After renovation of my office I integrated some display cabinets in my bookcase.

First an overview of the complete front.

Detailed pictures will follow in the next step.

Just out of interest Mav, are they bespoke built cabinets or did you purchase them from a store. They look great and I'm moving house and reckon they;d suit me down to the ground for my collection.

Default My new display cabinet - Part IV

On the over side of the room I realised a display cabinet as an moveable part in the front of an book shelf.
A lot of work, but now after I'm ready, it's a nearly perfect feeling working between all these models.

The second display cabinet :

And as always here are the details :

1:48
Armour - F-4, F-16
1:72
Hobby Master - F-102, F-106

1:72
Hobby Master - F-2, F-104, F-1
X-Plus - F-4
WittyWings - F-15

1:72
Corgi - Lightning

1:48
Armour - F-104

1:72
Hobby Master - F-105, F-100

1:72
Hobby Master + Gemini - F-4

1:72
Hobby Master - F-4

1:72
Century Wings - F-14
Hobby Master - F-4, F-5, A-4
Corgi - Tornado, Jaguar, Buccaneer, Chinook

1:72
Hobby Master - Mirage 2000, A-10, Mig-21
Altaya - Kfir

1:72
Century Wings - SR-71
Gaincorp - Su-47
Hobby Master - CF-105
Corgi - TSR 2

1:72
Corgi - Harrier, Tornado, Jaguar, Sea King, Buccaneer
Hobby Master - F-4, F-104, T-6, Mig-21
Falcon - T-33
SkyGuardian - Gannet
Easy Model - F-86, Eurofighter, H-34 G, Tiger, Mi-8, Lynx
Altaya - Eurofighter

1:72
Hobby Master - A-4, Mig-21, F-CK-1, Harrier
Corgi - Harrier
Altaya - Gripen, Alpha Jet, G.91, Mirage III

1:72
Hobby Master - F-105, F-4, F-100
Witty Wings - F-16
Falcon - T-33
SkyMax - F-84
Corgi - F-86

Now I can display most of my collection all the time. But some more are waiting for unpacking.
So from time to time I will re-arrange my collection and it will always look like a new one.

For the near future I'm planing a cabinet for my 1:200 & 1:400 collection.
But this will last some time.

Enjoy the pictures and feel free to comment.

Regards,

1Maverick

Hello Grizz,

the cabinets are made special for my new room and were build togehter with an friend who works as an carpenter.
The installation fills two complete walls with book shelfs.
In one the cabinet is integrated and the shelfs are build around it. This cabinet has three parts with about 1200x700 mm.
The second one was realiszed as a moveable part in front of an book shelf and was splitted in 4 parts, each 800 x 600 mm.

Hello Airwolf,

the clear stand were made from acrylic glass and I bought them at an company in Germany.
I told them which size they should make. Not so cheap, but better than all solutions (pieces of wood or metal) I used before.

Wow! I love the way that you have organized your collection into themes and scales. I especially like your use of the name plates and the mirrors to show the bottoms of the F-16's and the F-117 Stars and Stripes. Very cool! Gives your collection a "museum feel". Well done.

Hi Maverick!

Thats a very impressive collection you have! It's already a great pleasure to look at it in pictures, but must be really stunning to stand in front of it (and even more to own such a collection )
As far as i can see, the whole crème de la crème of diecast is sitting on your shelves

I also like your choice of modern Luftwaffe types ... but you have to repaint the AlphaJet and the G.91 Gina

Any chance to get the name of the german company that made the acrylic stands? They're great.

regards

Braggel

Sorry but did you call this an office?? "Museum" would be a more appropriate term!

Not sure if you can get any work done in your office but I'll be in a trance in front of this impressive collection. As a new collector, I have bookmarked this page as a reference.

How long have you been collecting Mav?

Hello mps112,

you can work in this room, no problem, but if I feel that I need a break, I have just to turn around.
I'm collecting aircraft models since nearly 10 years and as I think every man needs a hobby.
And this is not the badest one.
You could make from at home, you don't have to leave youre house for having fun and your wife knows where you spent your money was.

Regards,
1Maverick

Hello F For Freddie,

the dusting is not a big problem.
Normally I change my planes every 4-5 Months to a different kind of display (changing from types to country or special themes) and during this work i use an big and soft paint brush for cleaning the aircrafts. And the shelfs are cleaned with a normal window cleaner.

This works good and normally it's done on one weekend togehter with packing und unpacking for some stored models during the rearrangement.

And my wife does not care for my room. It's mine and she is only a visitor in here.
This works fine and we are both glad about this arrangement.

I too am a military collector, but have stay with one scale and that is 1/400. There is a few planes like the AN-225, 124 and IL-76 plus 2 Playboy's to round out the collection at 361.

But onlike you I had to take down my N-scale train layout for more room on my growing collection because the wife won't let me in the house or give me a room.

The other problem is that in 1/400 there isn't the selection like in other scales, so I ended for now I have 29 C5s, 37 C-17 and 149 C-130s.

I would quickly ran out of room on the shelves.

Default Update - my shelf for the 1/200 Fighter's has arrived

After a long search I found a perfect system for displaying my growing 1/200 Fighter Collection.

Sorry for the low quality of the pictures, but you can not take pictures with flash because the acrylic material strongly reflects the light.
I tried with ISO 800 and normal light.

I jope you enjoy anyway

Regards,

1Maverick

Enjoy !!

My mind is about to explode. Great arrangements and additions.

Why the one USAF F-104 in with the German AF shelf? Maybe it was based there?

@Skinner67

The flying training for the German Air Force took place in the USA and the F-104 were based at Luke AFB.
For some political reasons the German owned aircraft have to fly with US registration numbers. For the general public it should look, like they were American aircrafts. One of these aircrafts, a TF-104 G, was marked with a special painting for the celebrations of 200 Years Independence in 1976.
