There's some creams and ointments that can clear that up.

Im a bus and train enthusiast.
I collect bus models as well, and I have around 100+ buses, which most consist of KMB and Citybus models.

Would you like to share your KMB bus collection here?

Here's mine:

http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...ollection.html

It's tiny compared with yours. I don't even have 10, let alone 100. Buses certainly take a back seat to aircraft in my collection. Nevertheless I do enjoy KMB bus models, specifically of those types of buses that I remember seeing when I was growing up in HKG in the 1980s.

I've begun doing the same, sliming down my bus collection to a few key operators and building up my aircraft collection. I've still got a fair old number of bus models though, will have to photograph some of them to share.

As for KMB, I always preferred the white/red/black livery to the cream and red, though the MCWs did look good in that scheme.

Mind you, I do enjoy repainting model buses that haven't been produced en-mass.

Is SBS transit not the operator of the automated subway line?

It is hahas..
It is the operator of the world's first fully automated subway line(North East line). I have the model of the train being used on that line.
SBS Transit will also be operating the Downtown Line, Singapore's 3rd fully-automated line opening next year.

SMRT Trains, which is SBS Transit's rival, operates the Circle Line, also a fully automated line since 2009.

Both companies operates buses too.

I grew up with the cream and red livery, so I guess that's the one I'm most attached to. I don't care much for KMB's current gold livery, nor any member of their fleet that entered service after I left HKG in 1990.

You're right, though, the MCW looks magnificent in the cream and red livery. You know, I wish I had the money to actually buy one from KMB back when they were getting rid of them. I miss them dearly.

I don't collect model trains because I have zero interest in them, but I'm truly staggered at the level of detail that model manufacturers put in them. My 1:76 scale KMB models also have some interior detail, but not quite as much as that.

What you have listed there is a fantastic collection. I wish I had as many buses, as there are many more I would like to add to my own collection.

I'm still deciding whether or not to get the 1:76 scale 12m Dennis Dragon that's now available. As a kid, I used to take route 6C weekly, and almost every time I had hoped it would be operated by an MCW Metrobus as it's my favourite, but instead it had been mostly operated by a Dennis Dragon with the Duple Metsec bodywork, so much so that I got rather bored of it. It was my least favourite KMB bus at the time ...

One bus I'd like to see made in 1:76 scale is the Transperth operated Renault PR180.2 - as it is my favourite bus in Perth:

Here's a video I've just uploaded that was filmed by the BBC in 2009, explaining a bit more about my bus hobby. It appeared on the national show, The One Show.

"B2707300SST;KLM4me: ditto those k1/43 cars. I'm just getting into seventies Caddies. Amazing how much detail you can get in those now."

More 1/43 sports cars - I saw the 1/1 version of these racing in France and Germany when I was a GI stationed in Verdun 1961-64. The 156 F1 (1961), the 250 GTO (1962), and the 250 P (LM) (1963). I cannot believe that Ferrari destroyed all the remaining shark nose F1s, and that only existing examples are replicas - Weird, Sad. And as I said before, a 1/400 Phoenix wide body often goes for as much as one of these 1/43s. Outta here, Doug

Thanks for sharing. What a great video! I like your model bus collection too

You're lucky enough to be able to own a bus that you are fond of from your childhood. I wish I could've bought an MCW Metrobus from KMB when they retired them back in 2007, but while the purchase price wouldn't be prohibitive, shipping it over here probably would be. I've seen videos of some ex KMB buses in Sydney, shipped over here by bus enthusiasts. There's at least an ex KMB Leyland Olympian and Mercedes-Benz O305.

I'm curious, where do you park it? How much does it cost for you to park it? And how often do you get to go for a drive in it?

Exclamation My Other hobbies...

SCUBA , but difficult near Denver; hiking 14ers (no equip/ climbing due to medical). like semi trucks & trains; never thought of collecting, but loved the train display in Chicago, mainly because I've been to the places in the display. I was more interested in the planes on display including the real 727
, the wright brothers display, etc. Like ships, but was happy to go on the subs U-505 & the one that was in the movie of hunt for red October...i like traveling/ outdoor adventure stuff.

I was hoarding Transformers stuff & micro machines, but they were never in display/ always in the closet (unresolved childhood issues with dad). I finally got them all out of storage and selling them off. Ironically my medical issues were the catalyst to start collecting aircraft. My last & most satisfing hobby is learning, either via documentaries, academic venues, reading mags, or just OJT; I LOVE IT!

Considering your displays have moving parts, post a couple of demonstration videos like disassembling and reassembling your hardware in record time. Or just short of setting this thread on fire, post videos of your expertise at the firing range. Well, I gave it a shot.

Hey JPC, what the hell's with your avatar. You on meth? Oh, that's Michael.

Keeping the beat with these miniature instruments on my stereo cabinet. The multi-color Fender La Bamba was created by Joe Walsh for Guitar Mania. The Fender sunburst precision base is what Sting typically used and both guitars are 10" high. Yamaha drums are finished in a natural color. There are plenty of miniatures on Ebay, etc. and my next acquistion will be a stacked set of Marshall amps.
