FOV is making the Osprey is 1:72 scale....but the question is whether is going to turn out nice....I have been disappointed by FOV before, hopefully they don't do it again. Worst case....this Sky Classic smaller version would be better than the larger counterpart.

Mine arrived 2 days ago from ARD. Great seller, super fast delivery, just 5days!
However the packaging material provided by Sky Classics was not up to standard!
One blade broke off,the fuel probe bent. Not a total disaster. Managed to straighten the f/p
and reattach the blade with a tiny drop of superglue. Looks great now!

Yeah, I seriously don't understand what they were thinking when they designed it that way. Could it not have just been a slot/groove and slipped on? Really?

Sorry to bump such an old thread. Does anyone know what the item number was for the Sky Classics CV-22?

Item number SC176 displayed on Aviation Retail Direct is 352SOG RAF Midenhall and ADR sent me an email that its 12+ months out from delivery. I really want one of these though with the 58SOW Kirtland AFB like in these pictures!

Thank you!

I visited the ARD Hillingdon store around Christmas last year when I was in the UK and saw a 1/200 Osprey on display and, although I don't recall the scheme, I do remember it was very nice.

Just a note about ARD and waiting - the waits do seem like a long time, but the models end up being manufactured and you do end up with it, in what actually ends up feeling like less time than it seemed at the start.

I speak from direct, recent experience here: I have had a model (a Douglas C-133 Cargomaster) I pre-ordered a while back they emailed me literally yesterday to say was ready. It must be a good few months since I placed the order, but the time has flown and my model is now ready

I have a small, but growing, collection of military 1/200s and these ARD models are some of my favourites - not just in the scale either, but even overall..

Woah that Cargomaster is cool! ADR has a few I am willing to spend the cash on. I just dont have confidence in shipping 12+ months out, I travel a lot for work and high chance I have to relocate in the next year. Barely know where I am going to be 2 months out let alone 12. It would be a logistical nightmare for me and the supplier.

How it works is you just register interest essentially - they don't take a deposit or anything, but your order is recorded.

When the model is manufactured one will be put aside for you, and you will be contacted with a PP invoice. At this point if you have changed your mind they simply ask you to tell them - all their stock sells out, fast, so they will just list it on the website and display it in the shop in the knowledge it will sell anyway.

Assuming you do want it, you then pay the PP invoice. As with any PP invoice you can specify a delivery address when you pay. You will also get an email notifying you the model is ready from one of the guys there; you can also tell them a delivery address by replying to that email.

If it means recalculating P&P you can work that out then, and the PP invoice updated and reissued.

The customer service is excellent, and all the guys who work there I have met, spoken to or dealt with via email have been really helpful.

When I first ordered a model and was told it could be a year I was pretty unsure about it, but I wanted the model so I thought why not? I took a punt, and while I am still waiting for that one, I have bought a few others in the meantime (I am confident it's going to be produced again one day, and I know I will still want it).

The C-133 I ordered several months ago, and here it is, together with another model I wanted too

The delay is due to the way they are made, which is spincasting with hand assembly, as it only allows for very small runs and is labour intensive.

It's obviously up to you what you want to do, but I just thought you might be interested to hear my experience as it took me a while to get used to the way these models work in production and sales terms. I have no link to them, other than satisfied customer BTW, so rest assured I'm not a shill

No worries.

I have a shelf of them, I'm going to post some pics soon as I have nearly finished setting up a couple of cabs; you can see what the models look like then if interested, though not the Osprey specifically.

I can second TKER76 in saying dealing with ARD when buying Sky Classics is easy and very pleasant. I have 15 Sky Classics and yes they do take time to arrive after orders but so worth it. I ordered the B-1b from Sky Classics as it was the only one in 200 scale at the time but cancelled it when the much cheaper Herpa version was announced. Regret that as the SC version with tampo cockpit windows (although fixed wings) look much better as the plastic windows on the Herpa are atrocious. ARD were happy to can this order. As for the cargomaster, I have the dayglo one, love anything dayglo as watching a transporter landing in the coldest places on earth is my dream which I had been lucky enough to do a few years back in the far north of Alaska (however it was a C-17 not a Cargomaster doing touch and go's at snow swept Eielson AFB). We ended up so close to it landing it nearly took our heads off! It was the closest to an actual flying C-17 I have ever been and was the absolute highlight of the 7 week trip. Ahhh the memories and I would have died happy! My next mission to actually fly in one! Has anyone done that? So yeah buy the cargomaster it's mint!

I too will echo all of tker76's and Emu21557's comments. Shipping and customer service is top notch. One model I ordered took almost 2 years to show up [they told me as much when I ordered] and was worth the wait. I have another that was ordered over a year ago and it is still showing a a pre orderable item The limited production size AND uniqueness of some of the models mean a) you pay more and b) if you wait, it sells out and you have to wait until they do another 'production' run.
