Default Hobby Master F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Coming Soon

As mentioned on Hawkone's website, a F-35 JSF is coming soon.

Not sure if it will be an A, B, or C Model.

Dan

Hard as it is to believe apparently there is a rumor going around concerning
future tooling of the F-15 and the F-18E/F. Note he also mentions an F-35. One
collector was concerned enough that he sent an email and here is the reply from
William.

"F-15E will be the one after F-35. It is planned indeed.
We will also make the F-18E/F in 2014 earliest."

Smart decision by HM to be the first to do this F-35 as other manufacturers doesnt even attempt to do it......it will surely sell....even if a diecast collector gets only 1.....there are thousands out there waiting.....thanks for the info, DAN...

I just hope there are no major changes in the airframe. Even if there are, I think there is enough interest in the program to warrant many liveries of the operational testing squadrons.

Some news updates: 5th generation F-35 stealth fighter makes headway | Fox News

However, I also read this, which is total BS: "Even without the valve, the F-35 design is “far more survivable than any of the legacy tactical aircraft we have ever fielded,” Kendall wrote. The F-35 is replacing the F-16, A-10 Thunderbolt, F-18A/C/D models and AV-8B Harrier aircraft. "

Lockheed F-35 Should Get Safety Valve, Official Says - Bloomberg

More survivable than the A-10. Yea right. Maybe due to low observability, but you try to have an F-35 do a CAS mission like the Hog currently provides, and hundreds of millions of dollars are going to be dropping from the sky.

Happy to see HM taking it on as well the Newer F-18's as I want the current inventory aircraft on my display shelves and I want a great company that can do a good job such as Hm or CW.

Word directly from William posted on the Die Cast Hangar Pub is that HM will be doing this, the F-15 and F-18 super hornets as the next three new molds with no other new models on the table at this time.

So the model will be released 27 years before the aircraft goes in to service and joins the fleets of the world's air forces that have committed to buying it.

The F-35 is a very bold choice. I wonder if it will be in the prototype colours with all the national flags down the side. I suspect it would be a popular seller.

Finally some news on this one! Oh GOD YES! Despite the many issues that this jet has (and it has A LOT) I can not wait for this one to be released by HM. I would prefer if they did a air force version of it first to go with my F-22s. Wouldn't mind if HM did the production versions that are hitting the US air force now. Apparently the US Navy has also begun to receive its F-35 plans too. The Grim Reaper VFA-121 scheme below looks great!

Very promising airplane, although it is failing to meet expectations. I'm looking forward to the F-15s though!

Anyway what solutions are they looking at to solve the short tail problem on the Navy F-35s?

I don't know.... Though I'm Canadian, I find those livery schemes for a Canadian F-35 to be pretty dicey. I'd rather go with the more conservative American livery/paint schemes for now.

Wow finally! But I find it weird that it will come out first before the f-15 considering the f-15 has been announced ages ago.

Upgraded F-35 Block 2A Joint Strike Fighters delivered to the U.S. Air Force. Still much to do, though. May 11, 2013
Posted by Jacek Siminski in : F-35 , 6comments

The brand new Joint Strike Fighters reached the 58th Fighter Squadron on May 6, 2013. The difference between the mentioned plane and the older ones is the fact that it already incorporates the Block 2A avionics software and will start flying in 2-3 weeks.

F-35 close up

26 F-35As (including 2 spares) are going to be a part of the Squadron in Eglin by the beginning of 2014. Some of them will support a training squadron that will be stationed at Luke AFB and is scheduled to receive its first JSFs in January 2014.

The new software introduces interesting capabilities.

First of all, it allows the pilot to use all six thermal imaging cameras of the EO-DAS AN/AAQ-37 optical set.

The purpose of the device is to detect and track the enemy aircraft and provide early warning messages about the launched missiles.

Nevertheless it is not integrated with the on-helmet-sight yet even if it allows displaying weather info.

In spite of the latest upgrade, the F-35A is still restricted. It can’t conduct IMC flights, night flights, aerobatics (have you ever seen JSF on an Air Show?!) and formation take-offs and landings. Even if it is in a post-prototype stage of development the F-35 is still not a fully capable fighters, and it evokes mixed feelings among the Lockheed Martin employees, as The Aviationist reported earlier.

