW-190 would prefer one 'A', and D', the 'F' is optional

ME-262 - someone recommended Corgi y/n?

JU-87 - I saw on Youtube HM JU-87G HM Tank-Buster which looks really nice but I really want the DiveBomber version. I know FoV makes a JU-87B but the HM looks MUCH better.

JU-88 - Corgi has a Torpedo Bomber variant coming out which looks really nice.

DO-17

HE-111

HE-129

JU-52

Recommendations?

There are about a dozen other German planes available in diecast form in 1:72nd, not mentioned in your list. These include the BF-108, TA-152, Arado 196, Arado 234 jet bomber, DO-335, DO-215, HS-123, HS-126, ME-163 ME-210 and HE-162. Except for the DO-215 ( Corgi ), BF-109F ( Gemini ), and the BF-109Gs ( Corgi and Dragon )these all come from the "bargain" lines and have issues.

Taking your list, in a number of cases Corgi is the only option. These are the JU-88 ( including the day fighter version ), the DO-17Z, The JU-52 and the HE-111 ). As for the ME-410, so far there isn't one.

Of the others, I would agree that Corgi is the best bet---as of now---for the BF-109E-4, the FW-190A, the JU-87B ( the model has no wing guns or pitot head ) and the ME-262A and B. As for the ME-110C, there is no really good version out there. The Corgi "C" is a hybrid and some models have very poor nose gun arrays among other faults. The Hobby Master "E" and "G" series is worth considering but these models have very poor mottling and other problems. Regarding the HS-129, the only option is from IXO and its successors but this is a "cheapie" production with its landing gear doors molded in the "open" position. Regarding the BF-109F, your only option is Gemini while Dragon and Corgi must be considered as "G" candidates.

Finally, at this point there isn't a good FW-190D to buy. The Dragon version is missing the pilot's head rest, is flat winged and has no provision for a wheels-up tail wheel. The Witty version has a tiny pilot figure cemented onto his seat and lacks detail.

IMO corgi g's (the new ones) are some of the best out there, if you want a G-6 with cannon pods then alfred saraus is the only one out there BUT and this is a big but, it has some major issues. I have it and i like it, but i still see those flaws and cry a little everytime

The cannons were installed backward on this model but if you sand down the "bumps" and cut of a piece off the tip of each cannon, they look OK. Other issues are the gaps in the tail area, which can be filled by a mix of white glue and paint and, more difficult, the incorrect spiral on the spinner. I redid mine with this result:

My humble Luftwaffe fleet consists of the following. All are by Dragon Wings (Warbirds) and I have been very happy with them all. The Corgis may be better, but I don't think I paid more than $30 for any of these and Dragons are often on Ebay at very reasonable prices. They do not have swastikas on the tails, but they can be added with 1:72 decal sets quite easily if you wish to.

Messerschmitt Me262A-1a (Swallow)
Focke-Wulf FW-190A-8 (Shrike)
Messerschmitt Me109G-2
Junkers Ju87D-5 (Stuka)

There is also a decent Heinkel He-219 Uhu model made by Warmaster.
