Collecting both 1:400 and 1:500, here is what I see:

1:500
- dominated by Herpa (at least here in United States)
- need more American releases- Delta, United especially
- missing American carriers: Spirit, Frontier, JetBlue, Allegiant, Sun Country, Virgin America
- products take FOREVER to finally arrive for purchase and are often very late
- more advanced terminal sets needed- most still look straight out of the 1980s

1:400
- need more variety of ground equipment
- caution: numerous manufacturers with multiple releases already competing

A B717 in 1:200 scale, some 1:200 scale GSE and I will second the suggestion of a 1:200 scale comet.

Anybody gone to this blog? I'm afraid to, don't know what a 19yo from Oklahoma might actually be up to. I'll bet it isn't manufacturing quality diecast models.

Airports themselves in 1:400 SCALE, based on the more popular ones like LAX with the historical landmarks that the airport is known. They can also be done according to era like early 60's etc...............

Well, there have been four classic pioneering jet airliners that have been completely blown off by the
1:200 establishment:

Boeing 707-120 - started it all in this country
Douglas DC-8 Series 10 20 30 - pioneering right behind the original 707
Convair 880 - fast and interesting
Convair 990 - fast and even more interesting

Instead they want to concentrate of yet another dull predictable 777-300 with the wrong engines. Really amazing to
watch sometimes.

I am primarily a 1:500 scale collector and the scale needs some real competition for Herpa.

However as they have such a dominant position, perhaps you could aim to fill in the gaps of their product range or produce new aircraft that they have largely or totally ignored thus far such as the Fokker F-28, TU-104, DC-8 60/70, B707-100, B720, (just for starters).

There would also be a market for military types such as the C-5 and B-52.

GSE and accessories for 1:500 scale will also prove popular and finally no-one has produced a range of bizjets or the smaller regional types.

I realise there are size limitations at this scale, but the ERJ-135, Gulfstream G650, Global Express are definitely viable, along with several others.

I like 1:500, but I think you should also do a premium line of 1:200 models.

It's funny how no-one seems to be paying attention to the (in my mind very valid) point you made here.

Interesting indeed. Anyone wanna buy a bridge?

Actually, I'm not sure if anyone is actually taking this seriously anyway. Looks like another wish list thread. I'm pretty sure this Derek 001 does not have his own factory. He might be making custom one-offs with donor models, more likely.

You can see that there are many collectors out there with different wants, needs and scales. Are you conducting a survey or are you really starting to manufacture? Can you fill us in with some more details about you near and future plans?

I would love to see alot of different GSE in 1:400 scale (busses, de-icing trucks, tow trucks, catering trucks, toilet trucks, bagage cars, fuel trucks, etc..) I think there is a high demand for GSE in any scale..

Considering that we have had information from a manufacturer that orders to companies that make these models range from $30,000 to $50,000 in order to be profitable for the company, $700 seems a little low for a down payment on a production run. But again, I'd like to see the end result of your investment.

Production run? Isn't this going to be an e-magazine?

My mistake if that's the case. I was under the impression this was a survey of what diecast products everyone wants produced in order to create a product line. If this is just an e-mag, then sorry for the confusion on my part. It IS just a glorified wish list.

Are you sure you're not being taken for a ride? Who's the manufacturer you gave the $700 to?

I can't believe that anyone actually takes this thread seriously enough to reply, myself notwithstanding, cause I think this is all as legitimate as a $3 bill.