However, the Block 2A software extends the F-35′s capabilities, because it lets the pilot simulate the launch of AIM-120 missiles. Still, the g-limit for the airframe is 5,5 G that is quite ridiculous, taking into account the objectives the JSF is designed to face. Hopefully the g-limit will be lifted soon.

The training ground attack missions are practically the only thing JSF feels good at, as it allows for dropping laser guided GBU-12‘s and GBU-31 JDAMs.

The 58th Fighter Squadron already operates 9 F-35A Block 1B, which were used to train USAF instructors and test pilots. The ultimate number of trained pilots is to reach 45.

The initial problems with the Lockheed-Martin fighter jet are not an issue for some of the customers. Just recently Israel has transferred $20,1 million for the jets that they are going to buy. The money is to fund additional 2 planes to the 6 already existing in the order. They are to be a part of LRIP – Low Rate Initial Production.

Out of the remaining planes of LRIP VIII (45 examples) 29 are to stay in the US (19 F-35A’s – for USAF and 6 VTOL F-35B’s for the Marine Corps and 4 F-35C’s for US Navy). The remaining 19 planes are to be delivered to the customers as follows: 4 F-35B’s for UK, 2 F-35A for Norway, 4 F-35A for Japan and two abovementioned examples for Israel.

I dont care for the F35 but good to hear an F15, its been awhile. I would love for someone to create an F15 suggestion topic for HM to use what paint schemes and what squadron markings because I want a real good one first release, if its a boring and ugly marking I wont add an F15 to my collection till they get a nice one

Oh and the price for the model is USD$2,116,287,449.95 each.
Part proceeds to go the F-35 retirement fund scheduled to commence in 2014.

The first one is just a mock-up and the second is an artist's rendition. Nobody knows for sure what the RCAF livery will actually look like, but it's likely that the second photo is pretty close. If so, it'll look sharp next to my CF-18s if they release a Canadian version.

That's a great idea! I would love to see the F-15E Strike Eagle first, then the F-15C.

That's funny . The F-35 is a bit of a contradiction isn't it? It appears bulky, but with a speed of Mach 1.6, boom! I will get one eventually.

No need for an F-35 when there are planes like the A-10, F-15, F/A-18, or the F-16!

Well, if you fit wings to a big engine, you can make anything fly. See this Soviet "Beauty" for instance:

Attachment 83933

The Fiddler. Well, might actually be better to look at than the F-35...

All of the above will be obsolete museum pieces once the F-35 enters service.

Especially given that the Russians (T-50) and Chinese (J-20) are producing their own Stealth Aircraft.

Hobby Master's F-35 will definitely join my collection.

Its unfortunate that this may be the case. I just don't see the point of the F-35 or even the F-22. But that is just my opinion.

But I like where HM is going with making aircraft that we haven't seen yet.

We (Canada) have not bought the F-35 yet. Plus Lockheed Martin has announced that the sale price has increased $20 million from $65 to $85 million per aircraft. See interesting article at the CBC Website.

Lockheed Martin launches Canadian PR campaign for F-35 - Politics - CBC News

I have no doubt that the latest generation aircraft is the best one to purchase. Have always supported the theory of buying the best available equipment for our military service. But as usual it will come down to what is best for Canada politically, price, not what's best for the troops.

If Canada does buy the F-35 the model will be sitting on my self.

In my opinion, these will price themselves out of the market unless you have a world scale economic revision or a major war that frankly makes it a absolute need. I think you will see more programs like the F-15 Silent Eagle project and other 4.5 generational designs surge, but the scales of economy as it sits now means that military powers will have to deal with high needs in infrastructure and aircraft inventory with too little resources and it just takes one large event to redefine the future of military power organizations.

BUT, it is a reality that there is too much of an investment to see these just fade away. I could see this program die like the F-22 program did but for now, these birds are in production and they are entering into theaters in decent numbers for the moment. And just like the F-22, money will continue to be thrown a them as it is too costly to just abandon yet. But the good platform F-117's are currently being torn apart and scrapped and good F-16's are now drone fodder, so there never is an absolute written life expectancy in new production aircraft.

