Default ordering small worlds from aviation retail direct

Has anyone ordered Small World models online from Aviation Retail Direct? How is shipping to the US and do you get a 10% discount if you're a member?

I'm considering placing an order or two. I know the wait is quite long.

Any help?

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"

Hey Russell....is the discount for a member 10% on the Small Worlds and what kind of shipping charges are there? Nothing really clear on the website regarding shipping to the US.

If you go there and take the model OK but if you have to order on-line....

sorry to bump an old thread but I'm just curious, these days when you order a smallworld model from ARD, how long is usually the average wait time. Because on the site is says 9 months! That's like giving birth to a kid.

that is about AVERAGE!! 9-12 months. because martin is in such HUGE demand for his excellent work. dino. you get 10% discount if you are club member, which is £10 a year. you easily get that back if you order just one smallworld!! shipping cost to usa is very reasonable!

Martin has radically reduced his offerings on ARD- from more than 250 to about 70. I guess he's trying to concentrate on his own moulds.

ARD to US has no VAT. So, 10% member's discount, and FedEx shipping is about equal to the VAT reduction. Packages arrive within days of shipping. Really, not too bad.

Fellow,

Please pardon my knowledge, I just heard about Small World from this thread. I just visited the Small World website, and thought that their models are excellent.

Is Martin of Small World -who was mentioned in earlier posts- the same person with Martin Beacom from Beesmodels where I bought the 1:200 ladders and aerial frets?

Yes - the same Martin does the Small World models and the Beesmodels (also now the D-Tails).

Smile Re: ordering small worlds from aviation retail direct

Hi Guys
With regard to Small World Models , they are my models, sold , by agreement through ARD. Occasionally a model will be done for ARD exclusively with the SWM name. ARD has my models on their website(I do not show them on beesmodels website) and, as you say , the range has reduced to try and clear the backlog. Most of the models that have been deleted can still be done, but only when I have thinned out the existing back orders.
The D.tails range were done , to be sold ex stock, and are not exclusive to ARD. They have a few models but I also sell from my web site ,both finished models and kits. This range is expanding and there will be short run models (5off) only on beesmodels site.
I apologise to those who have waited a long time for their models, oddly the response we have been getting is " I have waited 18 months for this model, well worth the wait".
Be assured I will do my utmost to clear the old orders, so that they are done, not only in my lifetime, but also the allocated span of my customers.
Martin Beacom /SWM/Bees models/D.tails
Hope to see some of you at K2 27 april
