Default Retro Models

Dear Collectors,

A very good morning, afternoon or evening to you (depending on where you are).

We are a new manufacturer in the world of 1:200 and 1:400 diecast aircraft models; and are pleased to be part of this forum.

Although we have been in business for many years now, we have just ventured into manufacturing 1:200 and 1:400 scale diecast aircraft.

Our models are produced to exceptionally high standards using the latest injection moulds and tampo printing techniques.

Our 1:200 and 1:400 scale models are marketed under the Retro 200 and Retro 400 brand names, respectively.

We also have certain aircraft models specially commissioned by us from other fellow diecast aircraft manufacturers. These are marketed as Retro Models exclusives.

Our models are extremely limited in terms of production, hence each of our models comes with a unique numbered limited edition card. The limited nature of our models goes a long way in ensuring that they will hold its value (or even appreciate) over time, thus making them a well sought after product.

We realise that we are living in a constantly changing technological age, and this is why we strive to deliver a product that makes best use of the latest technology. A major aim for us is to constantly innovate with new products and ideas.

As our motto says ..... we produce models for serious collectors!

We shall have in stock by October 15th, five new models all in 1:200 scale. These have been produced using Inflight 200 moulds, and are marketed under their brand name but as Retro Models exclusives.

We also have in the planning stage, many new moulds in both 1:200 scale and 1:400 scale. These will be of a very superior quality and subject to top quality control. We plan on releasing 3 new moulds in 1:200 scale and 3 in 1:400 scale. However, this all depends on you, the collector. If we have initial success with our existing five models, then we will go ahead immediately with the development stage of the new moulds. Who knows, you collectors could see aircraft models of the type never seen before in 1:200 and 1:400 scales.

We have already secured distributorship with Jet Streams USA who are keen to see our product being carried by most reputable diecast aircraft retailers in the USA. As for other markets, we are very close to securing distributors; and we shall keep you notified of this in due course.

We shall be having available very soon, five models in 1:200 scale. These are:

Alitalia DC-9-30 (I-DIKV) in the early 1970s colors.

Continental Airlines DC-9-30 (N43537) in the mid-1990s colors.

PIA DC-10-30 (AP-AXD) in the non-polished belly that represents the true aircraft. This aircraft carries the green-gold PIA livery of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

PIA DC-10-30 (AP-AXE) with the polished belly that only this aircraft registration flew in. This aircraft came with a green nose. This aircraft carries the green-gold PIA livery of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Viasa DC-8-63 (YV-C-VIB) with the double Viasa titles in the early 1970s livery.

In the next five posts, I shall be attaching photos of these aircraft that will hit the shelves soon.

I trust that you collectors will help make Retro Models a success, so that we can deliver products to you that are unique and innovative.

I intend to actively participate in this forum, so please feel free to ask me any questions and to make suggestions.

Many thanks.

well may I be the first to welcome you to the forum!!! I am sure the members/collectors here will follow you with great interest. all I say if the models are entirely accurate, you will have no problems selling out of a lot of them if limited to only 48 of each! members here have been crying out for an accurate 707 mould!! myself and others have asking for a new COMET 1 for years. a BOAC one in those moulds would be enough for me!! I expect you will get a LOT of requests for others moulds!!!! I wish you success in your venture!

will you be selling the models in u.k yourselves??? or through ARD or AIRSPOTTERS???? etc.

Those PIA DC-10's will be hot sellers for sure. Would love to see a Kuwait Airways 747-200 in the original delivery colors too.

Hello Robertjon5,

Thank you for your welcome message. Our future models will be mostly 120 units, unless we do variations, in which case you could see lower quantities of each.

Accuracy is our goal, not just in terms of an accurate mould but also avoiding the usual Chinese spelling mistakes! Although a Comet 1 may not be feasible for us, due to limited liveries, a Comet 4 sounds more interesting, as do the Tridents and Vanguards in terms of British aircraft. We will keep you posted via our website.

We have secured ARD as our main retailer, and we shall also be dealing with Air Spotters and other UK retailers.

We will also be listing the models on our website, and are implementing a shopping cart through a 128-bit secure system.

Enjoy collecting!

We believe the PIA DC-10 that we have produced in the green-gold livery represents the aircraft in its best PIA livery ever. Let's hope they sell well and make collectors happy.

I would personally love to see a Kuwait Airways B747-200, as I personally flew on one from JFK - LHR, but I doubt if there will be demand for this.

Welcome to the forum, your models sound very interesting. I love retro aircraft and any Pan Am or Delta aircraft you produce in the widget livery I will most definitely be interested!

Cheers ... Ben

Welcome aboard as they! New producer's of models that have imagination to produce certain aeroplane types and airlines are always to be welcomed and I wish you well with your endeavour. If you have the capacity to produce new types of long sought and desired models, manufactured to a contemporary standard, then that is to be applauded. I agree with your views on the PIA DC-10 definitely a more elegant scheme than the IF version and if we are to favour this airline then I would love to see produced a 707/720 in the sixties scheme. Good luck!

