The Never Ending Collection. Simply remarkable, the sheer quantity and variety of models you've acquired.

I have an issue with most of Falcon's models, but the Panther and Sabre Dog are excellent. I just wish they would release more Panthers in standard operational schemes. I'm not a fan of the gaudy nose art (shark's teeth) on many fighter releases. I have the Pensacola one, but the grey color isn't the same as the classic blue.

Default My Military Aircraft Collection

On Saturday, the new Air Commander F-4 Phantom arrived, and I decided that it's time to change my display a little bit.
I think since nearly two years, I didn't display all my F-4's (more than 50) at the same time.
Allways just some parts in themes like Navy aircrafts, RAF theme, Vietnam F-4's or so.

But to do this I have to store some others and I decided that the Helicopters must go back to the boxes.
But before doing this I'll show you some pictures of my helicopter fleet.

And now some more details :

It's a Mix of Corgi, Hobby Master, Altaya, Amercom, New Ray and Witty !

Enjoy !!

That's a lot of whirlybirds. I thought you were missing some UH-60 series, but I see two hiding in there. They aren't as impressive to me as other helicopter models for some reason.

I'm eager to see the spooks out and proudly displayed, but what a cost! I feel the pain as well, whenever I rebox a model, it just feels wrong.

Hello Skinner67,

your're right. It's always a hard decission to choose the models which should go back to storage.
But on the other side it's always a great fun to see the planes again you have stored for some months.

And I think this is the problem of every serious collector.
After some time you can't show everything what you have collected at the same time, thats not only the problem on diecast models.

But stop collecting or put some to storage for some time is the only decission you have - and which collector can really stop ???

Regards
Robert

The helicopters are in their boxes now and the Phantoms are ready to unpack.

But this work will start tomorrow, because my wife wants to go to the cinema this evening.
So hopefully I can show you the F-4's all together early next year.
During the waiting time here are some patches relating to the F-4.

The German F-4 Wings

Jagdbombergeschwader 35 - Fighter Bomber Wing 35

Jagdbombergeschwader 36 - Fighter Bomber Wing 36

Jagdgeschwader 71 Richthofen - Fighter Wing 71 Richthofen

Jagdgeschwader 72 - Fighter Wing 72

Jagdgeschwader 73 - Fighter Wing 73

Jagdgeschwader 74 Mölders - Fighter Wing 74 Mölders

Luftwaffenausbildung USA - Air Force Training USA

Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 61 - Flight Test Center 61 Manching

I wish everyone a very good and successful new year -
and hope that there will be some great surprises for us in the diecast market in 2014.

Best regards,

Robert

Default My Military Aircraft Collection - Phantom Forever

And now the last post for 2013 -

I'm sitting in front of all these boxes full of Phantom's and some sentimental thoughts are comming up.
For nearly 12 Years this plane was a important part of my life.
I was working on this plane as an engine mechanic in the German Air Force.
And despite all problems it was a wonderful time.

And here are some reasons why I love this plane more than any other :

And this was my working place most of these 12 years :

I think sometimes it's a good way to finish the year by thinking on all the good times you already have had in your life and by hoping that the next year bring some more fun !!!

Best regards,

Robert

Thanks for the post Maverick. It’s now easy to see why you have so many F4s in your awesome collection. Before I saw this last post, I was tempted to ask you which one was your fave…but you’ve now answered it. Cheers

Yes, its a great collection of Helicopter. Being a Military collector myself, I have over 200 1/144 Heli's, but No room to show them. Right now I've got closed to 160 1/400 C-130 out and after that then I'll have the room to show them, but for now they to sit in box's, as well as the rest of the 1/400 collection.

Randy! Party on and go Packers Go!

It's finished - all of my 1/72 Phantoms are now out of the box and on display.
Only the Corgi Blue Angels is not unpacked, because it's the same like the one from Hobby Master.

There was not enough place so I had to split the display.
But thats ok for 63 Phtantoms.

And here are the details :

It's a Mix of Corgi, Hobby Master, Altaya, Gemini, Air Commander, X-Plus!

Enjoy !!

High Checking6,

of course it would be that of my former wing, the German one of Fighter Wing 74.

Thanks for sharing Maverick. If it wasn't a work of love, that looks like it may have been a chore.

That is a truly inspiring collection.

What does that Sabre think it's doing top center of the Phantom display? The nerve of some models. Divas, really.

Default My Military Aircraft Collection - Israel Fighters

Taking the pictures of my new arrivals, I decided to compare Wittys F-16 I against HM's.
There are some details where they are different, but in the great overall view, I think you can stand them both together on one shelf.
But als already mentioned here before, I'm no purist and no rivet counter.
They are both OK for me.

The F-16 I Sufa :

And now together with the F-16 A

And now all israeli Fighters currently on display

Enjoy !

Wow! What an impressive and complete collection!

I noticed you had one or two Falcon Mirage III in your collection. Always liked those older Mirages…How would you rate these Falcon products compared to other brands like Hobby Master in regards to fit, tooling, detail and paint finish?

Hello checking6,

they are very heavy, not so much surface details and the gear is very weak.
On the first models, the intake were a little bit thick but on the last ones they improved.
The colors are ok, and the overall shape ist very good. If you have it on the shel beneath other models, they look great.
If you take a closer look they have their problems, but they are much better than the Altaya Mirage III.

Especially the last French one is very good.

Hi not sure if you are still active here but you seem like the person to ask on all things HM F-104´s.

I am trying to track down what certificates the HA1014 and HA1015 had originally (Both LE and Taiwan only).

Fantastic collection by the way .