As for what it means in the model field, its a reality so that means collectors are going to want a good representation on the shelves. And given the world instability, there is a good chance you will be seeing them in use, which means many collectors and military enthusiast will want to see them on their shelves asap. I know I do.

Frankly, I believe the next true step is drone technology although the incredible dangers of taking a human out of the cockpit will rear several ugly weakness in the future as well making that the answer to failing economic scalable systems.

I am looking forward to this new mould and hopefully HM will release a non-operational Canadian colours like:

All the enemy needs to stop UAVs would be a good ECM system. Jam the frequencies used to pilot the aircraft, and it becomes useless. Nobody has yet to come up with a satisfactory autonomous system that can evade, defend and attack.

I've been talking with William lately and he's committed to having Hobby Master release their first F-35 diecast model by the end of the year. So I suppose you can either expect the F-35 to come out in the fall sometime between October and December. Meanwhile more F-22s are on the way including one I suggested. Heh heh heh......

The F-35 has to be done in 1/72 . . . to sit along the F-22.
The US government will have the F-35 operational if they see that we have them displayed in our shelves!! : )

I'm sorry to say it but I have been emailing Hobbymaster hounding them to make a JSF/F-35 diecast model. I finally got a response and they said they would put it into consideration. That was earlier this year. I emailed them again and they said it is in their production studio now and that it should be up for sale by the end of the year!
I'm so glad. The F-35 is one of my favorite airplanes!

Yeah thanks for posting that. But we've known that for a few weeks now. Its still unclear what they will be releasing though? Which fighter wing, which air force base this one will be stationed at? Likely going to be an F-35A variant though.

I would say it would be the F-35A first and maybe the B since both are already in operation test squadron, though I would also say that this mould will not be done much until around 2015 onwards when the F-35 would enter full US service, and we wont see much of other nations unless HM decided to do fantasy livery until 2016-2017 . Not a big fan of fantasy livery since the final livery usually differ quite a lot.

Well, I would guess they would be releasing the A variant from Edwards or from the 422nd Test and Evaluation Wing at Nellis AFB. I hope that they release the 422nd first because that airplane looks better than the on eat Edwards.

First with a 1/72 model perhaps, but my Franklin Mint 1/48 JSF has been proudly displayed around my house for a very long time. I guess I'll still have to get the HM version though to display with 1/72 ground equipment and other aircraft in that scale. TW

It's a shame the Russians don't get enough love cause they have really nice combat aircraft, particularly the Sukhois! I would love to see a release of the Su-35BM or even the Su-37 Terminator #711 armed demonstrator aircraft

Another vote from me! And those cammo schemes - what a change from the dreary greys we get so much of, authentic though they may be...TW

Huh? When did the HM F-35 thread turn into a Russian jet fighter aircraft thread? And here I was thinking that we had some new promotional artwork from HM courtesy of ACPilot. Yeah the Sukhoi bureau does some really wonderful planes. SU-27 Flankers and Su-35 Terminators are really nice. I wonder if HM will ever do them in the future?

Ha! When people got bored of waiting for a model that may or may not be released of a jet that may or may not get put into service, I guess.

Haha, that's right! The thought of a model F-35 to me seems like a waste of production money really. This aircraft, as Zendocon said, may not even get put into service plus, it's too plain (not to be confused with "plane" lol ) to even be considered a good model especially when you take into consideration all the higher detailed, higher quality models out there that collectors can get their hands on. If HM decides on producing some F-15s as future releases then they should go with that and replace the F-35 with, as I said, the Su-27/35/37!

100th jet in final production and 144 F-35s to be stationed at Luke AFB for training seems like a significant enough number to warrant a diecast model.

I totally agree!

I can see me buying only one of this model. I can't see it being a commercial success. More like a F-22. Only 13,400 units produced in 8 releases to date! Certainly no barn burner! Barely pays for the tooling.

A few Sukhois would be nice but I personally prefer the MiGs. I'd love to have the MiG-29M OVT demonstrator in 1/72. Cool livery.