Welcome, Retro Models! Great to see a fresh new face on the market. You'd make a lot of people happy if you were the first out with a DeHavilland DHC-7 in 1/200, let me tell you.

I'm pretty sure I know who is behind these, as I am in contact with someone that has mentioned this range to me, which sounds very exciting. I do believe I am right in saying that one of the first 1/400 models will be a British turboprop airliner. With so much competition out there, it is important to try and produce some 1/400 models that no competitor makes. Having said that, there are some manufacturers that are sitting on moulds that they seldom use, but would sell very well - providing they are released in well-known and requested liveries and not obscure and hybrid ones that few people are familiar with.

In 1/400 scale, I would very much like to see these retro types (1/200 collectors might welcome some of them also):

Tupolev Tu-104
Tupolev Tu-114
Tuploev Tu-134,
Ilyushin IL-14,
Antonov An-12
Avro 748 & Handley Page Herald (GJ and AC don't seem to bother making requested liveries for these two)
Armstrong-Whitworth Argosy
Vickers Viscount 800
Bristol 170 Freighter
Breguet 763 Deux Ponts
Lockheed C-130E Hercules (not C-130J)
Canadair CL-44
de Havilland Heron
Airspeed Ambassador
Avro York

Good Luck!

This sounds very interesting but I hope your models will be available to those outside the US and UK at plausible shipping rates.

I've never heard of Jet Streams USA and they presently seem to have a very small range of 1:400s (literally 3 Aurora 400s from years ago). Does anyone have experience of them?

I would prefer that you used a mainstream seller I know I can trust like Waffle collectibles or Eztoys who post worldwide at decent prices.

Also what is the price range likely to be for your 1:400s?

welcme to the forum - good to see another manufacturer caring about retro liveries... (concerning your mould sharing agreement with IF200 i would like to know if you could use the GJ200 727 mould instead of the Inflight counterpart - just in case you plan to do 727 models)

Please do not neglect the Comet 1.
This plane was used by seven airlines or air forces.

Comet IV models are available at the moment but the Comet 1 disappeared long time ago.

The Historic model was very basic, we are ready to welcome an accurate model of this iconic aircraft.

There is a real Comet 1A at Cosford, registered as G-APAS with BOAC markings, in fact it is the former Air France F-BGNZ.

Thank you Robert for this little hope and your photos.
Here is mine, I was at CAM the day they were delivered, I bought one.

Interestingly, mine is not an Heathrow model, it is an Historic.

Jetstreams USA has been around forever, I think Don is one of the owners of Inflight 200 or had something to do
with it in the beginning. He's an extremely reliable seller.

Hmmm... I'm looking for some propellers in that lineup.

Welcome! Good to hear more brands joining in to the 1:200 and 1:400 market. It is also good to see people who are willing to step up and provide good models that collectors want even if they are not made using your own moulds. But i believe that if you become a success, sooner or later you will be having an entire factory dedicated to producing models for you! Although the models you release do not fit my criteria but I believe you will make many many collectors happy. Good luck and all the best in your business venture!

Welcome, always good to see a new manufacturer willing to change it up abit.

Can I make a suggestion for a 1:200 Trident, either the CAAC or PLAAF livery, I'm sure they'll be able to spell those ones correctly

Also in terms if quality, it's not just the accurate features that matter but also the quality of executing the manufacture, too many times a good model has gone to waste at the hands of a sloppy factory worker

Just as a point of reference regarding the Comet 1. The French model kit maker 'F-RSIN' makes a Comet 1 (albeit in 1:144 scale). They cover all liveries. The kit is injection moulded.

This, by the way, is a model kit manufacturer who is rather small and niche-market. If they can find a way to do a Comet 1, you can find a way to do a Comet 1. Just think a little outside the financial box.

--> F-RSIN plastic | Comet 1 plastic kit <--

I think you guys may be able to make a few peoples wishes come true this coming year.

On a personal note, models I would very much like to see in 1/200 scale:

Fokker F28
DeHavilland Dash 7
BAe ATP

The ATP is possibly a bit niche in terms of liveries that would sell well, but I've lost count of the minor and major airlines that operated the F28. Plenty of colourful liveries for the Dash 7 too!

Also, on the DC9-30 theme, my wish list includes:

Iberia 80s/90s colours. EC-BYG if I can be specific (!)
Aviaco 80s colours
Viva Air
British Midland (blue top livery, without lower red cheat line)
Swissair (HB-IDP....)
Aermediterranea (multicolour alitalia-like scheme)

I'm sure many of us will be pleasantly surprised at what you have in store for us. Wish you all well and hope to be a regular customer.
